I believe this is the same company my friend was scammed by...what was the assignment to receive the $1000?
LLS 2013-03-20 01:14:54 Unknown
Thanks to everyone who wrote about this on-line job company. I too received an e-mail from a Philip Burns as well as an attachment that was a "confirmation of employment." I was very busy and did not follow-up right away to do my first assignment, for which they promised to send me $1,000. I also did not load the "Time Tracker" tool they asked me to install. Sure glad I did not do this, since it would have likely implanted a virus or obtained control of my personal computer. I too checked the "Skutz.com" site and the server seems to be located in the Netherlands, at least when I check earlier today.
Again, I appreciate knowing that other people were contacted and we each determined that this offer of an on-line job just didn't seem to be an honest offer. Good detective work you guys.

Did you upload your photo? How do they get away with this? They asked me to open bank act with $9.300, and then I told them to send cash. This is money laundering. Just under the $10,000 reporting requirement.
Their server is by Oracle.

It's a scam. Just call the number & you'll see.

My friend suggested this site so like an idiot I filled out app, then saw all the scam warnings, SO NOT HAPPY

To Jim D and the rest of you. Found out today through investigating that it is indeed a scam. Had me fooled for a moment. On the other hand, I know everything about the Nigerian scam. Took me for $2K. Followed up with police reports and even contacted the FBI. I currently hold approx. $13,000. They are all fake money orders and CASHIERS checks and even personal business checks from the Florida institute of Technologies. I want to nail those Nutty people. (keeping it pc friendly) I have other words I'd rather use. I'm going to get them. I have legitimate addresses and business's. I understand their based out of Canada.

Yes I agree I just got mine and hit the report spam. What else can I do?

This is a 100% total scam; I got the email too, on an address that I have that's only linked through AOL Instant Messenger (it literally exists nowhere outside of AIM) so I'm guessing either AOL was hacked or someone is selling AOL's email address list. Some things of possible note.....
"Solo, Inc" seems to have existed under multiple identities for at least the past four years. Some quick Googling will reveal this info.
Their address (260 Madison Avenue, NYC) is an office building. I work just a few blocks from it, and I walked over and checked it out on my lunch break today. There is no "Solo, Inc" in that building, or at least no signage indicating the presence of a company under that name that I could see. There IS a "Forum Personnel" there but I was unable to determine whether or not they were the same thing.
Their URL of "skutz.com" is particularly accurate. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=skutz
There is CLEARLY some identity shenanigans happening with the email. You would think that a legitimate company would send and receive email through their own domain; this is clearly not the case here. The reply-to address is kenderickjackson@yahoo.com who appears to be something of a foot fetishist:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DesireReigns/message/1214
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DesireReigns/message/1219
But the email itself was sent from stackdust@yahoo.com ? again, not using their own domain. I located a page which lists the email address and password for this account. I tried logging into that account and, lo and behold, I was able to get in. As of this writing there are nearly 25,000 messages in the person's mailbox. I've changed the password on the account and have contacted the bona fide owner of the account to restore ownership.

I just received this email, as well. Looks like a scam to me. I did a reverse lookup on the phone number and it's a cellphone located in Queens, not a landline which all major companies use and not on Madison Avenue, either. I suggest everyone report this phishing scam. It's probably run by some Nigerians which do the bulk of the email scams. We need to move on this guy fast before he scams too many unsuspecting people. I am.

For a moment I believed in fairy tales and I downloaded the agreement. It describes personal shopping for clients and making arrangements for VIP guests. The contract is incredibly vague. $2000 a month with a $1000 allowance to run errands? If they have their own website, why are they marketing thorugh yahoo witht heir emails and then claiming to come from Careerbuilder. Its a scam.
rc 2012-09-13 02:24:00 Unknown
Got the same email , title had careerbuilder job number in it which I figured was not related and it was not. Sounds exactly like this scam here described in the blog in the link.
I am not familiar with this site I am posting on so I don't know if posting links is allowed (i am not making money from it found it in my search. The scam is nasty and similar and there is detail here about the scam.

I just got an email from the Solo.inc company but nothing makes sense. I went to google this strange company and found these comments. It is a scam and I guess if you respond they will have you send money for something. I do not need a job nor did I ever apply for one..so how is this going around? Thank you for posting these other comments.

I got an email about the same thing with an attachment of a job discription and salary information. It looks like a scam to me too. My email was from Natie Turner, but the attachment was signed by Philip Burns and from solo inc. and the link was to scultz.com (I did not click on it).

Guess you have to go with your gut feelings. I know I will. You know the saying : "If it walks like a duck and ........"

I did not get a phone call either but I too got the email from Mr. Burns.
There is no way he received my email because I did not send one.
I have not applied for any work at home jobs, but I would like to have one but those I see online all seem soooo shakey. As a rule I don't even open most of the mail if I don't know who it's from.

There was an attached word document about the salary and job and at the end saying its solo Inc. go on skutz.com for more information and that it is a home based job. I don't know if it is a scam but looks very sketchy.
James 2012-09-11 10:30:29 Unknown
Claims to be a company called SOLO however the web site they want you to go to is (skutz.com) to fill out an application and include your photo... Looks like a scam to me if you look at their web site claiming to be a PERSONAL VIRTUAL ASSISTANT web site.
