I too get calls every year by an representitive calling himself Mike Lowery. If you watch the movie BAD BOYS, that's the name of Martin Lawrence' character. HUMMMM!!!
He is well spoken but very persistant about getting money from me. I don't like to be pressured for money from an organization that does not do anything for the general public to notice and want to be a part of.
If you read the PCNY.ORG site, one of the lines is"There is no membership cost to individual members and the dues structure is tailored to provide a reasonable assessment for each local."
I am not a member so why aks me for money?  I smell SCAMM!!!!!!!

I have received several of these calls over the past few months, even tho I told them to stop calling. It is my understanding that the NYS policea nd it's agencies do not solicit by telephone.

Called asking for the owner, I said speaking. Wanted donation for policemen's families, etc. Asked if they could count on my support, I said no, sorry. Became very pushy asking why wouldn't I want to support them. I said hey, money is tight, we can't give it to everyone. Caller continued to push. I cut him off saying that's it, don't want to discuss it anymore and he said "Oh, I'm sure you don't!" while I was hanging up. Very gruff, rude, obnoxious. I wish I wasn't so polite to him.

Evidently the PCONY has changed their business name at 631-204-7500 to read Fundraiser NYPD.   THEY ARE A TOTAL FRAUD!  This organization should be ashamed of itself.  They will try to convince you that you are donating to the NYPD and solicit fund to send you a window sticker and a card, both of which are NOT recognized by ANY police agency.  THESE cards and stickers will NOT get you out of a ticket.

I got a call from someone claiming to be a police officer this morning, representing the PCONY. I asked if they were tax-deductible. He said no. I asked him to send me a brochure and he was squirmy about mailing me one. He said they don't like to mail them out except to donors, what with the cost of printing and postage.

This is awful suspicious, since every non-profit I have dealt with is tax-deductible and will gladly send you a brochure.

I have recieved 5 calls just this weekend from 631.840.1020, also with the call ID, PCONY. I answered this call last week and was put on hold by an answering service of some kind that told me my "call is very important. Please don't hang up," but I hung up. Now I get these call salmost everyday and usually in the afternoon (12ish) on Saturday AND Sunday.

PCONY called from 631-840-1020. Sounds like a scam to me.

The call never goes through...I simply am left with a message that states the call could not be completed as dialed; please hang up and dial again.

I most heartily agree that telemarketers are nothing but psychological terrorists with total diregard as to how highly invasive and disturbing these calls are.
How many of us have experienced the total dispair of waiting by the phone for an expected call about the welfare of a loved one or further word on some other matter of great importance, only to grab the phone and find out it was a call from some damn telemarketer ?
It's about time time for our politicians to put some real teeth into laws that will prevent these predators from invading our lives.
Also the long list of exemptions allowed by the the Do Not Call registry is a pitiful joke.
And if legislation can not solve this problem, then maybe technology can?
Like some sort of a "T-chip" for instance?

Telemarketers are nothing less than psychological terrorists and should be dealt with accordingly.
They also have no regard whatever for any anguish that this form of  terrorism of incessant calls may have upon ill and/or bedridden victims.
And although the use of automated telemarking call technology is steadily increasing,
I believe that those vultures who still participate in this lowlife business for a living should be made individually and legally accountable for their intrusive and distasteful terrorist actions.  
At least use any monies obtained from levied fines to pay our the phone bills of their helpless and innocent victims.

they are a not for profit and you can't stop the calls. they do not need to abide by the do not call registry rules

We've received several calls from this number, in some cases more than once a day.

Did not recognize the caller so I just let it ring.  Caller hung up when my greeting played.

i get phone calls from this number several times per day, and even though ive told them several times to stop calling me, i still get the calls daily.  its ridiculous that i put myself on the no call list and it does absolutely nothing...how do we stop this?  its a hassle to my wife and i!

Have called at least five times every day.  They ask for my husband, when I tell them that he is not available the call me by his name.  When I instruct them that this is not my name they hang-up on me.  We are also on the DNC Registry.  I have told them to stop calling but they continue to do so.

Same complaint as others-- phone calls from 631-204-7500 on weekdays, Saturday and Sunday, with a nasal-sounding guy saying "Hello???  Sue????" into my voicemail like a retard (heLLO, it's a VOICEMAIL system, I can't HEAR YOU).  On his first message he did say he was calling for a donation for some police organization but I can't remember which one.

where do we need to report to stop this call

they keep calling me too and i have no clue to make them stop and they call at 9pm each time and my kids are sleeping any ideas how you guys got them to stop???????????????

I noticed a few phone calls from this number on my Caller ID and looked it up to find out who it is. Since my aged parents never pick up the phone at home, this scam outfit never talks to anyone at my house, but they have called a few more times since. EVERYONE: SCREEN YOUR CALLS AND NEVER PICK IT UP IF IT IS FROM PCONY.

PCONY 631 204 7500 .  informed caller I was Going to report them to Do No Call List. I have reported two other callers and have received calls from the federal government on follow ups to the reports.They do take it seriously.

I get calls from this number at least once a day.  They not only call after work, but on Saturday, they called at 8:30am!  I can't believe that the law allows these calls from 8am to 9pm.  I'm also on the Do Not Call list, but organizations like this are exempt.

Whenever it's something I don't recognize (like PCONY), from Ontario, or 'Unknown Caller' I don't pick up (and there's never a message), but it's annoying to have to stop what I'm doing to look at the caller id.  And the ringing is very annoying too!

I have received a couple of phone calls from this number and they just hang up. I'm not even bothering on calling back because they don't leave a message. I don't want them calling me please stop.

Have called every day @ 6:15p EST for the last week and does not leave a message.

I too am getting phone calls from PCONY. First they say they are representing the NYS Association of PBAs, then they say they are representing the NY Fraternal Order of Police. The third time, the caller said he was calling on behalf of a medical charity but I recognized his voice and mannerism and told him to stop calling. According to the PCONY web site (www.pcny.org) The Police Conference of New York (PCNY) founded in 1925 is a highly regarded statewide association. It's objectives are the protection of the interests of law enforcement officers, sponsorship of legislation perceived to be in their best interests, the giving of aid and assistance to the membership.

So i got a call from this 631 # and i actually picked up the phone and a gentleman came on explaining that they1 were the Police Conference of NY. They basically want MONEY and THEY ARE NOT LEGIT. I called 311 to see if they could help; but unfort. they told me if this PCONY was not telemarketers then they could not help me. If they are then i should call (888)382-1222.

I am also on the do not call registry but also keep receiving calls from this number during weekday evenings and on Saturday mornings too.
I even picked it up to listen to the speech the guy whent into ,he was asking for donations and he would sent out a window sticker for my car
then I just said please tak my number off your list and hung up ... still get calls though?

I got the phone call today looking or my husband...after i said he wasnt here and can i take a message they hung up me..and they want money??? they are rude...why would i?

Add me to the damn list.

They won't stop, even if I answer, they either stay on the line silently, or hang up.
