This individual call and stated that he was calling requesting a hand-out, credit card or donation for XYZ (can't recall) organization. I said no, and he hung up. The call was suspicious. The number displays the name of Benefit Systems in Columbus. I call the number back, they answer and immediately hang up.

I had the same experience as Tony.  I believe that it is some sort of vets association...I gave them some cash when I was 19 and they will not stop calling....I tried to reverse search their number but got nothing. caled the number back and it is like they pipck up and hang up on you....pisses me off....

Yeah, Paralyzed Veterans of America.  They called me yesterday.
They've been told not to call again, but they don't understand
what that means.

Called my home. They hang up on me. I called the number. They do not pickup. I searched the internet and found this site.

They have raised funds for the paralyzed veterans of America Buckeye Chapter since July of 87.  In thier heyday they had 9 offices running in Ohio and grossed 100K/week.  More than it sounds as the charity only got 10% back then.  The phones were manned mostly by drig addicts and alcoholics who were payed cash daily(20 of their gross sales) by selling trashbags, American flags and seasonal items.
It was a single owner company that made the propieter millions of dollars.  Due to bad business practies and a decline in credibilty they had downsized to 1 or 2 offices headquarted out of karl rd.
The straw that broke the camels back was being audited by IRS.  The phone people were called independant contractors and were responsible for their own taxes as well as co-fica.  After a former "employee" went "legit" they were brought to court.  The judged ruled that all the phone workers were deemed to be employees and the company was liable for cofica for all monies payed out from 87-99.

Benefit Systems 614/468-4025  They call several times a day and leave no message.  I will be certain never to donate to whatever they are soliciting for.  Very rude and frustrating.  We're on the do not call list - wish paid solicitors could be stopped.

I got a call today with a caller ID of Benefits System, but the number is from Cincinnati, OH.  The number is (513) 521 5347.  No voice mail was left. I called back, and no one answered.  Very suspicious.

I came home this evening Sunday around 6:00 p.m. and my wife told me that a solicitor called from 614-468-4025  Benefit Systems and began his script and my 13 year old son not knowing who it was, hung up. (Yeah for him).  The person called back from 614-468-1075 again Benefit Systems and my son told my wife not to pick up the phone.  The solicitor left a really nasty message on the machine complete with profanities.  We are on "Do not call list" so what gives?  Can I file a complaint against them with the State of Ohio Attorney Genera?  These guys really have some bad practices and need stopped.
