I just received a call from a 911 number stating that I had three charges against me and that I owed all this money.I threatened to call the police and they said that they would issue a federal warrant to show they were who they said they are. I called my local police and they laughed saying there is nothing they can do .It is a little frightening to have someone thresten you with an arrest. I will be calling homeland security and the atty general's office. Thanks to everyone who has shared their experience with this it has been very helpful.

report it to the attorney general and then the department of homeland security. If they have your personal information then you are a victim of identity theft. Answer the phone one more time and calmly tell them you have reported them to the department of homeland security and that you know they are a fraud and they are trying to scam you and simply hang up. Do not answer their calls again. I had this happen to me last year and it did finally get them to stop after approximately two months. Every now and then they call again but I don't respond and they stop again. Good luck and do not pay them any money!

You can report the calls on the DoNotCall list site, but it won't do any good.  Someone who is trying to scam you out of $$$$$ will break the DoNotCall list law, too.

To stop the calls to your cell phone contact your provider to get the calls blocked.  Or put the pest in your contacts list and assign them the ring tone "no ring".

These people keep calling my cell and job phone harrassing me saying they are going to have me arrested if I don't pay some money. I don't know what to do because everyday they call at least six times who do I report this to?????

RECEIVED A CALL FROM A NUMBER THAT SHOWED UP AS +0000. THE CALL WENT TO VOICEMAIL AND A LADY BY THE NAME OF CHRISTINE PHILLIPS WITH A VERY HEAVY INDIAN ACCENT SAID SHE NEEDED TO SPEAK WITH ME OR MY ATTORNEY AND THAT IF I IGNORED THE CALL, THE ONLY THINK THAT SHE COULD DO IS WISH ME GOODLUCK. SHE LEFT A CALL BACK NUMBER OF 914-297-7204 AND ONCE I RETURNED THE CALL, A MAN WITH A VERY HEAVY INDIAN ACCENT ANSWERED AND HE YELLED OUT "CHRISTINE PHILLIPS" AS IF HE DIDNT KNOW WHO SHE WAS. ONCE SHE GOT ON THE PHONE SHE SAID SHE WAS WITH BUREAU OF CRIME INVESTIGATION. I PLAYED HER GAME AND TOLD HER THAT THE CONVERSATION WAS BEING RECORDED BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR TRACKING PURPOSES. SHE THEN SAID SHE WAS TRANSFERRING ME BUT JUST OBVIOUSLY PLACED ANOTHER MAN ON THE PHONE. HE ASKED WHICH POLICE DEPARTMENT THE CONVERSATION WAS BEING RECORDED BY AND I ADVISED HIM THAT IT REALLY DIDNT MATTER AND THAT THEY JUST WANTED ME TO KEEP THEM ON THE PHONE LONG ENOUGH SO THAT THEY COULD LOCATE THEM AND ARREST ALL PARTICIPATING PERSONS. HE AND THE "CHRISTINE" LADY PASSED THE PHONE BACK AND FORTH FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES STATING THAT THEY HAD ALL OF MY INFORMATION. I TOLD THEM CONGRATULATIONS ON STAYING ON THE CALL FOR THE TIME PERIOD NEEDED IN ORDER TO TRACK THEM AND THAT THEIR LOCATION HAD BEEN IDENTIFIED AND THEY HUNG UP. ITS SAD THAT PEOPLE ACTUALLY BUY INTO THESE SCAMS. I HAVEN'T HEARD FROM THOSE PEOPLE SINCE. I HOPE NO ONE EVER GIVES THEM ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION. ITS USUALLY DUE TO A PERSON APPLYING FOR PAYDAY LOANS ONLINE AND THEY HAVE THE INFORMATION THAT WAS ENTERED IN ON THE APPLICATION. ITS ALL A SCAM. PLEASE DONT BUY INTO THEIR "DEBT COLLECTING" GAME.

I also received a call in heavily accented English from someone who identified themselves as Kevin Jones.  He said he was from BCI-Bureau of Criminal (which he pronounced CRIMEinal) Investigations and said he need to hear from me or my attorney.  If I ignored the call, he wished me good luck.  I listened the message several times, but could never understand the number he gave me to call back.  It was 562-368-_ _28.  The ID that showed up on my phone was 0000.  I had taken payday loans out in the past, but that was a long time ago, and they were paid off.  This sounds like a scam to me.

i received a call from a meagan johnson, 252-378-3167 ext 387, heavy accent. saying there are four charges against me regarding a payday loan that was never paid. she claims to work for CASH ADVANCE USA. im assuming this is a scam, no loan was ever taken out.

I received a call at work from 518-396-5754. The caller spoke English with a heavy accent stated he was front he Bureau of Criminal Investigations. I asked him with which agency. He told me he worked for the Federal Government and that I had taken out a payday loan over the internet over a year ago that was never paid. He gave me a website to verify that BCI existed. The website was that of the New York State Troopers which we all know is not a Federal agency. He then told me that I would be arrested today on several criminal charges and have to appear in court tomorrow. Now all of this might scare me if I had taken out a loan and if I were not a Sergeant with the Sheriff's Office where I live. This is a heavy handed and illegal attempt to collect a debt.  I kept a calm and even tone with him and asked several questions. He became frustrated and told me to lower my attitude. LMAO. When he could no longer answer my questions he said bye-bye sir I do not wish to talk to you anymore and hung up.

I received a call at my job today from someone with a thick Middle Eastern sounding voice. He said he was calling from BCI (Bureau of Crime Identification). He said someone was trying to use my social security number. I told him nevet to call my job again, and told him I feel he is a fraud. He said his name was Officer Mark Robinson. On my cell phone he left a message sayin my name and stating I need to call himm immediatley because I could get detained from my job. He said his name is officer Mark Robinson at 401-757-3058 xx 441.  I am afraid this person is going to keep calling my job and cell. What do I do?

My threatening, rude call from individuals with thick Indian accents, was from phone number 518-304-1157. Even though the phone number is different, I think it is the same people you all are describing here.  I notified the "real" BCI via e-mail complaint. The captain of internal affairs, New York State police department contacted me, and assures me they are looking into this, and the types of calls that are coming from supposed "BCI". He advised me to not give out any information and to simply hang up asap if these people ever call back.

called my cell and then left several messages from an unavailable # and 212-555-5555 and 415-880-5599 which of course are all bogus cell #'s and if you call these numbers back they are disconnected. they said to call 1-585-331-8279 otherwise they would do the same as they told other people that they were officers and that they worked for the BCI and that I had toget back to them before the time expired or they would do paper work to have me arrested? this is just one of the groups that seem to be calling. they always are foreign (from India or somewhere else!!) i did not call them back as after doing research this is a scam like several others that are going on out there!

just called the people back and they told me I was going to be fired from my job.  The guy kept screaming at me.  Who do I call to stop this.  It's funny that I'm going to be fired because I OWN THE COMPANY.

I just got a call from a Mehan Johnson who had a thick Indian Accent. (585)331-8297.  Told me they were going to take legal action and detain my at work.  I'm laughing and asking myself for what?  Had a payday loan 3 years ago and it was paid.  A whopping 350.00 for a new washer.  This is a joke!  I called back and all she wanted to do was argue.  I hung up on her!

Better Business Bureau has issued a national alert about phony debt collectors that are calling consumers nationwide and claiming that they have defaulted on a payday loan and will be arrested if they don?t pay immediately.

Claiming to be lawyers, the scammers say they are with the ?Financial Accountability Association? or the ?Federal Legislation of Unsecured Loans? and often have the victim?s Social Security, old bank account numbers or driver?s license numbers as well as home addresses, employer information and even the names of personal friends and professional references.

this is a scam i have spoken with the new york states attorneys office and i am pressing charges against these people they can not threaten you with the police department or charges that are filed they are acting like they are important people and they are criminals  i have pulled my bank info and i have never taken a loan out with this payday place and they wont even mail or fax me proof but i have bank proof

I have received the same kind of phone calls froma Officer Daniel Black from BCI for a supposed Pay Day Loan that was taken out in December 2008, I know for a fact that I did not take out a loan at that time because I have been dealing with these type of people for over two years, I had taken out a pay day loan over five years ago and know that I did pay that back.  The guy is from India and is very hard to understand, he has treatened to have a warrant sent out for my arrest and has threatened by job and home also, I have contacted my supervisor at work along with our security company. I believe that this is a big scam.

Same situation just happened to me when I got home someone by the name of Officer Gary Brown had left a voice message on my answering machine.  Spoke in a very broken English with heavy accent and was difficult to understand what he wanted.   He blatantly threatend my Job and Home if I did not return his phone call.   Still do not understand why he would be calling me, he reference someone by the name Charles O'Neal, but I do not know anyone by that name.

I first received a call from Officer Angela Smith from number 708-850-0101, she said she worked at BCI and needed to talk to me regarding money I owed.  When I called about a week later the number was disconnected and is still disconnected as of today.  Then I get a phone call from Officer Gary Brown from BCI, mind you he keeps calling my work and I finally spoke with him on Thursday and supposedly I took out a loan for $250 in 2008 and as of right now I need to take care of this because I have 3 counts against me: fraud, deception, and one other, I couldn't understand him very well and he spoke so fast that I have no idea what exactly I am being charged with.  I never took out a loan from US Cash advance.  I told him to never call my work and he called right back and wanted information from my boss and then proceded to yell at her.  I have filed a police report with these people and don't know what else to do.  They will not leave me alone and one of his messages was to the point of threatening my work and home.  If anyone knows what else I can do, it would be much appreciated

apparently we're on the same path - and it smells fishy.  spoke to them, the want to see bank records that predate my account (as I swapped netspend for metabank back in January)

Was this a real situation or a scam?  They called me regarding one of my friends, they use a phone I have in my name.  They asked me to give them the info to call them, I had Gary Brown call.  Heavy accent couldn't really understand completely what he was saying.

Received a call from Meagan Johnson at ext 387 at this number who claimed she was from the Bureau of Crime Investigation, attempting to have me pay a bill that has already been paid.  I spoke with Special Agent Chris Koerner who took the same information from me.  They are saying that they are working for USA CASH ADVANCE parent company for CASH NET.  I have called CASH NET and spoke with ROBERT and their compliance department.
