Just got off the phone with Sears Customer Advocacy. (1-866-491-2247)

-> Nice lady named Linda answered.
-> I requested cessation of all telephone solicitation
-> Asked for my name and phone number
-> She asked if I ever do any catalog shopping or purchase extended warranties. (In an attempt to determine which lists to remove me from)
-> I stated no and I'll purchase an extended warranty at time of sale if ever
-> She advised me she has put in a request to remove me from all calling lists
-> She also stated she has two other names at the same number and would I like the same for them. I stated yes (Wife and close relative)
-> Done with today's date
-> She asked if I would like to be removed from mailing lists as well
-> I asked what this involves, and she stated catalogs, etc.
-> I said no, please leave me on there, we like Sears and we shop there regularly, just do not want phone calls (Especially in this manner)
-> I asked if this pertained to their partners such as Canada Premier Life Insurance Company via JP Morgan... and she said yes it does.
-> I explained the unprofessional tactics Canada Premier Life Insurance has been and is practicing and how this adversely affects my family and yours
-> I asked when it should take affect.
-> She stated the Sears calls would stop nearly immediately (Day or two) but she couldn't say exactly when the partner calls would stop as they may have an outstanding list to get through.
-> She asked if she could do anything else. And I thanked her.

I sensed these people get blown up at regularly. I think this is unfortunate as they are not the ones doing this or creating the policies. I recommend to get them to understand your frustration without being rude. Who knows, the stress could shorten a person's life.

Give a person a reason to smile! Will let you know when the calls cease to occur. Perhaps you can try the same. (For those whom are related to Sears - note Canada Premier Life Shorteners also work for CIBC and others - try the same with them and tell them you don't need to do so again.)

I will press onward also to get this information to the Strategic thinkers at Sears and others - that we their customer do not like this at all.

Good Luck,
Mike

LIke other people- Way too many calls- they do not identify themselves. Sometimes multiple times in a day- let alone an hour. No messages left, even when another person answers.
No new cards in our household- not sure why they are contacting us! If it was important, why don't they leave a message.

Way too much of this nonsense these days- answer the phone- nobody responds at the other end. My understanding from phone room people-is that they 'dial' out to several lines- whoever responds first, gets the live person- the rest are left 'hanging' with air!

Disturbing to my family- they work shifts. EXTREMELY ANNOYING.

STOP IT!

I keep getting an annoying automated sales message from these people. When I call to get my number off the list, it only releives me for a few months... this is the third time I deal with it and I am getting very annoyed. When I call the operator, they say nothing can be done. When I call my cell phone company, they say the number can not be blocked because they are not on the same provider. I have no other options. What am I to do?
How is this allowed, and why can I not do anything... so pissed off!!!

I am quite shocked to see so many people are being harassed, have reported it and yet nothing is being done? I've been getting these calls to my personal cell phone for months, and I like others just don't answer. I will try some of the suggestions made by others. Thanks

About every other day we get a call from 519-346-2517. Once they left a voicemail. I have no idea what to do. The obvious solution would be a class action lawsuit for constant harassment. how would they like to come home from a wek of holidays, check their received calls, and see that they've gotten a call from ONE company, almost EVERY OTHER DAY! Each time they call, i can't get to the phone to talk to them. But whatever. someday, hopefully before the day of judgement, they will be punished.

I hope someone files a class lawsuit against this company. I'm at the point of reporting this phone number to the police because I just had it. If anyone has any info on what number i can contact personally i would really appericate it. I want to give a peice of my mind to these jerks!!!

The idea behind a call to your number and nobody being there is that it is a computer controlled by telemarketing software calling to record whether a person answers or not. They plot this information vs time of day and then use it to tell their real telemarketers what time it is best to call to have a better chance of reaching you.

The naive part is that you're ready to #@$%&! by the time they do.

So here's the next chapter...

Sears Customers Service has replied to my written claim by giving me another number (The same as I tried yesterday) to call to cease all phone solicitation from Sears. (Elizabeth was right) These people have been given my information so not sure how unprecedented calls would be handled, but I think quite well. (Everybody try this)

Sears Customer Advocacy Department
1-866-491-2247

I still have the concern that this disreputable Marketing Company (Not Sears) still has my info, and yes, they and 3 other telemarketers have thought of us at home again today...

Will try the number and see what happens.

In summary, the best way to get rid of these a$$holes (Yes, they have earned it.) is to prevent them from calling in the first place;

-> If completing any application, be sure to check for a field stating "Allow us or our partners inform you of offers, etc." and be sure to indicate your preference. (You don't get this option at renewal!)
-> Check the Cardholder Agreements for any information related to use of your contact information and especially any "Opt Out" possibilities. (Do again when renewing)
-> Call 1-800-661-6626 and request "No solicitation" and "Do not share my contact information with anyone" (JP Morgan Chase Financial Corp)
-> Call 1-866-491-2247 (Sears. Needs to be verified with experience.)

All along the way, be sure to tell the people you deal with that while you know it is not them personally, you do not like unrequested calls especially with the disturbing frequency and fact nobody is on the line at home or cell and that you dislike and will not deal with the businesses doing so and possibly their partners as well. Be sure to mention the company name Canada Premier Life Insurance as one who routinely and persistently over time engages in this unprofessional practice. It is a shame to see such a company with Canada in their name. Their practice tries to degrade our great country's name.

If we tell the people who matter most, this unprofessional practice will cease. We don't tolerate people not treating others as they would like to be treated here...

Good Luck,
Mike

I've ironically just received the Sears Card Package. In there are Cardholder Agreements from JP Morgan Chase Bank. One of those is the Privacy Policy. In the Privacy Policy it is stated our contact information can be used for marketing, etc. but we are provided with the option to 'Opt Out'.

This is done by calling 1-866-661-6626. I've just done so and here is my experience;

-> Pleasant and knowledgeable individual named Elizabeth answered.
-> Asked standard security questions such as card number, etc.
-> Asked me what the nature of the call is. I stated I'd reviewed the cardholder and privacy agreements and wanted to Opt Out of consent to use my information for marketing purposes.
-> She said she can help but I will also have to call another number (1-866-491-2247) which is for Sears Marketing.
-> She further said she has placed the following notes onto my account
---> Do not solicit
---> Do not forward personal information

She stated this takes affect immediately.

She then asked if there was anything else I needed to which I thanked her and said that's it.

I then called 1-866-491-2247 and after 14 rings there was no answer.

So this dealing was on the level, but I still have the following isues;

-> Calling multiple times daily, or more than once per week to solicit to a specific home is morally incorrect, disruptive, ignorant of the person's potential situation and rude, regardless of any policies, optouts. Such a company cannot achieve 'reputable' status.
-> My information has already been forwarded to this partner - so this I expect will not affect the calls I am currently receiving.
-> Still have the unresolved issue of contacting the second 'Sears Marketing' number.

I hope this information can help others. It would be one thing to mute the ringer, but what if a friend or relative in need calls in an emergency situation? These telemarketing people ought to open their minds to the annoyance, stress, and potential indirect interference in an emergency situation they can cause.

To all telemarketing managers: If we have a need, we will research all providers with criteria we favour, select a group to contact, and deal with the one we prefer. I will Never purchase any service based on telemarketing calls and the action will discredit the calling business and all it's partners. I've heard some say "I have to eat too" to which my reply is: Not at the harassment of others. There are other ways my friends and ways which allow you to sleep better at night...

I've recently received a Sears Card and am now subsequently getting calls as well with nobody answering the greeting. This will stop one way or another or another - this you can trust. We have extraneous reasons why these calls are of particular distress for us - I won't burnden you with them.

Though you ought to know - it is not Sears. Sears to me are excellent and one of my favourite partners to deal with, but they have sold their credit card business to Citi Financial. I believe the harrassing company, Canada Premier Life Insurance, to be a partner of Citi's. Thus far, I've sent a letter to Sears outlining the situation and also providing a link to this site. I've requested they protect their deservedly good reputation by correcting their partner's behaviour which is initiated by dealings with Sears and facilitated by Sears chossing their partners.

I have achieved results by contacting Sears in the past and swear by them as my family's partner. I will monitor the situation. Thanks all for sharing your information.

Good Luck,
Mike
