Same thing here in Torrance California.  Trying to rent a house that is for sale by Remax.  I called Remax and they were having an open house that same day.  They are going to tell the owner that someone is scamming his property. I asked if the owners name was Eric Painter and of course it wasn't.  What a DO***E BAG

This individual, which apparently has many aliases, somehow managed to bypass Zillow.com security checks and claimed a property listed in Chino, CA as his own. To claim a property on Zillow one must know the owner's info, such as last name and dates of purchase and a few other details that may or may not be easily available to the public, but an industry professional/ crook may have a much easier time figuring these details out, so I wonder if this is a network of crooked realtors and/ or scammers working together.

In searching my area for rentals, I came across this one "FOR SALE" and subscribed to change notifications using Zillow.com. A few days later I got notified that the property status was changed to "For RENT" at a remarkably low price. Perhaps in other parts of the country $900 per month is reasonable, but here in southern California $900 rent for a full sized home, considering it was recently renovated, is a "too-good-to-be-true" deal! Anyhow just because I like finding the best savings possible I decided to email directly from Zillow, but with the mentality that this might be a scam. No response for several days, but in the meantime checked out the property and noticed it had a "FOR SALE" sign posted by a realtor called Tony Lopez. I don't know if this realtor is in or out, but I did speak to him and could only say he was unsure why it was listed for RENT on the website.

Several days passed and quickly scanned through my SPAM emails and noticed a response for my initial inquiry of the property. The fact that it was in the SPAM folder was another hint for me to be suspicious. Personal emails don't normally go in there unless it's been previously flagged as such. The context of the email was very much the same as what others here have already noted and posted, with many mentions of his "lovely" wife and "God" which I found unnecessary. The application info he (Eric Garcia and his wife Dianne) were asking for was personal, but not too damaging, but I wondered if at some point he might ask for SSN and if necessary how would I know that I wasn't falling into a trap... Well that's where I searched for the number he listed in the email and ended up here, relieved that I don't have to keep investigating and that my suspicions were correct and others out here are kind enough to report the b*****d(s). At this point, I have not provided any of my info or responded and will not. Be vigilant and always take note of all the signs and be aware that this network is not only operating out of NY, IN, FL, but seem to be elsewhere including in CA.

I just got the SAME MESSAGES !!! IDENTICAL and yes using the name Eric Clark!  I was dumb enough to give him info and PICTURE!!!!! but then realized things weren't adding up.... and someone found this site for me.... What do you do when they know your info, what you look like, and where you work?!  Thank goodness we didn't send the money!

SCAM!! SCAM!! SCAM!! Seen an ad for a house here in the town that I live in in NJ. 3 bedroom, 1 bath $700.00 a month, posted by an Eric Clark from Viginia who was a robotics engineer. Except, I know the real owner of the house that Eric said he owned, and I called the real owner and told them about it. Hopefully the real owner can go to the police and catch this guy!

I answered a Craigslist ad for a 3 br house in Lumberton NJ.  His name was Eric Clark.  I did not send any info.  It just happens that my husband did a job for the realtor that is selling this house and he called her to verify.  This was just a stroke of luck for us.   He also said he transferred to Richmond, Va.    Be careful out there...

Also Running scam in the Monterey Bay Area I responded to a Rental Ad on Craigslist I should have known it was a scam beacuse the Rent was to good to be true when the scammer responded his email was word for word to what you all have received But in my email he is going by Eric Clark.

MOTHER F****R did the same thing to me!!! I went to the house in Dana Point, CA and the guard wouldn't let me in the gate because no one named Eric Clark owns a house there. Can i report this guy to the police? He didn't get anything from me but after reading all of this stuff I am so freaking angry!!!!!!!!

No promises though. Damn wish I had trusted my instincts and not kept communicating with this jerk.

Yes, I asked him this same thing...we've been communicating for about three days now. I just happened to google the name he gave me, Eric Clark-godlove454@yahoo (add it to the list all), and since finding this site decided to go ahead and write him a lovely email. I was definitely NOT giving him money until I saw the location. Yet, I did ask him multiple times how come the post was flagged and he never responded, I just thought he had worries with his "wife" being sick and all. Its funny though because I told him I could not send him a pic of myself, nor my telephone (though he did get that later, the #) because I dont just up and trust things on cl. Come on now. But nothing serious has happened, as yet and hopefully won't.

I explained to him in a very livid email, that if he contacts me any further, via email, #, mail I will contact the authorities and send them this site and maybe they can trace him down. I know a couple hackers, they may be able to find out what IP address is and where he's really located.

I think I'm more just shocked that ppl like this really still do exist in our world, and its f**ed up he tried to use his faith to lure ppl in. I kept saying to myself, I dunno if he'd really want me in his house anyone, cause uh...I'm not this godly person he claims to keep being and I could careless about all that s***, and asked him to stop saying it to me.

Well, I did my research late, the same email you have posted was sent to me for a house in North Carolina. I got the email first then I went to see the house, a beautiful house, we fell in love with it. we sent him the $600 security deposit then he asked for the month rent to send keys, i sent him $700 rent, then he asked for another month's rent, I asked for the rental agreement first which he sent & it stated that to rent the house was $600 security plus two months rent. I sent him a total of $2000. he came and asked for last month rent, I said no either you sent me the keys or my money back & after that we haven't heard from him. His phone is off. I email him telling him I have the money to see if he would contact me. I don't know how I;m going to get my money back. With God bless you at the end of every conversation he steals money from people. Lucky you guys who did research first. This is a HUGE SCAM. He told me his name is David Garica

I reasoned with her and accepted her advice so we contacted the agent back and requested for our keys and documents and put it for rent since we will back to the house in the next 4 to 5 years.We would have given the same agent this job also but the truth of the matter is that the agent was asking too much of an agent fee and also made the rent high.We were not getting the responses we needed so i decided to terminated our contract with them and put it up for rent ourselves.If you notice, you will discover that the price we are offering is far below standard price and this is enough for you to know that we are not after the rental fee but the absolute care for the property.The house is available for as long as you want.The rent is $800 and $800 for Security Deposit For this 3BR/2.5BAth/2,029 sqft....Utilities such as Air Conditioner Dishwasher  Walk-in Closet Refrigerator  Vaulted Ceilings Washer/Dryer Cable etc are all included in the rent.

My boyfriend and I are looking for our first apartment. We responded to an add from Eric Garica for $600 for a small house! Got the same response about sending the information that everyone else seems to have. We sent him our info and became curious and googled his phone number (we probably should have done that before hand but we were too excited) we found out it was a scam and emailed him back saying we found some where else and we were no longer interested. Hopefully he leaves is alone! But i can't help but worry that he has my address and phone number. At least i got something from this jerk, a good lesson in googling!
