I just got a call from someone claiming to be from the Oakland PD. He wanted to send me tix to a rodeo that was good for kids. He said that the proceeds would go towards gang prevention. When I told him politely that I wasn't interested, he said that he wasn't asking for money right now. He would send the tix and there would be no rush to send back a check in the amount of $40. I told he that I wasn't interested- he thanked me and hung up.

Knew it was a Scam because i dont have run ins with the Police period.

I just got the same call Oakland PD fundraising dept for gangs. And to keep the kids out of gangs. Trying to get me to buy some damn tickets to a Rodeo at the Cow Palace.  And to send them back with my name signed on the back if i didnt want to go. I smell BULL!! So said yeah i'll take 2, than he said he was gonna transfer me to the mail room, and then i hung up! Muahaha

This time it was a guy claiming to be from Oakland PD fundraising dept for gangs. And to keep the kids out of gangs. My donation would help. Then it was  to take the homeless to a rodeo! So is it for the kids or the gangs? Then I said well you have my number I assume you have my address as well. Luckily he said the wrong address and I said good bye!

Decided i would let y'all know it's still goin on in 2013.

Here it is, six months after they last called me.  You'd think they'd be a little smarter after the reception they got on May 8.  I didn't pick up this time, but I'm sure they'll call back and I can have some fun with them then.  BTW, almost immediately after I didn't pick up--another call from 707-921-1050 showed up on my caller ID.  (Santa Rosa, CA).  I wonder if the two scams are connected?

I didn't recognize the number (510-545-8048) and let it roll over into my voice mail.  Whoever called forgot to hang up/disconnect when it rolled over to my voicemail.  When I played back the msg; I could hear what definitely sounded like a call center,  

Around this holiday season, it was probably a scam solicitation pretending to be behalf of the local police or sheriff.

Live person claimed to be calling from the California Correctional Officers for a benefit show to raise money for survivors of correctional officers who died in the line of duty. The caller said they hey were going to send me some tickets to a show for $40. And if I don't go, they asked for me to return the tickets, with endorsement on the back so that others could go.  Fishy!  As soon as they said that, red flag in my head. I hung up. I almost fell for it.

"community law enforcement" called from the number:510 545 8048 asking  me to support their cause of feeding the hungry at Thanksgiving.       they called the evening before.  I told them the truth that I had just brought my husband home from the Dr.s and I needed to see that he ate!!  They said Thank you and hung up.

these CREEPS call up pretending to be law enforcement trying to sell stuff. They are real scary sounding in the way they can fool you into talking and giving personal information before realizing its these scummy scammers! Why haven't these THUGS been shut downs my question!!!

Some guy keeps calling my 13-year-old son's cell phone from this number. . . keeps hanging up when my son says hello.

May not be a scam but it's SUPER ANNOYING and they won't stop calling. Wish we could take away their phone service!!!

So how much does this cost?  I got a call too, but told them Im on the do not call list (I know) it doesn't work as well as it should

This is still fishing for some sort of donations for - supposedly - our local police. I have to keep the phone on the hook because my son is very ill and drs. sometimes call in from numbers that I don't recognize - when this guy gave me his schlock and took a breath long enough for me to say that I have a kid who just had brain surgery, again, he actually said that we sounded like we were 'vulnerable' right now, and we should appreciate our police force even more right now, because "You never know who knows you're going to be targeted." That's when I called him a really long word that I picked up from growing up on the South Side of Chicago, and hung up. These a**les are the idiots who use that kind of tactic with eighty year old women who are living alone - disgusting.

this 5105458048 number calls, no caller id name.says hellooooo then I hang up. be cautious when a number calls with no name, it is fishy to me.

Husband answered the telephone on this number.  Person on the other end asked for me and would not leave a message with my husband.  I have gotten calls from them in the past re:  Magic Show and they were calling from (510) 568-8483.  The prefix 568 is from a location in East Oakland around the Eastmont Mall and general vicinity of that area.  I don't answer their calls because they always be "sweating" people for money for an alleged charitable cause.

They just called.  A chummy guy, claiming to be from the Oakland PD.  After a little banter, where the caller bemoaned the Occupy Oakland group, and assured me that I could put my hands down (this was a friendly call)--he got to the point of "The Magic Show" he was trying to hawk.  At that point, I said--excitedly--"oh, I've heard all about that" and immediately hung up.  Depending on the callers, I sometimes like to string them along ...

These are lying, scamming a***oles pretending to represent the local police agencies.

They called my cell phone and it was a robocall asking me to call 568-8483.
