Got the same text 8/31/11. For giggles I called the 612-562-1706 # listed, a number disconnection message played. Said the # 812-464-0166 has been disconnected. I also replied to the text msg telling them to f off...I wonder if they'll reply? haha

This is a Scam! I called Wells Fargo and they stated DO Not give them any information, They use this to take your Card number and they will use it. This is the new form or way to do Identity Theif.

Got the txt. Called Wells, and the guy on the line confirmed that they had been aware of customers from "several" of the large Banks getting phone calls like this but it was new to hear it coming via txt. Went for a new card anyway.

I called. An automated voice came up, saying something similar to the text. Though it sounded like the google translate lady, not a Wells Fargo automation.

About ridiculous that anyone would think such a text would come from WF -- obviously a phishing attempt or a prank or both.

Just got a text with the same thing. What a piece of BS. Why would WF *TEXT* this information at 9:30pm instead of calling or sending a letter about it???
| JeanaK 2011-09-01 02:25:21 Unknown |
Me too. Change your passwords and check online account statements.

I received a text message from this number. "WELLS FARGO BANK ALERT: Your CARD has been DEACTIVATED. Please contact us at: 612-562-1706.". Thing is, I don't have a Wells Fargo account must be a scammer.
