I got an unsolicited call from this # today. It was a recording, but sounded live. I am under the age of 45, so this is pretty lame. The "guy" offered to ship me an emergency alert system that was "already paid for" as well as free shipping. You're given an option to press if you want it, and  #5 to decline and not be contacted again, so they say. I just won't answer it again. He also said a friend or family member had recently fallen or something, and that's why I was called. Yeah, right.

I keep getting these calls and then a disconnect.

Yet another local Virginia number selling an alert button.

Did not pick up, got a recording saying I am to receive some type of medical alert device.

Same as all the complaints above.  I have turned off my phone and only check caller ID once in a while to see if any calls are legitimate.  I get about 5 calls daily that are nuisance calls and got sick of being interrupted all day long by these creeps.

Just got a call from this # 571-483-8283....caller I.D. came up as Washington, D.C.  Left no message. I don't answer calls with sketchy or lacking identifications. Happening a lot lately.  Guess people are looking for any way to scam people.

Medical Alert - annoying-scam

I am on the do not call list, however these people call constantly. I usually hang up but this time listened to the entire message. It eventually leads to a live, american individual. The real kicker is that the woman I spoke to was elderly (by voice), she had no foreign accent. I could also hear lots of background call center noise which probably was a recording. This is NOT foreigners, THEY ARE AMERICANS SCAMMING AMERICANS. I called the AT&T but by claim their technology does not allow them to see who it is, so there is no way to reverse engineer spoof callers? That doesn't sound right.

Just filed a complaint online with FTC. Took one minute. If you are on the Do Not Call  registry, please file a complaint with FTC so these jerks will get fined. Go to FTC.gov

I continue to receive calls from this number - robo call but does sound like real person - delay from answering until recording begins for medic alert system; Reported to FTC; I'm on DNC list; Pay VZ for Anonymous Call Rejection & it shows up as Out of Area - should not come thru; The FTC is a joke!  I've reported numerous calls to get absolutely NO feedback.  The DNC list is a joke!  What do they do with the info that is reported?  Anything?  I get telemarketers all the time.  It's tiresome.  I've run out of numbers to block on my personal phone.  Thanks for letting me vent.

Stop the repeated calls.

Yup had this calls now since weeks. Pretty tricky sounds first like it is this guy you are talking 2 but it is recording. Medical system which is paied and wants to schedule delivery. SCAM ALL OVER IT.

Got a call at 9:45am.  They need to watch TV because this was just advertised.  Criminals

Well it looks as if John from Medical Alert Systems had changed his number again.  I report this to the DNC registry every time they call.  The Fair Trade Commission actually called me about these people saying they were trying to find them and shut them down.  They asked me exactly what he said etc. and said there have been numerous complaints about this outfit.  Continue reporting them and maybe they can get them.

Got a call earlier, it answers with a recording that sounds a bit like the person is there with some paper shuffling at times, but then does the whole press 1 to talk to a representative.

They apparently are trying to send people life alert systems and say you have been pre-qualified. However won't say how they got your info, except a friend, family member, etc.

However they called my business not my house. They are just robo calling hoping to get someone to buy in.

Ask to be taken off their list and they just hang up on you.

They call themselves "senior assistant program" which is as vague and useless of a name as possible, but sounding "Official"

This is the third phone number they use to call about the scam...II am getting so I recognize the pause when I pick up and the beginning of the recording "...this is John in the shipping department.." to the recorded background sound of papers being shuffled.
The AARP article is good...this scam is going around.

Like so many, we get calls from this number often and it is really getting to be a pain. Like several others, we are also on the National Do Not Call List, but that does not do any good.

Just got another call from the Life Alert or Emergency Alert company - 571-483-8283.  I did file a complaint with the Do Not Call registry.  My husband was able to speak with a real human female during one of those calls.  He told them to stop calling and she actually asked for the phone number.  "You called me!"

You would have known the callers were the medic alert for seniors scammers if you would have read the previous posts!  And WHY would you ever call a number back that didn't leave you a message???? If you get few calls, and you're lonesome, it would be better to call your own number and listen to the busy signal.

I keep getting a call from this number...the caller ID says v808205418001023.  I have no idea who is on the other end because every time I answer, whoever is on the other end, hangs up on me.  When we call the number back, nothing happens, can't get through.

Got the same long, rambling message from the guy from the "shipping department" wanting to arrange delivery of my free life alert system.

Obvious scam. Wish I had a way to punish them.

I've turned my answering machine off - best thing I ever did!!  Ringer is on really low and sometimes even off.  Those in the know use my cell.  I periodically check Caller ID and just giggle - LOVE wasting their time!!

There is an article in the current AARP Bulletin that warns of, and explains the medic alert for seniors scam, that is well worth the reading.

Pre-recorded message made to sound like it wasn't recorded, offering us a free "I've fallen and I can't get up" type of medical alert system.  This is at least the third time they have called and left the exact same message. Filed complaint with donotcall.gov.

Please stop calling.  I have numerous calls and messages left on answering machine.  This is a robo call and unsolicited.

They say it is a mechanism similar to a "life alert" that was ordered.  Of course, we have no need for this in my family.
