THIS IS A SCAM. This is the advance-fee-for-something scam where something is a grant, loan, lottery winnings, gift card, doggie, cruise, vacation, free gas, etc., and the advance-fee is for tax, shipping, registration, etc. They may send you a fake check, or when you call back, may want your card info or tell you to wire cash via Western Union, Moneygram, etc. Wired-cash is irretrievable - once it's picked up at the other end, it's untraceable and gone. Complain to US Postal Service Inspectors https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/forms/MailFraudComplaint.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate.

I have the same problem with these unwanted texts. There is a scum sucker out there sending them. Calls coming in from 646-410-6429 or 262-744-2447 to call an 877 number for a free gift card.
Obviously they are able to change the actual number calling. I have filed a formal complaint with my (Sprint) cell provider. I just wish we had a real Name or Number for the low life doing this...

I've had two texts in the past week - walmart gift certif and $100 cash card. Very annoying. I have my Verizon phone blocked from receiving internet-based texts, but these must not be (internet based), because I just got another one. However, I noticed that each text has a different "incoming" phone numbers, so seems it would be impossible to get these all blocked (and prevent additional calls from coming in). I am at wits end - about ready to give up my cell phone!
