Got a call from this number telling me my microsoft was sending out messages. He wanted to know what kind of computer i have. I told them they should know if they are calling me to tell me this. It was a foreigner and had a heavy accent

These people call me all the time and it sounds like the same guy each time! Claims he is with Microsoft Windows and that they have noticed many error messages and want to fix it at no charge. I always yell at him and hang up. Is there an actual company or agency that I can report them and press charges? He seriously harassed me the 1st 2 times.

Well I received a call from this number about 13.15 hrs CET in SPAIN! When I answered (in English) I just heard background junk as if in an office environment but nobody actually addressed me. Why on earth do the US authorities not DO something to stop this kind of cr*p being done. I have a daughter in New York and thought that something might have happened until I read this web site!
Mean time I will put this number on teh refuse list on the phone. Hope it works!

Received a call from this number, 607-737-1409, from "Jenny from Life Support", calling about my computer.
I asked her, "what about it?"
She disconnected.
Her voice was of Oriental/Asian origin.

This is a SCAM, I got this call about a year ago, he will use some sort of remote assistance software like Teamviewer to access your PC and show you supposed errors. Then will offer to fix them for a nominal fee. Btw, Microsoft will NEVER contact you by phone in the first place.

Do you know how they got your number did you have anything on craigslist cause I got a voicemail about my lost dog

Seems that this has started up again. Caller advises that your PC has been used in illegal transactions and has been infected. DO NOT GIVE THEM ACCESS or PAY THEM MONEY TO FIX! ***SCAM***

Just got a call from this number 807-7371409 with an automated woman's voice on the other end saying "good-bye" after I said hello several times. Hopefully, it will be the last.

My wife gave these guys remote access to the PC...they didn't have too long... Anyone know what is the best procedure to check if anything got infected? She sent me a text and I called her to disconnect from the internet immediately....so perhaps 2-4min they may have had access....

just got a phone call from the man who said he was a Windows Tech, spoke with an Indian accent and said his name was "Mike". I said I don't have a Windows computer, which is true, and after a moment of silence, "Mike" said that I was a "great big liar"

These people have called our telephone 3 or 4 times recently, once from an east coast American city, once from Texas,
and now from this number - 607-737-1409, and also listed on my call display as 16077371409 today. The time that I answered they said they had seen that my computer is being hacked, and would like to help me fix my computer, and then demanded that I go to my computer and open it to a certain area. I did not, and hung up. Have not answered these numbers since, but they are continuing to call.

Thanks to the contributors to this thread, I finally realise what's going on. I have got this call several times from very accented gentlemen telling me they are "Windows Security" company and my computer is at risk. It was obviously a scam so I once kept them on the line just for a laugh, and when they cottoned on that I knew what they were doing they hung up.
However, I get a call from +16077371409 every few days (which is very annoying as I am working outside my phone's country so pay roaming costs). Once they got through and I told them to get lost, but usually when I answer there is silence for 6 or 7 seconds and then a computer voice says "Goodbye". So I looked up the number and now I know who it is, I will save the roaming charges and not answer.

UPDATE:
Called the number back and hey it's not in service!
| Christina 2013-11-14 01:01:48 Unknown |
Called ID said that this was a payphone.
Then a guy that sounded like he was from India came on and mentioned something about our computer and that it would crash soon unless he helped me go through the computer system with his help.
I am pretty alert when it comes to scams and this sounded fishy.
Background chatter sounded like a bunch of people were calling different numbers and giving the same spiel.
I finally told him that I don't understand and I had to go. Hung up. They tried calling back, but I let it go to the answering machine. They left no message.
Crazy. They banked on me answering because it said "payphone" on it!

My wife just got a call from this number. The guy on the line was talking about the Windows stuff. After my wife called him out on in, He immediately got rude and started making death threats. Told her to call the police and get it reported. My advice with these people is just call it in to the local police department.

This number called our home 4 times yesterday - no one spoke to me so I got suspicious. They called back at 11:45 (sounds like a computer-dialed number) last night and hung up on my husband (woke us up of course), and their number is now blocked from calling here. So try your call block service folks!!!

Got a call today from this number asking me I'd I had lost a cat. I explaines I had lost a dog and they claimed they were a microchip tracking company and I could hire professionals to find my dog. When I asked what the professionals did they told me " put up flyers, contact the pounds and rescues and network the dog on online. Already did that myself and I don't know of any legit microchip company that offers these services. They must have got the info off of my craigslist add. How cruel can you be to get a persons hopes up about their lost animal. B*****ds.

Today (27.06.2013, 10:33) I received the same hidden number call from the same Indian accent speaking man who tried to convince me that I had a problem with my computer, it was hacked, I should press Microsoft and R buttons to write a code, bla-bla-bla. I asked for the company name and number and he gave me Add-center and #442032895726, because the Head Office is in UK :) I hung up and called Bell immediately and reported this person. They told me that they will make a feedback and try to stop him. Hope so...
