No one is on the line when I pick up. I put them in my reject list; they still call. How do I get them to stop?

Call came @ 2:11 PM EDT on 08.14.2009 -- caller ID read OTTAWAHULL, ON, apparently originating in Canada. If I don't recognize the name or number on the caller ID whomever is calling is wasting their time because I don't answer.  I've been on the do not call list since day one but that list means absolutely nothing because it hasn't stopped the calls.

This is some company that wants to sell you credit card fee reduction services.  I asked them to remove my number from their calling list, stupid b*tch just hung up on me.  Next time - get a police whistle or freon air horn, when they call and you get a live person let them have it!

I am also on the DNC list, but every time I try to get some info to get them stopped, they hang up.

This time, I played along.  The automated message said they were from "Credit Card Services".  When I spoke to a representative, he asked if I wanted to lower my credit card rate.  I told him I did.  He asked if I had over $4000 in credit card debt, I told him I did. (even though I have no credit card debt.)  I was trying to get to the point where he would ask me personal information so I could question him back.

But then the curious question happened:  "Are you over 70 years old?"
I replied no, thinking a credit card company would be interested in younger people.  With that, he hung up.

It concerns me that they are targeting older people exclusively.  My grandparents would probably fall for this-

The call came in - Caller ID had the number and "Ontario".  I listened to the auto message and then pressed 4 to get the live operator.  Got a guy.  He started into his routing when i interupted and asked where they got my nimber.  He replayed that they do not have a list.  I started to then say take the number off the list - "What part of 'We do not have a list' do you not understand?" and then "If you don't want our calls then unplug the phone and shove it up your a**".

Just received a call this morning from this number.  I do NOT answer any calls where the ID is "Blocked", "Unknown", "Unavailable", Anonymous" or "Out Of Area" or I don't recognize the caller ID.  The caller ID on this call was "OTTAWA   ON", no name and then the number.  Since we know people in Ottawa, I called the number back twice and both times I received the, "This Number Is Not In Service". "Please Check The Number and Dial Again"!  From what has been reported here, I see that it s a scam.

Have received many calls from this number over time. Same comment as other. No one on other end. Probably a computer calling to nail down the most likely time you will be home. Common ploy. I have asked my number to be removed (Very quickly) and have just left the phone off the hook. Today I tried a dial back using my caller ID and got a jumbled bunch of static and not a return number dailing. These people are slimmy. Please help this number get disconnect. If you get calls from other solicitors, ask them where they got you number. Threaten to turn them over to the Federal Trade Commission. That might get their attention

Today, something about reducing interest on a credit card.  Just hung up to not waste any more of my time.  BTW I do not own a credit card.  Obviously a scam.

Received a call from this number this morning at 9:00 AM. No message was left. I am convinced it is the same spoofer robocall that calls about lowering interest rates or getting a better auto warranty crapola. This number is just one of many, many, many non-existent numbers they throw on the Caller ID to trick you into answering. Utilize an airhorn or whistle if you decide to call them back and get a "human".

I picked this call up by accident, as I was expecting someone to call.  When I just heard dead silence on the other line, I checked my caller ID and realized it was a dumb telemarketer.

My parents have received numerous calls from this number and no on eis on the other end.  I call the number back (# on caller id) and it rings busy.  I added my parents number on the "do not call" directory but I believe these people are working from an old list.  Its very irritating.  I am sure the telephone company should be able to do something about this issue.

Have no idea who this is.  They leave no messages.  Calls at different times of the day.  Would like for them to stop.  We do not answer, but the phone ringing with unwanted calls is annoying.

Received several calls from Ontario, CA 613.216.2172 with no message.  Called back and no company name was given, so I hung up.  Now I'm charged for two international calls to Ontario, Canada, which totaled over $6 with all the taxes and carrier cost recovery fee.

It's a scam.

Receive calls from a toll free number and then when called back to check we are charged an international call fee.  We are on the DO NOT CALL list but apparently it doesn't matter to this company.  I usually do not answer unsolicited toll free numbers, but when we receive numerous calls from a particular number I sometimes check to see who they are .  Do not do this as we have been charged international fees on our phone bill.

Received a call while driving and there was no one on the other end.  The Caller ID indicates that the origination is in Canada.  I do know that a lot of fraud is now coming out of Canada, targeting people here in the US.  The most often used is by mail and includes a large check that is drawn under a legitimate company name and a phone number in Canada to call to inquire how to get the money... which involves sending money to them for "taxes" on the "winnings"...

Though I have tried to "Call Block" this number through ATT, the service will not allow me to do so!

I get calls from this number 3 different times a day, every day. I finally decided to answer and it was a 60 second recorded messages stating that interest rates on my credit cards are set to increase tomorrow and if I want to lock in a low interest rate, I need to speak to customer service. So I did, I pressed 6 to find out who it was that was calling and to get more general info as to what type of scam they are trying to run. After pressing 6, it connected me to a live "Card Services" agent who asked which cards I would like to lock in low interest rates and the card numbers. My first and only question was "which bank are you calling from?" The guy paused for about 7-10 seconds (I could still hear his breathing and other background noise), and then hung up on me.

Short of having the FBI trace calls connecting to my number, I doubt reporting a complaint with the FTC will do anything since most likely, the 613-216-2172 number is faked using some sort of Spoofing (see spoofcard.com). The best thing I can think of to do is have everyone ANSWER the call and have everyone connect to the Card Services Agent and then hang up. If no one answers and connects to the service rep, he/she wont be bothered. BUT if EVERYONE connected the call WE would then be the ones WASTING these a-holes time, effort and money. The goal is to increase their operating overhead while wasting their time, frustrating them out of business. What would you do if the thousands of potential customers you were seeking suddenly all returned your call, flooding your system with junk leads and phone hang-ups? Think about it -- it makes total sense.

Phone rang, I always look at the id first, it was 613-216-2172 in Ottawahull, ON.  I know no one there so I ignored it and the phone stopped ringing.  In a few minutes, the message waiting light on the phone turned on indicating that a new voice mail was stored.  Checked vm, silence, but I saved it anyway just in case.

If they are indeed based in Canada -- filing a complaint with the FCC or FTC won't matter, will it??  The U.S. agencies would have absolutely no jurisdiction.

I am very annoyed with these calls, as well.
