I just got a call from this number, when I answered a computer generated voice said goodbye and hung up. When I tried to call back it just rang, no answer, and no identification.
I don't even own anything PC...
I wonder if this has any connection to the phone calls I have been receiving about being eligible for a lawsuit in connection with birth control. I keep asking them to stop calling me... But.... It hasn't stopped them.

The caller was a man with a thick accent who said his name was "Ben". He asked for our company owner by first name (he could not even pronounce "Frank" correctly). I asked what the call was regarding. He tried to sidestep me. He finally mumbled something about Google. I asked him if this was regarding our Internet listing through Google, he said ummm, YES, as if he had just thought of it. I asked to be removed from their list and hung up. Geez, I have had at least 6 of these scam type calls today, and the day is not even half over!

Got a call from this number today- told the same thing about him calling from Microsoft and that I have malware and viruses on my computer . When I refused to go to the website he wanted so they could "fix" it , he threatened to shut my IP address down. Guy had a very thick indian accent.

I just got a call from this number asking if I had received the flowers they sent. When I asked him what he was talking about he hung up. I don't get the scam....or the prank

Thick Indian accent, claimed to be calling to help me as they were receiving international error messages from my computer and wanted to fix them as they were an online maintenance department. I kept asking who they were and handed the phone to someone else who spouted the same, and at one point identified themselves with google

Just got call from one of these Indian bozos saying his name was RYAN, he was from "windows"... not Microsoft, just Windows... I thought hmmm... he call from Branch Comfort at 607-363-9777 but when I told him I wasn't home he gave me this number to call back...855-731-4936. Naturally, I didn't call. Both numbers come up as Telemarketers. He wanted me to go to my computer and see for myself that there are hackers trying to hack in... now, I'm a little tech savvy and would not do that anyway, just because...but he peaked my curiosity and I looked up the number and the comments on these folks. Thanks to all of you who took the time to report these geeks.

"James" from this # called me today. Gave me the story about my computer sending out signals and my computer is at risk, blah blah blah. I told him that I knew he was full of it. I said I would NOT do anything he asked just because he asked me to. I said funny how I just watched a news report about this and how I'm not going to fall for it. HE KEPT ON TALKING. The guy just wouldn't quit so I gave him a few choice words and then said goodbye. Later I called back (showing up as private on their end) just for the heck of it. No answer. So sick of these jerks.Oh my caller ID said "Branch Comfort". Interesting.

Just received 3 calls from these bozo's - they used the windows approach. I told them I am a Sr manager of IT at my corporation and was absolutely certain they were not who they said they were. He then started shouting obsenities at me and my husband picked up the phone - they started saying really disgusting stuff to him as well. They then told me they knew where I lived and I was going to pay them one way or another. We hung up on them and then they called back 2 more times just continuing to threaten us - then we called the police.

| Lilith 2012-11-06 21:29:35 Unknown |
They called me trying to tell me some malicious software was reported in my computer. And I asked them questions but then he wanted to transfer me quickly to a supervisor who then didnt answer any of my questions and cursed at me! I also received a call yesterday from 202-621-0436 from a Jake Rehardo ( supposed name) stating that because I was a responsible citizen the US government is giving me a grant and to call to claim my grant code. What gives these people away is their thick accents! Ask questions and dont give any information

Thanks everyone!! I just got call twice, once from this number and again from 607 732 9064 I just turn my fax tone on them to get them to fax right off! Lol! I never pick up calls anymore from anyone who I don't recognize. The person who mentioned that the Bell Calling centers in India are giving out our numbers is probably close to the mark. I also have my voice mail set to 10 rings, they usually lose interest after 6 rings if I am not here to fax tone them.
My incoming faxes go to my computer. really easy to delete junk faxes that way. Here in Canada our 'do not call' list is a joke. The system was hacked into and all of our numbers were stolen or sold.
I regularly remind friends to not use the 'do not call' list, as it just generates more spam.

thanks for letting us know what the end result could've been, it's such a relief for the rest of us who managed to not get sucked into this scam. I'd upvote if I was registered.

Trust your instincts like I did mine and don't allow them access. I'd rather my computer crashed and I have to fix it at a local trusted computer company than trust some guy with bad english on the phone. This kind of scam is way too easy to fall for though, if I'd been out of it for whatever reason (just woke up for example) they could've caught me off guard.

Have called me many times. A few weeks ago, I answered and when told it was about my computer problems, asked how to get off their list. She said I would have to pay for that so I hung up. Yesterday they called again. I asked why they were so dumb as to waste their time repeatedly calling someone who obviously was not falling for their scam. He did not reply and after several seconds hung up.

Just got a call from them today. Tried to get as much info from them as possible. Went through the first few things since they just wanted me to open up my eventviewer. (eventvwr). That was cool, so I did.
Then they wanted me to go to their website. www.instapccare.com that is where I stopped. Told them I had another call and put them on mute. Googled this instapccare thing and this page looked good. So I read it. I them told them I had an urgent call and had to go, asked for their number. They told me to look at the web site. I told them I was no longer at my computer and had to go and asked for their number.
They gave me 011-800-500- then they oddly hung up.. Weird.. hehehee. Thanks everyone for their posts and questions! Figured it was a scam from the get-go. Microsoft would at least have something built in or an e-mail. I never use my home phone number for anything online so that was my first trigger.
I am going to report them through my phone company. their number came up as unknown so it looks like they are getting smart and blocking their number. But I know the phone company can find out where it came from. :)
I will see what I can do and find out and hopefully have something fun to post after! Thanks again everyone for the info. Hooray internet! :)

Feel totally stupid! Gave these bozos access to my pc because I fell for their SCAM! They claimed that if I didn't sign up with them to renew my windows security, my computer would crash in 1 week and would no longer work! I was leary at first then became downright suspicious when the high pressure sales pitch started! Their 800 number on the site they directed me to is even wrong. It is an overseas number with one too many digits but they claimed to be calling from Seattle! I googled them on my iPad while I was online and found this info so I disconnected my Internet immediately. NOW I CAN'T ACCESS THE INTERNET ON MY PC! I keep getting a request for access that won't let me click DON'T ALLOW!

Another call from these donut holes. My number is on the do not call list. Sometimes they come on the line, but most often it's just dead air followed by a busy signal. I don't know to whom I should report this behaviour, but as a senior, I'm beginning to wonder about my security. Mind you, they wouldn't
get much off my computer....no banking, no credit cards, no nuthin personal.
| Brenda 2012-05-22 18:16:30 Unknown |
Same idea as the others.... same phone number... told me from instapccare.com and that there is an issue with my computer etc.. told him I had a Mac, that didn't stop him, he continued to issue warnings to me about my pc. I terminated the call
