Listen y'all, I've done countless hours of research on all the numbers and names tied to this so called collection agency. Yes, it is illegal what they are doing, how do I know? Number 1: In most states, you can not be criminally prosecuted for payday loans. Number 2: Any legit collection agency has (under fair debt collection act) send a written notice of any supposed debt with the original creditors name and address. Number 3: Police do not deliver collection notices. Number 4: A legit collector can only call between 8 am and 8 pm(in most states), and cannot repeatedly call your home, cell or work. They are not supposed to call your place of employment any way. Number 5: There are no debtors prison, they can not threaten jail/arrest at any time. Number 6: You can run your own credit report, many cases for free by going to www.annualcreditreport.com. Hopefully I spelled that correctly. Any how, relax, if you owe money, your credit report will show it. Many check cashing places and payday loan places(not online, the online payday loans usually sell your info to whoever will give them money have their own legal teams like banks do. So check your credit report, your memory and do not verify any information with anyone over the phone. If you are being harrassed, file a complaint with your state attorney general, federal trade commision and in extreme cases, file a police report. Document the calls, or get print outs, keep an eye on where you share your information.

The best thing to do is not to call them back.  Once you do, they will have the number you are calling from, especially if it is an alternate number, and they will continue to harass you on that one as well.  If they do not ask for you by name when they first call, they are making random calls.  If they do not identify with specificity what the issue they are alleging against you is, they are making it sound serious to urge you to call back and to be off your guard when they get the personal information from you they are fishing for to begin with.  If you dont call back they  will eventually stop.  Notice they never say they will send you something in the mail, because they dont know your name and they dont have your address.  if they had your SSN they would have all the information they need to communicate with you in writing, not by telephone.  

This is an emerging scam, a new tactic in criminals engaged in identity theft.

Its a scam, contact your state attorney general's office, their consumer complaint/fraud department and they should be able to assist you with this....Good luck

You fell or one of the oldest scams out there right know...........instead of calling them back and sending them money, you should have called the police and also the state attorney generals office.  never do anything like that over the phone.  If it was a legit debt, you would have been summoned to court and a Judge, not some paralegal or other non lawyer type would have issued a judgment in whoever's favor, after a hearing on the merits of the claim were held and decided.  I feel sorry for you.

received same type message on my cell phone, return phone number is now 954-345-4718.  have and will not return call.  have done some web surfing and find out that they operate in CA and now AZ (my residence).  all the calls seem to be typical, no real facts just threats.  why are those type of people allowed to continue while none of the law enforcement personnel seem to do anything about it.

Said I have something attached to my social, Sounded threatening but not, Whoever it is They are just fishing Don't give your social to them . They cant get you for payday loans, They are just trying to collect money they lost  This is a hoax I work for the AG's office. File a complaint against the law to harass you. It is well known that private information is taken from applying for a Payday loan online. Most to all of these calls are from from criminals in India. It is part of an International extortion ring. Now, get off the high horse & return to your job at the village.

this stuff is not made up...... they dont have all of your personal info such as bank account ss numbers just by luck you know what you did and who you owe just be an adult your right i dont know anything about your life but trust me if some one from this office told you have judgment from prior parties odds are your a habitual dbtr and you have to be sued over everything..... so yeah if i lost my house job car and everything i own i probably wouldnt remember boats and things on my backround...

I get similar calls from this 'law firm' and they threaten to 'serve me papers'. They haven't served them yet. I know it doesn't take MONTHS to serve papers. They also pretend to be calling from our local courthouse. All I can say is keep calling....I'm not answering! And if you ever do get the 'nerve' to serve me papers, I'll see you in court!!

Recieved call from a melanie steinberg saying my SS# was attached to a legal matter. I called back and a guy by the name of Robert answered. When i asked for Melanie he said she was in a meeting with one of the attorneys and she was a legal asst. FUNNY cause they are not a law firm. They are Allied Financial and use a legal but FAKE name of gregory adams and associates.. DO NOT CALL NUMBER BACK. They CANNOT sue you. They are a company that takes old debts usually 5yrs or older and try scare tatics to get people to pay. Again DO NOT CALL THEM BACK EVER... scum bags. I know all of this cause i had a lawyer call them and look into them.. They said i owed $ to a check n go and owed $ on 2 boats. Well i have NEVER used a check n go and i have NEVER bought or owned any type of boat

My attorney said you cant be sued on this matter. He said to just ignore there calls and eventually they will go away. I also stopped payment on my payment plan after i obtained legal help. They just try to scare you into paying $$

I have been contacted by them stating I wrote a check at CheckN Go and did not pay (back in July of 2005).  There has been no debt collection efforts that I know of until the calls now stating I am being prosecuted for check fraud and if I don't resolve this now and set up an automatic payment I will be served at my job and face possible charges of 3000 or more.  Thing is, I don't believe I obtained a payday loan at that time.  I had no reason to.   Not only that, anytime I had ever obtained a payday loan in the past it was never for the full amount available.  When I asked what address was associated with the account they gave me an old address that by July I had been moved out of for six months and could not even tell me in what city the debt was originated, just the date.  He stated in order to get any specific information I would have to dispute it then reiterated that to dispute this claim I would jeopardize my livelihood and face being taken to court or have my wages garnished.  I'm a single mother and barely making it working at a big box store that won't give me full time hours.  There is a chance that my exhusband had a girlfriend (who has been prosecuted for this before) fraudulently obtained a loan from my old check stubs and an old checkbook etc.  However we had been separated at that time for quite a few months.  Anyhow the gentleman I spoke with was supposed to send me specific information and documents regarding this debt and only sent me a letter regarding debt collection and no identifying information for which I could use to determine whether I had even obtained the payday loan to begin with.  Sadly, I was in such a panic when he called I agreed to automatic payments to resolve the debt.  But I believe I still have the option to dispute.  I'm sorry I have no idea what to do at this point.  I am talking with an attorney who is being kind enough to give me a little advice and have placed a stop pay on the payments until I do.  How do I deal with these people?

I have recieved numerous calls from 561-210-4826 saying my SS # is attached to a legal matter and blah blah. Well i have filed a law suite against the company and persons in this matter. For misrepresentation and harrassment amoung other things. I have keep all voicemails. I will make sure this  doesnt happen again. And to Mr Alexander the Office manager you have seen the complaints on here and they way yall are doing businees and you still are allowing this to happen. My husband received the same type of call as "R" above.  Something about his SSN and govern accordingly.  This has to be a scam of some sort.  It was from Gregory Adams and Associates asking him, his attorney or legal agent to contact them at a different phone number - (561) 210-4826.

REMINDER:  DO NOT GIVE YOUR SSN TO ANYONE

I reported this activity to our State Attorney General's office, and suggest everyone do the same.

keep getting calls from Gregory Adams & Associates.  they are looking for someone who doesnt live there and we dont know them.  i am getting tired of those calls.   The you've been served.   well Gregory Adams and Associates you've been served.  keep calling and i will be using 4 and 5 letter words to tell you how i feel about you people..

I have been receiving phone calls from "Gregory Adams & Associates" for weeks, on my 8 year-old daughter's cell phone, a number that has always been attached to her line and there is no reason why my husband would have listed it anywhere as a contact. These phone calls are designed to make you think that someone with some legal authority is trying to contact you and, as I see from above, the standard line is "govern yourself accordingly". Well, the way we govern ourselves is to NOT contact people who refuse to tell us who they really are and what they are really calling about. On a reverse look-up of the phone number I found that it is actually a mobile phone... strange. This is harassment, repeated phone calls on an 8 year-old's phone, DAILY and also my personal cell phone, and apparently they are harrassing my husband at work, demanding information from his HR department. Just tell me who you are and what you want and you will find that I DO answer my phone and "govern" myself "accordingly".

I received a call from Mr. Zimmerman on my voice mail,saying he was trying to collect a debt or something. He has called here before and left 2 messages. I don't know this person and owe no debts. Could someone contact thisnumber and tell them to quit calling me. The message claims they are from Greg Adams Associates. I did call today and gave my  phone number,and was told my number would be removed from their system

I keep getting calls from this number. No message was left.
