The Company's name is Xentel or iMarketing Solutions aka iMark Connect. They are a professional fundraiser that just got a $500,000 fine from the CRTC for misusing charity exemption on the National Do Not Call List. Xentel called consumers who had registered their numbers on the list and promoted events on its own behalf or on behalf of organizations that were not registered as charities with the Canada Revenue Agency. They have also been fined $40,000 for consumer fraud in Iowa State claiming they are firefighters when they are not. "Little or no support typically goes to a donor's local fire department, and about 75% of the money donated is kept by Xentel and never supports any fire fighters." They were also fined $100,000 by South Carolina for violating the state's charitable contributions law for failure to disclose that callers were paid soliciters and misrepresenting how the money would be spent. They were prohibited from calling people in the state for 3 years.
Xentel was originally GWE. It was started by Geoff Pickering, Mike Platz and Al Kidd
Many years ago,Mike Platz was on W5, where he was called the biggest legal crook in Canada. So, if you are one of the people calling other people and asking them to please sponsor several under-priviledged children to attend a Legends of Hockey charity game, ask yourself this. How can Xentel have sponsors for 40 thousand children when the arena holds 3 thousand?

This is NOT WAVAW. It is a fund raising organization who raises money often without the permission or even knowledge of the charity and who can and does keep 90% of what they raise legally and possibly keeps all of it. If they didn't tell you that then they broke the law. This company - I forget the name off hand -  has been fined millions of dollars for doing just that in the past. I made the mistake of giving to them myself before I learned their con. If you want to give to WAVAW or any other charity give to them directly that way they get ALL your money instead of a tiny percent. Next time they call ask them who they are if they don't give the correct name and tell you they are a fund raiser call the police. Call the police anyway if they didn't tell you who they were right off the bat. That is the law.

If you attempt to "opt out" your number will be confirmed as live and added to a suckers list for repeated future calls
