i got a call from this number also,the guy leaves a message david crane

This number - 614-247-4642, showed called my cell phone; when it went to voice mail whomever called had hung up and the "voice/operator" said "if you would like to call the OSU hospital......".  Have no idea how my out-of-state cell phone number was known, I don't put it on forms at any doctors office.  Anyway - if there is no message and no one picks up the call whatever they wanted was not that important.  Let them call you again, period.

I have been receiving calls from this number for more than a month. Sometimes the number calls multiple times in a day. The result is always the same...goes to voicemail, no message. Today, the number left a message - a completely silent message for 30 seconds. I've probably had 10 calls from them so far.

Now that I know this is Ohio State Calling, it makes sense. I'm a two-time Buckeye, so they must really want my money.

This is the number that 'displays' for some callers from Ohio State University.. even if their extension or office number is different. For example, many of the Medical Center offices will display this number.. There isn't any bad intention, its just the way the campus phone numbers route through their system. I've found that this number shows up when they call me long-distance, whereas when they called my local number, it just shows up as "unavailable".

Yes the number that is calling you is Ohio State Calling it is current students calling alumni and friends asking for donations for the general fund of the University. If you are receiving calls when you are about to come to Ohio State that would be Ohio State telecounseling which are current students calling to make sure you are all set to move in. I believe it's one of the OSU henchmen working for the alumni association. They're ruthless vultures who call morning, noon, and night on holidays, weekends, and they would likely even interrupt a funeral procession.... all in the name of "giving back" to the university.

it's an osu clinic number. it has something to do with medical research....my mother talked to them today. apparently she signed up for it when she was at the dr.

got call this morning 9:17 614-247-4642, i am also at osu, was expecting call, call dropped so dont worry about it, it doesnt seem to be a big deal. also, called back and no response or machine answer

I called a friend from my dorm phone (which is a 614-688-xxxx number), but on their phone the call registered as this number so they didn't answer. Some of you might have gotten the call for similar reasons- do you know someone in a dorm/ elsewhere on campus that may have been trying to contact you? That's all I can think of to explain why that might happen.

The guy called me and when I answered he said "Hi, is Ryan th..." and disconnected. He didn't call back either. Definitely something fishy going on. I think it might be someone paid to make these phone calls for the alumni association and they get paid per call rather than actually talking to someone, so they just hang up if possible.

calls in the evening at the same time of day every time. No answer on a call back.

The caller ID said OH ST UNIV, and I will be attending that school in the fall. So I went to answer it but was too late...yet they didn't leave an answer on my machine. When I called back someone answered. They insisted that no one called me and that I had a wrong number. I told them that they better stop BSing me because I knew I called the exact number back. What in the world....

I live out of state, but I used to live in state.  I am a grad of OSU, where the call originated.

I also live out of state and got a call last night from this number and they didn't leave a message...

I just received this call, but didn't answer it.  I went to the OSU alumni association page, and found 2 phone numbers with the 247 prefix.  Maybe if we give them a call, tell them to take us off their list, they will stop calling.
