Ok, well I got the same text, and really thought it was real, and did what shouldn't do. Now, I am soo scared. What can happen, and what do you recommend I should do?

I got a text message from 347-669-2403 wanting me to reply and see the "new" Beatles movie......needless to say I deleted the message.

I went online (not on my Iphone but on my home computer) and there is nothing. It came up with THIS site, so I'm posting... I delete msg without responding, and don't hit the link... just in case.

I just received a text message claiming I had been chosen for a $1000 Best Buy gift card. I DO have a Best Buy Credit Card, but used it ONCE and returned the item.

The # that texted me was 347-280-3349 - NOT the number listed on this thread. But I didn't see any other threads by my search on Best Buy Gift Card fraud/junk.

I received a text message saying I had won a $1000 gift card for best buy. I've read several of the comments and I don't think this was from best buy. I have never shopped there or done any business with their company. I read the terms and conditions and it states you have to purchase products and refer friends to receive it. Who knows how they got my number, but before you decide to go off half-cocked on best buy think about how many applications, reward cards, etc you have put your mobile phone number on. Always read the fine print, don't forget you can just block the number.

I just received a text message saying I had won the $1000 Best Buy gift card like all the other posts; however, it came from 347-674-7823 and said to go to http://winner.bestbuy.com.cards4unow.info/529003 - I immediately assumed it was a scam and googled to see if others had experienced this. I'm glad there were other posts regarding this matter because they confirmed my suspicion so I deleted the text and did not go to the site.

Thanks so much.  My mother in law called me late last night excited that she got this.  She don't know anything about technology, has no computer, and don't know how to reply to text messages.  I was skeptical and told her I would check it out for her.  We are in Ohio.  Sounds like this is going out all  over.   Now I have to bust her bubble.  You would think these people could be tracked down. I'm sure they are getting a good laugh.

Got a text from a cell(Intellius claims it's a landline, but Dex says Cell) # 347-635-5268 (NY) stating I had won a $1000 Best Buy gift card and to click on a link with BestBuy.com in it... Not going to click!!!

I got a text from MosesCornellj@selectprize.com at 5:57 AM saying best buy is giving away $1000 gifts at www.selectprize.com to first 100 people.  I googled this email address. Must be another scam.

Just got a message from 1-347-762-8760 only minutes after a craigslist ad with my number on it went live. Message was "You have been randomly selected for a BestBuy Christmas gift. Get your free $100 gift card here http://bit.ly/BBGiftcard." It takes you to a website that looks like it was taken right out of a Best Buy ad or their website, but the fine print admits that they are not actually associated with best buy. Almost too clever, I can see people falling for it.

Definitely a scam.   My message arrived in the middle of the night also.
My text said Karina Rupp sent you a Brightkite msg.
Same deal $1000 gift card with a link.
Again as stated in earlier posts, Best Buy would have sent you an email if it was  legit.

From Number 609 952 5172.  Sounds similar to others.  Received text message about going to a www.access website to win $1000 gift card from Best Buy.  Came at 3am.

I too received a text message about a $1000.00 best buy gift card. It was linked to a Facebook page under best giveaway. 1111440601  it's really frustrating that these corporations can't implement better security for their accounts.

Knew this was to good to be true.

I received that same "BestBuy" $1000 gift card message.  Never went to the website but Googled it.  I received the text at 4:58 am from 781-786-2648.

Me too! Apparently it's still around....how the hell did they get my number and name?! My suspicion is facebook, since the url in the message looks just like the ones in spamming posts ion fb that you see around every once in a while, like with a picture of a laughing person and the message "This is is funny LOL check it out!!" and then the link.
In summary, I am overly creeped out. If they start spamming through TEXTS now, I am gonna....do some very extreme thing that I haven't thought of yet, mark my words.

Received the text message from phone number 970-682-7068 at 3:32 a.m. on Tuesday April 26, 2011 the message read:  (my first name), You've been selected to receive 1 free $1000 Best Buy Gift card. Please visit MYPRIZECLAIMS.COM within 24 hours.

I didn't realize it was a 10 digit number at first, after all I was half asleep, so text stop back to it thinking it was a just one of those promotion texts and it would stop. Well about 1 hr later got a text back how are you? I knew it was a scam, so wasn't going to give out any information. But replied back, who is this. The person replied back saying I messaged them first and wanted to know what my name was. Replied I will not give out my name, I received a message from you first about a gift card. Again they said no you messaged me first, what is your name? I just want to know how you are.  Well this went back and forth for a while never giving out any information, finally told them this was a phishing scam and I will not give out any information, do not contact me again, I have reported this phone number and web address to godaddy.com support.  So got 2 ok and a smiley face back. Never did reply again.

Tried calling the number restricted from a land line and it came back with a recording that this was a text message number only.  I called my cell phone company and had this number blocked. Going to call Best buy customer support to see if can get any information on what information may have been given out. I only have a rewards card with them, not a credit card. But kind of worried now.

I got a text scam with the same info only the phone number came from North Dakota!  701-248-7562
