Why can't the phone company provide a service that when you call in with a complaint about a phone number harassment, they put that number on bypass?

somebody called Mr. Elgin calls and drops and says he is calling for jobs. bulls*** i dont know anybody from Ontario.

call received  and person said i had a hundred gift card coming. when i asked why i was being given this money, thay stated it was because i was a good user of my credit card. thay had read off the last four digets and had my name correct. i was than asked for a email address to complete the trans action. i did not comply and ended the phone call. the women had a foreign accent.

Have gotten several calls, no message left,  who is calling?

After 10 days of getting harassing calls I ended up using a high pitched emergency siren placed on the phone receiver. This took approx 3 days before they got the hint.

I made countless inquiries and it seems that since the call originates from a foreign country phone number there are no USA FTC regulations in place to stop this harassment.
I even tried entering my phone number onto the Canadian Do Not Call list. This was fruitless since we do not live there.
This yet another attempt by spammers to avoid the US FTC policies and regulations.
They got caught using land lines moved onto cell phone usage and got caught.
Now they have resorted to using foreign country phone numbers.

As one poster mentioned I entered the number in my cell phone contacts and place the ring tone setting to 'no ring'.

They said they were calling in regards to my Mastercard....I don't have a MC!!!  They asked me to confirm my addy and I asked them why they had the wrong address on file (even though it was the correct address).  Sounds like a scam to me!

I have received dozens of calls from this number, they never leave a msg, when I do pick up they are trying to give me some gift card. they know my name and last 4 digits of my credit card WTF! It sounds like some indian call center. Even when I am swearing at them they try and talk over me to give me their pitch. They wont go away!!!

Call #1 Tried telling them not interested. They kept reading their script. I hung up.
Call #2 I told them if I won something or entitled to something send it in the mail. They still kept reading the script. I hung up.
Call #3 Before they started to speak I held phone away and said .. I told you yesterday NOT interested have a nice weekend and hung up.

If they call again they will get an earful from my telemarketer HIGH pitched emergency siren.
The conversation will go like this ....
Hello.... Hello.... Hello???  ... Turn on High pitched siren blast and hang up the phone.
If they call back the conversation goes ...
Did you not get the message .. turn on Siren again.

"they" never leave a message and when I call the number back, I get "We're sorry but the number you have dialled has been disconnected or no longer in service."  This disconnected number manages to call back the next day, though!  Amazing!!!

UPDATE:  I attempted to file a report at the Do Not Call Registry site, but it was rejected because of an invalid area code ... They need a new programmer as this is a major system FAILURE.

i keep receiving  calls about a free visa card -i think it is a grmmick

They keep calling about giving me $100. I keep saying no and stop calling but they keep calling. They call again and either hang up or stay on the line and not say anything.

Keep getting calls from 613.333.3456 . No one ever answers or leaves a message. I thought it was the FBI or something, until I noticed everone was getting the same type of phone calls as myself. Strange! If anyone has an Android phone got to market and type block calls, this will stop all the call from these folks. B Blessed

We're just started receiving this call today and when "googled" it we found out all the complaints. Regrettably, donot.call.gov, doesn't take the complain since the Area Code is not from USA.
We have to accuse them to the CAN authorities to trace them overthere...

They called every hour and so I finally took call.  Offered $100 gift card, had last 4 digits of Mastercard.  Said I wasn't interested.  Called again 7:00 a.m.!!!!!  I listened (shouldn't have!).  Wanted me to verify name, address.  I did because I figured they had that anyway.  Then wanted an e-mail to send confirmation to.  I told them I didn't want to give them e-mail.  She said just give an old one.... so I made one up.  Then she asked if I wanted trip to Bahamas.... I said NO!  and hung up.

I just reported this number to the FCC (Federal Cumminications Commission).  They have called me every hour between 6 pm and 10 pm and then when I didn't answer they started again the next day at 8.  I answered just so I could tell them to stop calling me, but the lady on the phone would not listen to me.  She asked me if I was busy and I said yes, that I was at work.  She told me she would call me in 1 hour.  I asked her not to call me again, to just tell me what she wanted.  She just kept repeating that she would call me in 1 hour.  Once again I told her to not call me in 1 hour, to not call me again.  She kept talking, I finally hung up on her.  She called 1 hour later.  I'm tired of this, so I reported them.  Hopefully the FCC will shut them down.

they had my info to may be we have something in common like playstion they hacked maybe these people got are info from them didnt give them anything but they knew everything

I got this call from Global Rewards as well today 01/04/2012. After they said they would send me the free gift card they asked me if I would be interested in traveling to the Bahamas.  I said "no" and they hung up on me. I reported this incident to the FTC here https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/. I suggest everyone to the same so they STOP!!!

I have also been bugged by these endless calls from this number in the past week starting Mon. Jan 2,2012. I took the idea of saving the contact as DO NOT ANSWER and the ring tone as no-ring so I can ignore them from now on. Obviously a scam.

Get calls 8 to 10 times a day for past several weeks...We DO NOT ANSWER but they never give up. I think that the next time thay call I will give them FAKE INFORMATION...Maybe the calls will STOP...Man what a pain in the A%$#@

Kept getting calls from 613-333-3456 and another number from New York.  Same people and scam.  Female with thick Indian accent had the last 4 digits of my credit card and said they wanted to give me a $100 gift card for using my credit card.  I stopped her mid-sentence and told her that was my Father and he had died in a car accident the night before.  Haven't had a call from them since.  A friend who also was getting calls from them started answering the phone, FBI, how can I direct your call.  So far he hasn't received any more calls either.

Just received the first call and decided to check it out....I know NO one in Ontario, Canada so I am assuming this is another scam.   Started getting phone calls 2 weeks ago from another number in upstate NY and they call at LEAST 8x a day!  I have never had these kind of calls until recently.....very frustrating!!!!!

I have received MANY calls from this number now - as early as 7am and as late at 11pm at night. I have told them many times to take me off the list. Sometimes its a person, sometimes its a recording other times its just random noise. It's rather annoying and I want to report them so hopefully it will stop.

these people keep calling and asking for my mother  I told them I was calling the police on them if they don't stop

Idiots call at 5:00 AM with the lat 4 digits of a credit card and an address thinking you'll be dumb enough to give them the rest of the number based on the promise of a gift card.

missed 3 calls...wife called verizon ,they told her canada is where its from... wife asked "the the BEEP do you know in canada?? cant win

If you have a smartphone there is a free app called tCallBlocking Lite that you can try. I downloaded it and put that number on my list and now my cell does not even ring when they try to call.
