Because the person wants money ahead of time, before a real physical address is given. (in my case, an address was given, but no apartment #. I requested 4 times to view the inside of property, to no avail.

Yep. Tried it with me this week, however, I have a friend who lives in the area that I was trying to rent in, who gave me the real number to the rental property!

Craigslist rental home scam. Same email different locations different names same call number. Claims to be a part of some united nations programme and is moving to Nigeria. Even claims to be a christian! Ha!
