A person called claiming to be from the NY State Police Chief's Association raising money for endangered children.  He asked for a donation (over-the-phone).

A person called claiming to be from the NY State Policeman's Benevolent Association.  He asked for money. I very pleasantly told him I was on the do no call list.  Very rude person.  Hung up on me.   Seems like a scam.

My caller  ID read NEW YORK 631-840-1022. The caller said they were a non prophit organization  looking for donations to pass a law that would make the sentance for sexual preditors stronger and not so easy for them to be put back on the street. He wanted to know the amount I would like to donate and put on my credit card. I told him to send me information in the mail and he said they were a non prophit organization and only calling so they didnt have to pay for the postage.He said they were only taking donations with a credit card. I asked how he got my number and he said that they were calling everyone in N.Y. Then he switched the line to his representitive to make sure that they had my correct address, a woman asked for my name which is something they should have known if they were really validating my address. So I said take my number off the list.

very crafty scam "BEWARE" claiming to be working on behalf of NY state police dept,  looking for donations to get a new sexual preditor law passed,  don't beleive it for a minuite.  they have called from this number many times in the past for numerous different alegged

said they need a donation with my cc so the police can "pass a law" against sexual predators.

I'm no expert on politics and gov't but doesn't a congress and\or legislature pass laws that then get signed by mayor\governer? And don't our tax dollars pay for this?

This sounds like a scam.
