These people have called our home for over a year and always at dinner time.  We've asked numerous times that they stop calling.  Tonight I told the 'supervisor', Sean, that we'll file a complaint w/ the BBB.  It's clear their tactics are deceptive.   Sean wanted to argue that they've never called before (a lie) and that we didn't understand (when we demanded that they stop calling).  BTW, we never entered a drawing either.  Hmmm manipulative sales tactics and lying all to provide the consumer with trusted security.

I got a call from the number twice in a row one morning during one of my classes (I'm a college student). I called them back after class and got a voice mail, so I left a message asking why I had been called. They proceeded to call at the same time, twice at a time, every day for four days. On the fourth day I wasn't in class, so I answered, and they told me about the "Home Makeover" I had won.

As I said, I'm a college student who works part time and rents a tiny one bedroom apartment. I couldn't even imagine where I had entered the contest, as I rarely entered any contests, let alone for things like this. I asked where I had entered the contest and they said that it had been entered from "-----@aol.com." They read me my "spam" e-mail address, which is an address that I never check, and only give out when I know whatever service/store/website etc I'm giving it to will use it to spam me. This is how I got my wind up, and knew it was a scam.

They asked if I was the homeowner, and I said "no," and rather than "transferring it to a homeowner of my acquaintance" I asked them to remove my name from the "contest."

It's just a lame way to make a sales pitch. That's what it is.

That last line in my post above should read "instructing them NOT to show up", instead of "to to show up".  They are persistent scammers, not taking a NO easily.  They called they next day, I assuming after getting the message NOT to show up.  They were told we are not interested, and we blocked that number.  They then called back from another number, which we blocked as well.  They did not show up this morning, so hopefully they got the message we are wise to them.

My husband received a call at 8:19 PM PST from this number indicating we won a raffle and won a free home security system.   He said the connection was very bad.  He asked what raffle and she said they do many shows.  He agreed to let them come out, but I found this web page in the meantime.  I called the number this morning, it rang and rang but finally got a series of beeps, which eventually stopped beeping.  I left a message, I hope, instructing them to to show up.

Received a bogus phone call that I had won a free home security system.  Consulted my husband because of mention of monitoring.  Told the girl we did not want the "prize", would not accept the "prize" and would not let anyone in the house if they came.  She insisted I had to say why.  I said I did not have to say why, and repeated the mantra.  She insisted again she did not understand why, I said that she had a problem, she said no I had a problem.  I repeated the mantra and she hung up.  HOpe that is the last of them, I will have to report to BBB and State Attorney if they persist.

Same old same, Spot's the name.  How cleaver they are.  Hum, let me see, if they LIE and say you entered a contest and they LIE and say you won a prize, then technically when they call people who are registered with the "Do not call registry" it make them seem legit (in their minds) This is Spot Securitys way of getting around the law. Who knows, maybe it goes deeper then just a bad sales tactic.  You don't have a security system?  What address should we send your prize to?  When will you be home so we can call you back to make sure you received what we sent to you?  Need I say more?  These people just piss me off!

We have had numerous calls from this company. My husband finally answered the phone to find out what it was about, and listened to thier speil.  After getting the gist of the information, he asked the salesperson to hold for a sec so he could fill me in.  While he was doing so, the caller must have gotten scared and hung, up as he might have been able to hear the questions I was asking my husband to ask him.

I recieved the same call from a guy names Sean. He kept trying to set up an appointment with me, therefore I handed the phone over to my husband. Right then he knew it was a scam and kept going on and on. Sean kept saying we needed to finalize this win so he could move on...ARE YOU SERIOUS?! It's a bunch of crap. Why would these money hungry thieves wanna call you in the midst of dinner with your family? Uggh...they need to be closed down.

I had two calls from this number, last night.  The male caller kept saying "Bela; you're breaking up.  I'm on a cell phone and you're breaking up so badly that I can't hear you.  Bella; Bella, I can't hear you.  Hang up and I'll call right back."  I did, and he did call me right back but kept repeating my name and that I was breaking up on his cell phone.  I also heard a female voice saying "It's 105 degrees in the shade, obviously speaking to the caller. I could hear the caller perfectly but he seemed not to hear my many requests to know who this was.  Finally he told me to hang up and he would have to call me later.  I did not recognize the voice but most of our family is out of state and he seemed so familiar with me that I presumed it must be someone who I know. When I could not find this phone number in my book, I went online and found this site.  Wow!  I can't believe the cajones of this company.  What a bunch of jerks!

Thank you all for reporting this. The guy said they only had 8 winners and he needed to make an appointment (for all legit prizes I've ever won, no one needed to come to my house). So I asked "no strings attached?"
He said "No. Some people sign up for the security monitoring service for about $1/day"

I told him I was busy and would call him back. He didn't want to give me the info..wanted to call ME back, but I got it. And looked it up online. I suspected it was too good to be true!

If you ever get a call from these guys, hang up the phone and call your local Attorney General. They are lying when they said you won something they buy phone list and use that as a ploy. Ask them to produce the slip that you wrote your name on, they will tell you some made up answer, but in reallity it does not exist. These guys are no different than buying a used car from some slime ball. If you don't buy the guy will call his loser of a boss Ed Brittle to make you feel guilty you are not buying there system. If you are thinking about securing your home any other way than Spot would be a better way. I can not believe they are still in business. Do all you can to spread the word to put these people out of business.

I cannot believe the call i recieved, sounded like a redneck. I acted like I didnt speak english, and the redneck kept saying La Migra La Migra. And told me i was to be deported back to mexico.

I called back later to talk to some manager named Sean, spoke to me in a very condescending manner and was very rude. He started to try to explain some bs reason why i would be called for some raffle ticket. I have never put in for a drawing in my life, nor would i ever want a security system especially from these jokers. They should be shut down and that ignorant manager fired.

Same old story caller called me twice. First time male said I won a free home remodel and had to set up an appointment with him to receive prize. Second caller was intoxicated female who said I won a free Alpine home security system. Told her did not want it and she became belligerent and said she had to give it to me. I hung up and filed a report with the State AG office and also the local police. Spot Security is the old bait and switch scam where they tell you won something you did not enter for and you end up paying for other services you did not want in the first place, no wonder this company makes a lot of money by defrauding the public. They should be shut down.

She sounded real happy and friendly, Vanessa. I kinda knew all that free stuff is worthless without the monitoring system. and she said the same script as the other victims reported, 'Awesome website' and all. I dont want a free anything, because it's never really free. and if i dont pay them their protection money, i dont get the protection. sounds like the old days, but this is wires all over and signs up and people crawling around my house and yard. PS looking at the website, it's a bunch of hype. no real information about prices, but some 'feel good' pictures of puppies, babies, loving families, who, I am sure are only happy because of Spot Security. No thanks, I have Jesus and a whole army of Angels.

Similar come on as the previous responses. Congratulations you've just won, etc.
Problem is I didn't enter any contest.  When I told the woman calling I wasn't interested in the fee, she said "well, if you don't want to talk just hang up", and I did.

Suggest all that get a call from this company contact your state Department of Justice, Consumer affairs division. This is not cool and may be illegal.

good luck

Honeywell security phone scam.  You've won a new car, or cash, or a home improvement.  You are only eligible for the home improvement at this time which includes.......yadayadayada.........  Would you be interested?  I don't own this home. no.  O.K.  You can transfer the prize or shred your entry.  Shred please.  The do not call list is just a racket set up by George Bush, John McCain, and the Republican party to sell your personal information to the "private sector"(read:corporations).  I have received more telemarketing calls since I put my name on the do not call list.  What a bunch of B.S.

I just got a call from this number.  The female voice on the other end sounded young.  She said her name was Sara (no 'h').

Her is how it went down:

Me: Hello?
Sara: Hi is Jane Doe available?
Me: No she isn't.
Sara: Do you know when she.. um uh.. when a good time to reach her is?
Me: May I ask who is this is?
Sara: I'm from Spot Security.  Your wife entered into one of our raffles and won free home security service.

--This is funny because we use Brinks--

Me: Can I have your name and number so she can call you back?
Sara: Sure my name is Sara S-A-R-A.  My phone number is 541-677-6304
Me: What is the name of your company again?
Sara: Spot Security.
Me: Where are you guys located?
Sara: We have offices in Portland, Columbus and Seattle
Me: Do you have a website?
Sara: Yes, we have an awesome website.  It's www.spotsecurity.net
