Got a call very similar to JJ's; they called our landline around 7pm tonight asking if someone would be available to receive/sign legal documents. I hung up as soon as they said that because I figured it had to be a scam; what legal office is going to be calling me at 7pm? They called back a minute later, my mom answered this time and decided to hear more of what this was about. They couldn't name who exactly was relevant, nor the court they were serving, and all the names they mentioned were completely foreign to us. When we called them on their scam they tried to guilt us by saying it would be put on record that the information was falsified and thus these phantom friends of ours will be in trouble.

A story on another site suggests that in the past they've used an MO of saying you owe a credit company money and they're there to settle for less and then they get your financial info, but I'm not exactly sure how this scam is supposed to work.

I  recieved a call from this number from a man who said he was a prosses server and wanted to know if I would be home for the next 2 days so the sheriff's could serve me with papers for a lawsuit against me. He then gave me a number 888-667-0080 and a case number. Michael from jp associates said I owed 3182.80 to Capital one for a credit card I didn't pay and would settle out of court for 482.08. I fell for the scam and gave them my bank debit card number and told them I could pay the next day. When I hung up with him I called capital one and they said I owe them nothing and it was a scam. Luckely I called my bank and they cancelled my bank card befor any money was taken out.un

asked if someone would be home to receive documents on behalf of the sheriff's office for a Richard Morgan. When i said that there is no Richard Morgan at this number the person said, "Are you sure?", "this is the number he confirmed to the court" and "he will be reprimanded for this falsification".

Cross Country Processing, 646-355-3578 needs to get busted big time, they are phony and no good, they are pranking all people stating all types of things, do not believe them, they are crooks.

Received a phone call a few days ago from 646-355-3578, stating that the Sheriff's office wanted to serve my nephew with a complaint, funny thing is that both my nephew and I live over 3000 miles from each other, if you want to come to my home come on over but you are going to have to travel very far just to hand me the paperwork. Then I asked how did you all get my number and why am I being called, their reply my nephew provided the number, did not hit me at the moment, this should have raised a red flag at that moment but anyway they decided to take me off of their list, I hope it is true, when you call this number an answering machine comes on that states they are Cross Country Processing and that all representatives are speaking with clients but messages are unable to be left, PRANK, that is what it is.

Saw on caller ID that they had called but they didn't leave a message.
