The company that is calling is the Credit Bureau of Canada-it is a debt collection agency but not a government collection agency.

Another call from this "genius" who asks you to stay on the line... but then the connection is lost....

to answer your question, if you ask them not to call they cannot continue to contact you - make it very clear that they are not to call you at home, work, or on your cell or you will contact a lawyer for harassment (the threat alone should stop it as collections in Canada is restricted).  If you are in a different country, you will have to look the guidelines for the country in which you reside.
Some of the laws ( from my last checking):
~ they cannot call before 8 am, and after 8 pm
~ they cannot call you on a number in which you specifically tell them to stop calling you
~ they cannot harass you
~ they MUST put you through to a supervisor should you request (this is a good idea if one is harassing you)
~ you are entitled, by law, to deal with someone else if you are being mistreated by the one who is dealing with your file currently (if you do in fact owe anything)

I keep getting calls from the number 1-604-636-3026.  It is an automated recording which inputs my name, however, I have no outstanding debts for which they'd be calling (I've checked since reading a couple of the earlier posts).  with such a generic name you'd think someone would call.  Very important my a**.  Personally, if they want to reach me they can pick up the phone and call-who stays on the line for automated calls with so much telemarketing nowadays ?

I get calls from this number, 2 or 3 times per day at my work.   They are trying to collect some bill from someone who I don't know.  Even though they have been told this time and time again, they still call.  Isn't it illegal to call me at my work?  Isn't it illegal to contact me for a debt I don't owe?  This is causing my company and myself extreme stress and time, and I can't get it resolved.

I was also receiving a call from this number and no one answered so I called the number back. The woman who answered didn?t introduce herself and was demanding personal information, she eventually told me that she was from Collections Canada but was extremely rude, so I didn?t really believe her, I thought she was trying to scam me. So I hung up and called Collections Canada and found out that I did infact have a small outstanding credit from a cable bill from an apartment I had moved out of years ago. They were able to clear it up for me and were much more professional than the first woman I spoke to. The company who is calling is Recovery Corp. and are a collections agency for the Credit bureau of Canada.

i keep getting these calls on my cell and house phone,,, how do we stop them from calling?

I have been getting calls for over a year...first monthly..then weekly with the same conufusing message about this being a very important message.  The message is now coming from 604 636 3026.  How do I stop this ?

This number displays but when called no answer and may be a collection agency by the name of Credit Bureau of Canada. This would be misleading as I would believe the credit bureau collecting on outstanding debt would have a name such as Trans Continental Collection Agencey and this message is coming from Toronto, ON.

I called back the number and was told there was a note for my file, I asked the name of the company and was given the runaround, until she said to hold and I would be transferred. I asked to who and was not given an answer. With the lack of information I was given, I was frustrated and ended the call.

I keep getting calls too, and same thing... no one speaks when I pick up.
