Yes, this company if fraud. This mislead people in believing that their rate are lower and three months later they are up 30% more.

Hi everyone:
I am posting here because I am scammed by Palmco. And I plan on taking further action, possibily a class lawsuit if we get enough people on board.
For me, Palmco signed us up without getting a consent. They ended up overcharging us for around $180. Money aside, I filed a complaint with board of public utilities. A disgruntled lady called me and blah blah blah. I tried to get a contract, the lady refused and told me that the board of public utilities has them (BPU). I called BPU and the promptly sent me an email containing the document. Guess what, the signature is FORGED. I think they are doing the same thing to many customers.

So if you are scammed by Palmco, follow these directions:

1. File a complaint to board of public utilities.

2. You'll get a call from the same lady probably, ask her to send you a contract that you signed, (if you didn't sign a contract, tell her that the signature is forged and it's a criminal offence, and demand a contract--you have the right to).

3. If she refused, the BPU should have the contract (it might take some time after the complaint though). Contact BPU and speak to the customer service, request them to send you the contract via email.

4. If you didn't sign the contract, save the forged document. They forged a signature and it's a serious criminal offence. If we get enough victims with forged contracts from Palmco, it'll be an easy victory with some serious consequences for Palmco. I hope to bring that company down.

Contact me so we can gather enough people and call up some lawyers:

This sales man came to my apartment and asked me to show him my bill. I gave him my bills because on his name tag, he has put BGE and PalmCo. I thought it was a subsidiary or something. After he filled a form and made me sign and left. When I read the form after he left, I saw a note which says lower rates are not guaranteed. I run out and caught the guy in the next apartment. I politely expaliened to him that what he said and what is written on the contract are not the same. He tried to explain and bla..bla. I said I am not interested and asked him the original contract I signed. He was not happy but he gave it to me. Surprisingly, after two weeks, they send a welcome letter which explains I have switched. I also received from BGE explaining the same thing. I mean... what? I have both copies on my hand. What is this.... I wait to call them and call my lawyer immediately after that. This are legit scams...!

They came to my door today. The guy(Chris) showed me an id for PalmCo. He asked me for a bill of gas and electricity. I thought it was weird so I asked him if he could come another day because I didn't know where my bills were. He got upset and took his hat off and said no that it is almost impossible to catch people again and said he would wait. I said that I was happy paying what I pay with pepco even if it was more expensive but that I don't show people my information. He got upset and walked away. I googled this company and saw this thread. I don't know if this is illegal for them to come to peoples houses but I am very pissed at this.

Palmco offered me the lowest rates.  I took the bait and had what i know now as a three month introductory rate and than it jumped to 3 months of high rates.  The bill went from .06 to .08 I called and asked why it was so high when the going rate was .065. They said its variable.  So i said i'm cancelling.  I took three months to cancel in which I was charged .085 .087 and than to further kick me in the a## i was charged .11 when the going rate was at .055

They came to my door! They represented themselves as PSEG. They asked for my bill I was so confused. Claimed that I qualified for a % reduction. Wanted info. I'm very concerned. 1. Are they aloud to go door to door I thought that was illegal? 2. Am I in danger of fraud or being switched? I asked for all documentation that he was taking on me and took it all back and called the police. But, I'm still worried. What should I do?

they have the ability to also raise the price of your gas to double or more what your current utility is charging you and you will have to pay it.  they do not tell you in advance what you will pay other than the first month introductory rate.  PALMCO are criminals.  do not do business with them.

I rarely pickup unknown calls, and I'm glad I did... I live in NJ and I pay about .11-.12 cents per kwh with PSEG and now with PalmCo I'm paying about .06cents per kwh.. Hence, I'm now paying less than $100 monthy for BOTH electric and gas during summer. Take note, I don't turn our A/C off!

I just called PALMco and a salesman called me back.  He was a great politician and did everything but answer my question.  I kept asking him what a current customer pays for their variable rate.  He kept saying that he can't tell me that and it is based on the current market price.  He kept telling me that his company was in business for so many years, and if was a bad rate than he wouldn't be in business and that I could switch whenever I wanted.  He didn't mention that it takes 45-60 days to switch and that you are still paying his higher price.  He kept saying that he couldn't tell the current rate for current customers and that if it was important to me than I should go elsewhere.  I told him that of course if was important to me.  We hung up and then I googled to find out their current rate and saw this website.  They are a bad business.  Beware!

These guys will bend you over.....   They bait you in will a lower rate....in my case 6.8 cents per kw....but the catch is that it is an ajustable rate....and not in the normal sense of the word.....I got the 6.8 for 3 months which saved me $5 a month as my transmitter "West Penn Power" was around 7.3 per kw.... Then the 4th month they jacked it up to 12.5 cents per kw....  <---------- not a typo.....almost doubled it....   Hell, I almost paid it until I realized what they had done....called West Penn Power who said I would have to call Palmco....  15 minutes on hold....then got a girl who told me it was an ajustable rate....yada yada...  After giving her a good butt reaming she had to talk to a supervisor.....then called me back later that day with a reduction down to 10.5 cents per kw....I explained to her that I was going to cancel my subscription and turn them into Better Buisness Bureau.....which immediately got her attention....."let me see if we can do better"    Long story short she lowered it to 8.5 cents per kilowatt.... Just so you know you can't just switch back....takes up to 2 billing cycles.... so the next month I looked at my bill and there was no credit issued....and they raised it to 13.5 cents per kilowatt...... After another phone call they issued me another credit which I haven't recieved yet....hell I haven't received the first credit they issued....and I will have to do this one more time before I am done with them.....all in all this experience will end up costing me $50 bucks and that is with much effort....otherwise they could have gotten me for hundreds......I wonder how many other unsuspecting customers they do this to......Sounds pretty lucrative to me......This "family owned buisness" is eating good by being a bunch of crooks.....If you decide to switch make certain you have a fixed rate.....otherwise you will be sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think not!  I have spent anywhere from $1 - $8 per month MORE than what my "old" utility company was charging!  Not only that, I have spent at least 2 hours ON HOLD... sure the person handling my call was nice, uneducated, but nice; however, she cannot attest to anything.  Everyone says the same thing, "we never promise 12 - 15% lower bills - check your contract".  Yeah, but that is what the original salesperson said and the contract didn't arrive until much later!  What a headache!

Palmco is a scam.  Yes, they were cheap for 3 months.  Then they jumped from 7.43 to 9.21 cents/KWH.  I called in and they said the rate is now 9.9 today.  I told them they did not say it was an introducory rate and gave me a credit at the 7.43 rate.  At the same time wanting a decision about cancelling their service.  Sounding like they wanted me to cancel.
I called in again as a new customer and was told their current rate is 7.43.  Asked if it was an introductory rate and if existing customers get this rate.  Was assured the rate has been staying at 7.43 for several months now.  Told him our neighbor got a bill at 9.21 (yes neighbor on Palmco too), then he said he didn't have this months rates update.  Told him it was last month's bill, then he said it must have been an error and wanted the neighbors name to check with accounting.  Didn't give it to the scammer.
Use them for three months, but make sure you call met-ed and tell them to switch you back as soon as the 2nd bill comes out.  Takes 10 day waiting period then the next meter reeading to switch back.  Sounds like the great rate lasts only 3 months.  The PA consumer advocacy office said to expect 12 cent rates within a few months.
I think there should be an investigation into their business practices in that they do not reveal their rates for ongoing customers.

My good rates were until my end of June bill.  my end of july bill jumped.  The post from May (above) obviously got the increase before me.

They actually left a message to call about my "energy account" When I called back they had the wrong name and address in their system, but insisted if I gave them an account number they would have it right. I refused and he got nasty. I told him I would do nothing over the phone and was instead called "ignorant and uneducated" after which I promptly hung up. I would never do business this way!

Palmco listed electric rate of .0743/ kw for my area of PA vs. 0887 being charged by the default supplier (Met Ed) so I switched fulkly aware that the Palmco rate was a variabel rate and could change in the future.  To keep myself abreast of any future rate changes I signed up for the PA Utility Commissions PA Power Switch weekely rate updfate e-mails.  Just got my bill for Apr 12 to May 11 and when I divided the dollar amount of the Palmco portion of my bill by the number of kilowatts I discovered I was paying not less, but rather more than the Met Ed rate.  I called Palmco to find out what was going on and they said, oh well there has been a rate increase.  When I asked what the effective date of the rate increase was I was given some double talk, but they insisted the rate I was charged was the correct rate, that is .0889,  I then asked why they continued to show a rate of .0743 on the website.  First answer I got was that it was the PUC's fault.  When I contacted the PUC, as I suspected, they told me Palmco was responsible for providing accuarte and current rate info on the website.  Second call to Palmco resulted in a lot talk but no explanation for why they were showing outdated rate info.  Look out for this company.  They will give you a song about being an old family business and how they will save you money, but you had best closely watch what they charge you or you too could be paying more than you thought.

I can tell that your one of the people that work for them, I just received the same call but now its in Pennsylvania a 267 number.  267 numbers are usually cell phone numbers, and while he asked me to give him the information on my PECO bill, and that he would hold, I conveniently Googled  the company and found this thread. When I told him that they are scams he was offended, he wasn't rude but he is not getting any of my information!!
