How to stop them dead in their scamming tracks when they call.

1. "This is agent ________ how can I help you?"  [They will apologize say they got the wrong number, hang up and delete your number from the to be scammed list.

2. "Attorney general's office how may I help you?" [regular business hours only] If they continue to speak, state "are you certain you want to continue."

3. This is agent ___________ you have reached a secure witness protection location and all incoming calls are automatically traced and followed up with a visit by local agents.

Received the call today and it said Troopers Assoc on the caller ID. Since I wasn't familiar with the number, I didn't answer.

Every single day I get a phone call from this number...This has to stop!  Don't people have better things to do with their time.

If you have paid your taxes in the past you have already paid. This is just people making money for themselves!

Same troopers association scam

Called the number back...it is a telemarketer with a recording that asks you to leave number to be on do not call list within 72 hours. We will see....

The NY State Police deny any connection to this scammer - please forward any info on payment details, etc that you can gather to the NY Attorney General's Office - while the odds are against it, if they are caught they will be prosecuted to the fullest!  Warn your friends (particularly seniors) about these hucksters!  The assigned number traces back to Wantagh (Nassau County) NY, but that is likely just the last node of a multi-hop daisychain loop...

I'm on the "Do Not Call" registry. Have been for years, so I knew this was a scamming phone call. It says Troopers Association, but I don't think so - I told them not to call. they keep calling!!!

I've been receiving calls from this phone # for awhile.  Caller ID says TROOPERS ASSOCIATION. They hang up after the 3rd ring and never leave a message.  Obviously it's not legit.  Never give money to solicitors over the phone!

I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER ADVISING THEY WERE FROM  THE NEW YORK STATE TROOPERS AMERICAN ASSOCIATION, DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE PROGRAM LOOKING FOR DONATIONS. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS IS A TRUE, LEGIT PROGRAM?
