Thanks to the idiots who administer the Canadian do-not-call list, this one came in on my cellphone. This is probably a scam. They are claiming to be "marketing for the Sunset Group" and my number has been chosen to receive $2K+ in vacation dollars for a trip to Cancun. All I have to do is take the trip and advertise by word of mouth, blah blah blah.
But here's where the scam comes in.

I have to SECURE my trip with my credit card! NOT IN THIS LIFETIME!!!!

I'm in witness protection, my cell phone is government blacklisted, and these jokers called it.  Same deal as the last comment.
When I asked to speak to someone in charge regarding where they got the list from, they ignored me and hung up.

They're in the US, they got your number from RANDOM DIALING.

'this is a personal business matter' I get this evey day or so.  I have tried calling back but they hung up on me, dont know how I can stop this from happening

They called an i missed the call.  Tried to call back and it went instantly to hold music then indicated all their operators were busy.  I waited 3 minutes and no one picked up.

This number calls at least once a day. Mostly I get a hang up. Haven't gotten as far as being offered a free gift - I feel jipped!!!!

I pressed 1 because they called me on my work phone, so I had nothing to lose.  I was connected to some girl with a southern USA accent.  She had a whole schpiel about how I had won $2000 off a trip to some resort in Cancun that regularly costs $3000 per week.  After a few minutes she said "can you give me your credit card number and I'll use it to book the hotel for you".  Even if it is 100% legit (which it is not), I wouldn't pay $1000 for my hotel in Cancun.

If you work for the company that does this, here's a tip - Change the voice that says "Congratulations..."  I really don't trust that guy.

wow how annoying i just got that call to, funny though cuz i was doing my history homework and just reading about Stalin at the same time i got the call! i was like WTF!?!?!?!!?!?

ya  im from mississaug   i just got the call  im with Fido  and  idn  it said the same stuff above  and yes it is a b***s***  it adds ur number to a call LOD  (List Of Directory)  Its a spammers way of fuking with u  so  dont pick it up  i hung up when it said press 1  then called fido and they told me its Bull

Call on my cell phone saying I had won a trip and to press 1 to claim my prize.  I hung up.  This is ridiculous!

Just got it a minute ago. I hung up.

called my cell 5 times in a row.. i never answered any of the calls...

they called me this morning at 7 am, and as I work night time I do not get up at that time. the good thing is that I did not answer. thanks for your comments

Just got the call and I'm in NB Canada.  Didn't answer, I know better.  Tell all to do the same, if it's something important...that's what voicemail is for.

Just got the same call this afternoon on my cell phone AND my home phone. I didn't answer either one, guess I'll never get my free prize now.

Sorry to say it, but if you answer a long-distance call (or any call) from a number you don't know ...well, you're the opposite of my chosen nickname for this comment. I didn't answer, and will never answer these calls...so keep 'em coming. :p

Missed the call,called back told me i had won a trip to cancun i said please do not contact me again and she hung up...long distance call that i have to pay for as well.

Guess they're taregeting Cell phones in the GTA (Toronto) area today, based on the thread of comments!   I answered, got dead air, and call disconnected in a few seconds.

I work in telecommunications,  it IS illegal to telemarket to anyone who has registered their number (cell or landline) on the Do Not Call list.  As suggested earlier, how do you stop out of country telemarketers? You likely can't, at least, not without lots of aggravation.

I just got a call from this number as well. I waited around for a couple seconds but nobody replied. Don't these folks have anything better to do? I live in the GTA (Toronto, ON).

just got the call. dont press 1, it probobly adds you to a list of "active" numbers so that telemarketers can all you more.

Just got a call now from this number on my cell as well..it shows up as coming from California..stayed on the phone about a minute and there was nobody there so I hung up then came here to search! Thanks for the fill in!

Didn't take the call as I know it is a spammer calling my cell phone.  If this is illegal in Canada how can I report it to the authorities to have this stopped.  I am Canadian and my cell phone is not open for business for telemarketers.  That is why I no longer have a land line and rarely give out my cell phone number to prevent harassing telemarketers.

tryed calling them back i just get a machine that plays music. didnt waste more then 10 seconds on them.
