Same guy is trying to scam me tonight!! found him on craigslist too!

I encountered the same guy with the exact email as a response for a Craigslist ad for  $250/3br- Located on Mission Bay in Pacific Beach in San Diego, CA. The ad# is srnkr-3235590492@hous.craigslist.org. Gorgeous waterfront home. I thought I hit the jackpot. He had a really thick weird accent that didn't at all sound like it matched the name.  Thanks for the posts. I new it sounded to good to be true. I think I will pass. He did have a new phone # 619-272-9341

I have been getting calls from this number the guy says his name is James Wisher.

I encountered the same deal today while looking for a vacation rental in San Diego.  He contacted me as George Ebbs using the email: g.ebbs@yahoo.com.

I also was scammed by the same person, same exact email exchange from Craigs List.  Any luck getting your money back?

He is now going under the name Mark Warren.  I inquired about the listing in San Diego as well.  He asked for deposit via money gram.  I have been asking questions via email and was just given phone #.  I thought it may be too good to be true since everything else in the area was so much more per night.  Glad I googled the phone number...

Found him on Craigs List.  He tried to rent us a vacation rental that we had rented the year before.  We recognized the photos and know the owner, who is not Chris Ebbs.  He gave the same phone number 619-356-6634

The FBI said to report it to https://complaint.ic3.gov/ctf.aspx They have set up a separate task force to go after people like him

I have a guy trying to rent me a condo in Chicago for a week by the name of John Giebler. When I looked up the address and called the apt building attached to that address.. it turns out the address is for a high rise elderly housing apt building, not a condo. John was supposed to call me, but has not. Found him on VRBO.

I was looking for a rental place for summer vacation in San Diego and looked at the Craigslist (which was a wrong decision). couple guys got back to me : one is john Giebler another one is Jeff Robinson.

they both offered me great rentals for $200/night (normally costs over $400/night). in the end I rejected John's offer and went along with Jeff Robinson. then he asked me to WIRE money to an account in Gerogia. it raised the red flag and I decided to pass.

his phone number is 619-356-6634. I never talked to him over the phone so I am not sure if he has accent or not. but I am glad I googled the number and found this website. BE AWARE!!

I am so thankful for this posting...I was looking to rent a Chicago condo available through John Giebler. Same thing... 1/2 fee plus refundable security deposit! i'll be looking elsewhere now!

I responded to Craigslist ad for a vac house in Santa Barbara. I kinda knew it was too good to be true, plus the email I got back had bad grammer & English. Be-careful , It's a scam!!!!. Since I know alot about RE properties, he couldn't answer any of my questions I bumbarded him with so he hang up. Go to the county records find out who owns the property, don't be a VICTIM!

I just got an e-mail from an ad on Craigs List for a Lux condo in Solana Beach this summer. The price was fantastic for this mult-million dollar home, maybe too good.  The name used now is Chris Ebbs at this number 619-356-6634  I gogled it before calling and holy crap it seems these people are renting houses/condos all over and the ads are the same each time. BEWARE!! I SMELL SCAM!

Forgot to say - yes, the name is John Giebler that he is giving. Ours was for a property in Carpineteria, just south of Santa Barbara.

We were done in by the POS. Foolish us were rushing because we had just recently missed another rental by waiting all of 2 days to finalize.

He is going by the name George Ebbs now. Same 619 phone number, and his English seems a bit better now. Found ad through craigslist and failed to do enough due diligance on VRBO, etc.

Live and learn, though I feel pretty dumb.
