I got the same call from 607 795 4626, and when I told them they were listed as scammers, they said that I loved my computer if I trusted them, and if not, "go f*ck yourself you dumb b*tch. Does anyone have the slightest clue as to how they get our information? He had my mom's name, and am worried that they may have credit card access.

the guy rick from pronerds.com has saved me from loss of all my data and i have subsribed to them to service.i have called them probably 3 times regarding issues on my pc and my wifes and my kids and it may take some time to fix but whether your connected to them by phone or online chat support, you just relax and let them take over your pc and fix it. besides it's not them that put the bug in my computer. that comes from my use via the net or email and they provide Norton suport, there the real deal friends and they have saved my time & $$$. This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

Pronerds called me about technical support for my computer. I checked them out thoroughly and found them to be a reputable company. They take complete care of your computer(s). They keep it running in good shape. You still use Microsoft Security Essentials with the Pronerds software.

I have found the sales people and technicians friendly and competent. The people I have talked to have gone out of their way to help me, and fit into my schedule. The can also help you find bargains if you are looking for electronic gadgets like the Nook. You can usually reach them 24/7, but the hurricane Issac has temporarily changed that to hours 9am to 9pm.

I would recommend this program to anyone who wants a positive computer experience. In the past, I have lost data because my computer was not maintained well. I did my best by using defrag, etc., but nowadays computers are becoming so intricate and complex they need more skill to keep them running.

I hope you will consider this great new way to keep up and running,

Thanks all of you!  :)

Shalom,

I got a call with heavy accent from a guy claiming to be MS certified tech.  He said he knew about my machine being infected and I wouldn't be able to tell.  I asked a couple of questions about the nature of the virus and how he could tell and I couldn't and he had to transfer me to a supervisor.  We went around and I decided, that even if they knew something, I wasn't going to let someone from PRONERDS roam around inside my machine.  Almost any machine will have some software or cookie that looks suspicious, so I could see how they could make anyone believe something needs fixing and scoop up some dough.

If this outfit is legitimate, they lost all credibility with me by the unsolicited phone call.
