I want these calls to stop.

This is the first time I've seen this and you're correct! I checked my online account at PECO and saw the default was checked to release my information to 3rd parties. So that's why they've been ignoring the DNC lists. I wish I knew this months ago. I changed my info to "not release" but I'm sure the damage has been done.

Anyway, when I used the online comparison tool for suppliers, I won't save money anyway by switching, except a few dollars at one supplier, so I'll just stick with PECO. I'm not interested in companies with teaser rates and long-term contracts.

My caller ID said Gas Division.  They did leave a VMM about "energy discounts."

We get the calls 3 x  daily----selecting #5 to get someone on the phone doesn't work---answering the call doesn't work and I'm sure "being taken off the phone list" won't work either.
I'd love to get someone on the phone and let them have it----I wish they would call someone at the Whitehouse and leave us alone!

This is a competitor to my regular electricity supplier (PECO) due to deregulation. It is a recorded message telling you to press 5 to speak to a representative. I did not but did call back and then you have an option to be placed on a DNC list. I don't know why we should have to since we are already on the government's DNC list. My suggestion is that everyone, every single time, files a complaint on the National DNC Registry site. If we inundate them with complaints maybe eventually something will happen and they will get fined. If we only complain to one another here certainly nothing will happen.

I have received calls from this number and various other numbers at least 3 times per day - with the same voice recorded message.  I DO NOT have PECO and have filed a complaint with the FCC:

Got a call from 570-983-3131 at, of course dinner time. This is a new number for changing your electric, usually they are from Harrisburg or a 215 number. PA should have to deal with these clowns and put up with their s@@t. I called PECO about these calls and they told me to call the Public Utility Commission. I did call them and they told me to go to the DNC list. They are worthless and so is the DNC list.

The PA attorney general is a joke. They will tell you they annot reach them, even when you and I CAN reach them.  They will tell you that they are spoofing/blocking their number.  Or, if you are VERY luky, they will let them apologize and say they don't know HOW this might have happenend, they are sorry, it mus tbe the individual operator, et. The AG will then ut them an break, they change their number, and it starts all over again.

This is why PA is a hotbed for all types of tele marketing calls.  They know the laws are not enforced.

Their name came up as +57 (0) 983-3131 on my mobile phone.  In my condo, I have no choice of supplier and no account with any electric company. I missed the call and they left no message.

ID read "Customer Department" ... second telemarketer call in 20 minutes ... rang 3 times ... nothing, no message.

First of all, I do  not manage my PPL bill online, so how could I "opt out"? Second of all, where do these arrogant b*****ds get the idea that they can inflict these pest calls on us, unless we "opt out" of something we do not even know exists in the first place? I know where they get the idea...our so-called representatives in Congress and in the State House do not represent the people, they represent the money.

Got two calls from 570-983-3131 today. Left no messages.

The problem is PECO, not these people. There is this thing called Electric Choice and you have to opt out in order not to receive calls. On the PECO website, if you manage your account online, it states that unless you opt out, they will send your informaiton to these companies. If you didn't opt out, you gave them permission to call you, plain and simple. Even if you are on the do not call list, they can still call you because you didn't opt out.

In my case, I did opt out, but they are calling me anyway. In this case, by law they cannot call me, and PECO violated my privacy by giving these creeps my number. I've since made a complaint with the DNC list, making sure to add that I optd out and PECO gave them the info anyway. I'm also about to file a complaint with the BBB because of the breach in privacy. They've called me multiple times, and every time I block the number, they call me with a new one. I got two calls just in the last hour, and you better believe that I enjoy every minute that I report them. My next step is the Attorney General. I suggest you all check to make sure you opted out, and if not, do it now. Then report them every time they call, and make a complaint to the BBB. Good luck!

These Jerks need to be fined so badly that it isn't worth the Spam calling.  This number calls practically EVERY DAY!!~! They are SELLING electricity.  I don't know why they think they are exempt from this list!!!!!!

They should have to pay for infringing in are privacy, sue the hell out of them b*****ds. How can this happen, it is harassment!!

This is a number to save you money on your electric bill. I'm on the do not call list. When I pressed 5 a woman with an Indian accent came on and wanted me to get my electric bill so she could get my information to save me money on my electric bill. I didn't ask her to call me and I'm on the DO NOT CALL list .. so I laughed at her really LOUD and hung up! this is so much fun! everyone should do the same

Caller ID says Scranton Pa I answered and they hung up. I called back and the message said press 1 to be placed on our do not list. Lets see if it works

Yep, just what I thought. We do not get a recorded message, they just show up on our caller ID. We are not PECO customers. Doesn't matter  -- the deregulation  mania works no matter where you currently get your electicity. The State commission had ruled that come this August, PPL may no longer use the formula they have been using to charge us, which resulted in a fairly low rate. No, none of that. YOU VILL participate in deregulation scheme to "shop around" for your electricity provider.VE HAF ordained it!

BTW, these electricity suppliers seem to feel they are exempt from the state and federal "do not call" lists?

Same call from 570-983-3131, at least 5 times today. The very sad part is we are not on PECO. They need to take a hike. Will be forwarding it to the do not call people since we are on the list.

570-983-3131 - looks like telemarketer. The caller Id - just the phone #. I am on do not call list, but start to get the calls like this a couple month ago.

Yep - another boiler room operation trying to get the sacred PECO account number.  Just waste their time while you are "looking" for your account number or most recent bill.

I am on the Federal Do Not Call list but they call anyway. Robo call announcing I "...am eligible to save money on my PECO bill, press 5 to speak to a representative..."

Your PECO account number is gold to them, don't give them your PECO account number. With your PECO account number they can change your energy supplier. Put them on HOLD while you pretend to get your most recent PECO energy bill to prevent them from calling and bothering someone else. Be polite to them but make them wait, waste their time.
