They are scammers claiming to be from Microsoft.  Some idiots allow them to take their home PC's over, and pay them to do it.  They claim to offer a service.  They are charging people to allow them to steal all of their personal info.  I say the fuckerrs get their f****ng hands cut off when caught.  No, I did not fall for it.  Stooooopid people do.

4-2-14 - Just received a call with the same method of operation as the 'Jonathan' scenario.  Heavily Indian accented; tried to explain they were from Windows and calling to help me remove spyware from my computer.  Boy, did I have fun with him!  I actually happen to be a networking solutions engineer very VERY familiar with world of bits and bytes.  For the sake of all those who've shared their experience here.  Totally went after him.  Absolutely shameless and aggravating.  What angers me is that there are plenty of other wholly unsuspecting people out there - senior citizens to name one group - who they would love to connect with and prey on.  Boils my blood.  They should be persecuted and prosecuted to the fullest extent.  Although it goes without saying, I will say it anyway:  no company, ESPECIALLY MICROSOFT or anyone else of repute is going to out of the blue a) be monitoring your computer for spy or malware or b) call you up and just start walking you through a process to do anything to your computer.  Never EVER allow them to do anything to your computer.  Never EVER let them 'download' anything on your machine.  Never EVER journey to ANY website they tell you to go to to do anything.  The only result is a hellish nightmare for you and your computer.  Be vigilant.

I too just received a call from 574-896-5552. My caller ID read David Lambert. It was a call telling me my PC had been hijacked. I asked them to identify their business and they gave me an evasive answer. I then asked them to identify the telephone number they called from and I heard another evasive answer. Business telephone systems can send any telephone number they want when they make a call. There are good reasons why businesses want to do this; like wanting the person receiving the call to be directed to a specific person or area in their company if a callback is required. I've programmed my company's telephone system to do this on many occasions because we wanted to improve customer service. Unfortunately, that "feature" also enables unscrupulous people/businesses to hide their identity. I pray David Lambert is no longer using that telephone number. If he is, he's getting lots of crank calls from people like us complaining about being contacted by him.

Caller had a very heavy foreign accent.  Said he was from Windows and that my computer had been hijacked and was sending out emails due to malware.  He wanted me to allow him to walk me through the steps to correct the problem.  I asked him for his number so that my computer expert could call him back.  Of course, he didn't give me a number; but said he would call back.  Caller ID showed David Lambert as the caller.  I asked him who David Lambert is, but got no response

I also just received the same call, which went to the machine and didn't leave a message. I hope that somebody manages to alert the true, original owner of this phone number. It especially irks me that if true a foreign group would steal the phone number of a fellow American, a number representing somebody's legitimate business no less!

I got a call from (574)896-5552 today, David Lambert ID came up and location North Judson, IN.  The caller says he is Jonathan from Windows and I have spyware on my computer.  I told him not to call me again.  He called 2 weeks ago, 3 separate times from telephone number (210)306-1267 from San Antonio, TX.  Then he called twice from 800252525?.  He better go away.

Just got a call from this number and heard what sounded like a voice mail announcement "please leave a message" then line went dead. Caller ID says David Lambert. The number is listed as his business of nursery and seeds.  Don't know if it has been hijacked.  That happened with the fax number to a local business that then made calls from those Indian people telling me my computer has a problem. I answered since it is a business I patron and was shocked!  I notified the business and they were furious and also noticed they had not received any faxes that day. I answered since there was a ID. I no longer answer 800 or "Unavailable" calls.  It is frightening how technology has advanced to allow criminals to abuse out telephone lines.  We must realize there is NO SECURITY anymore!

I've been called twice today by this number. When I pick up the phone it is silent. I've called the number back, to see who/what was trying to reach me. I got simply a recorded message: "The mailbox is full and there is not enough space to leave a message".  Makes me furious as I'm on the Do Not Call List. No help.

This number has called me several times.   Sometimes I hear non-English speaking people and other times a computer generated voice says "goodbye"
