This is a credit collection company. They are calling about unpaid debts. Whether you have unpaid debts or not you cannot stop them from calling. The best you can do is what I did. Go online and find a software program called Phone Tray Free 1.35. Install it on your computer. Plug your phone line into your computer then to your telephone. Not all of Phone Tray's features will work with the new Vista and Windows 7 OS, but you can get enough of it working to PERMANENTLY limit the number of times the phone rings from people calling you that you do not want to to just one ring. It keeps track of every phone number calling you and gives you the opportunity to allow the call to go through or stop it on the first ring. This includes 800 numbers as well as Caller ID blocked calls, Out of Area calls,  Private Numbers, Cell phones as well as all other types of calls. You can even limit calls from entire area codes. Now all I have to do is wait until the phone rings a second time to let me know its a call from someone I want to take. I have regained control over who I want to talk to and who I don't want to. I have been using it for over 5 years now and it's free.

THE BEST WAY TO DEAL WITH THESE OBNOXIOUS CALLS....since you can't seem to talk to anyone there who is willing to cooperate.  Store their number on your cell phone, and change the ringtone to "silent."  Then at least you don't have to be bothered by the ringing, and when they leave the stupid recorded message, you can just erase it every time the call.  It's still a bother, but not as obnoxious as if you had to hear it ring or picked it up every time.

NCO is a collection service, so you owe someone money who's turned your bill over to them for collection. They aren't governed by the do not call list at all. If you DON'T owe money, it may be an aquaintance or relative who listed you as a contact number. If you don't owe money, answer it, give them your number and they'll tell you who they're calling about. They won't stop calling until you do so.

Got this call on my cell and when I called it back they answered then immediately hung up.  Called from my landline and they answered NCO Financial and asked for my phone number and I refused to give it then the woman became terribly rude and unprofessional when I asked what her business was and she would only repeat the company name.  I hung up because this is most definately not a legitimate business.

I just don't understand.Whats the point in collecting debt and hiding information. This is happening in most cases. They call four times and a day and when we call back its "hang up". This is a violation of the FDCPA, isn't it?

They can get your # even if you change numbers huh? I got a go phone and it's registered under a made up name. I get calls every now and then from NCO but it's not about any debt i owe. I think the person who before me that had this number owed money. I do not call back, i don't talk to them. My voice mail has never been turned on. So they can call me a 100 times a day, i don't care. If they are serious about collecting money they will sent you a letter. They just hope you pay whether you owe money or not. You would be surprised how many people do pay who don't owe anything.

Some of my old debts are over 10 years old. The statue of limitations is long gone. They can ask but they can't take you to court.

Debt Collector
I had a medical bill that went to a collection agency because the doctors office sent the bills to my street address (instead of my P.O. Box, so I didn't get them), but once it went to the collection agency I paid it off.  I got a confirmation from both the collection agency and the doctors office that I was straight.

About 3 months later this NCO financial sends me a letter and  starts calling trying to collect the same debt.  They say I owe $150 and they are collecting.  I tried explaining how I had already paid this off, but this guy wasn't trying to hear it.  He was EXTREMELY rude, said he deals with dirtbags like me all the time who don't want to pay my bills, and no matter what I would say he would cut me off and say "So how are we going to take care of this Mr. ______?".  Finally I hung up, I had no choice, he wasn't going to accept any explanation from me that wasn't a credit card or checking number.

I talked to the collector and doctors office again, and they have never heard of this NCO financial, nor have any business with them.  I'm straight with them.  So this is a scam.  They might have some legitimate accounts and business, but they are trying to collect debts that don't even belong to them, and are already paid off.

This number calls me nearly everyday.  If I don't answer they will go to voicemail and it's always a recording that's being monitored blah blah.  The company calls themselves NCO Financial and claims that they're a debt collection agency and that I owe them money and to call back using reference # ---.

I never call back b/c I know I have no outstanding debts and that this is bogus.  It's really annoying b/c you can't reach anyone to get them to stop calling.
