I got a call from these people on Tuesday. The guy told me I owed $2153.98 on states taxes from 2011. I lived in Ohio at the time I filed my taxes with H&R block so I know they were all filed for the state. I've never received anything from the IRS claiming I owed any money or saying i didn't file for the state. The guy told me if I didn't pay them anything right then they were going to put a lean on me. I told him I wasn't paying a damn thing until I knew what it was for. I told him to send me proof of what I needed to pay and he said it will look like junk mail when they send it. It sounded very fishy so I called the IRS and they told me it didn't seem legit to them. Seems like a scam to me.

I received a call from this number the other day. It was due to federal student aid which i applied for over NINE years ago! Isn't there a stature of limitations on such things? They claimed I owed six thousand dollars for one semester at a university I enrolled back in 2005! Only thing is, I never received any of this money from federal student aid and didn;t even attend one class at that university. I thought I had withdrawn from that institution.

I keep getting calls from a Laura Mann with this company.  I have told her to stop calling me that I am not the person she is looking for but she continues doing so.

If I continue to receive calls from her I will report this company to the BBB and FTC.

These people called my work, and were extemely rude to my boss demanding my boss give them my schedule so they can call back, when my boss offered to take a message for then the lady got really nasty demanding to know just how soon she could get the message to me, and saying just how important thier call was to avoid legal difficulties by getting back to them...It's in regaurds to my student loans. I have been paying small weekly payments on these loans for a few years now as per an agreement I worked out with the actual lender. I guess they want thier money back faster? I was told by a representive of the lender that as long as I made a payment of some kind weekly my account would show in good faith. My boss also says the women refused to identify who she was or what company she works for, I thought that all debt collectors were required to give that information in the begining of the call?

Well, they are legit as far as having their name registered as a legal entity with the Ohio Secretary of State, however, manay of their collection practices violate the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act!

So just by being "legit" does not mean that they conduct themselves the way they are supposed to under the law! This people are as abusive as they come!
If you have a school loan, contact Sallie Mae and deal with them, or contact the original creditor! These idiots play with your mind and want to make you feel insignificant and ashamed!
If you owe money pay it, however, pay what you can, not what they want!
The economy is very bad right now and many of us who were paying, cannot do it anymore because of cuts in hours at job, or loss of a job altogether!

Hang in there and do not let these criminals depress you!

Well I sent them the dispute letter and guess what.....the creditor charged off my account! Can they do these during the dispute validation? Reliant hasn't gotten back to me with the validation and the information that i requested. I disputed the charge off with experian but lost. They said the charge off was accurate. They have yet to validate my dispute. I have at least one more week before the validation period is over. I have yet to hear from reliant again but i will fight this to the end. DAMN them!!!

Surprisingly, the lady was very nice.  She was calling from a collection company on behalf of the University of Phoenix.  I told her that I was not paying the claim as the school froze me out of my account during exam week because of the university not submitting my financial aid information in time.  Plus that was over a year ago and I have since filed bankruptcy on this one.  She asked me if it was discharged and I told her yes and recieved her fax number to send a copy of the discharge over to her.  She called back and said that everything was situated and I should not receive any further calls from them.

I received a call from them stating my UOP bill needed to be paid. My loans paid for the classes so i shouldn't have to pay for them again since my loans covered it. They called before i received the letter and he told me that they already had a monthly plan setup for me. I told him that i was broke and that I was willing to make payments but the amount i stated wasn't good enough. Then he asked if had relatives or a credit card that i could use to pay. I said no. He said i had 6 months to pay before it goes on my credit report. I have to say that i was floored because i can't afford to pay.

We sat up a plan and I said i would use my tax return to cover the majority of the cost. He wouldn't take any other payment other than account or credit card/debit card. I told him to call back later and i'll give him the info. I took this time to think and do research and realized that UOP scammed me! I'm paying on loans that were used to pay for those classes. The same classes that i'm in debt for but those classes were already paid for by the loan...So i shouldn't pay again right? It doesn't matter if you pass or fail since the class was already paid for...right. I know that legit colleges don't do this because if you have a balance you can't start classes until it's paid or  they will take you out because the class isn't fully paid for but once you are cleared to start and everything is paid for you don't have to pay again. You might lose financial aid and have to pay out of pocket for the next class but you don't have to pay out of pocket for a class that was already paid for.

Anyway I received the letter from the agency and it only contained the letter of validity. Nothing about the company or the pre planned payment schedule. The man was nice but when i started to ask questions his voice went low and cracky and i could tell something was up. That's why i requested the time for him to call back.  I'm sending them a letter of dispute and a Cease and desist letter for the phone calls. I want to be contacted by mail and mail only. After hearing the horror stories on several websites i believe this is the right course of action.

If they do threaten me about garnishment I will go to court and tell the judge about their violations with phone records and paperwork. I will admit they almost had me but i smartened up in time and will challenge this debt because i think it' unfair and unethical.

Employee Paul Williams continues to call even though I have requested all phone communication to cease and informed him he may communicate by mail. I tell him this each time he calls, then hang up on him. Today I will send this company a certified letter enforcing my rights under the FTC and I will purchase a tape recorder for the next time they call, so I can sue them!!!

I got a voice mail from 614-322-0516 saying "contact us at 614-452-6097" then "this is RCS regarding a recent claim that has been filed against you. you or your legal counsel must contact us to inform us of your intentions about this important matter"  then the "contact us..." recording starts again.  It is obviously a loop.  It could be a collector for medical bills, or Condor Capital.  Not sure which, but I am getting ready to file bankruptcy so I don't care.  According to other websites, they are collectors for Phoenix University and are called Reliant.  So RCS may be Reliant Collection Services.

I found this posting by chance, but I actually have dealt with RCS, and I think some of you are giving them a raw deal. They helped me avoid a potentially serious issue with the State of Ohio, and were very civil towards me... I just thought I'd say something good about these guys, as most of my experiences with other collectors have not been so pleasant!
