I got a call from this number too.  Told me to wait but then hung up on me.

This is a legitimate company.  I called them back and talked to a guy who led me through a verification process (phone number address etc...)  They did not ask for any crazy stuff like credit card number, account numbers or personal ID stuff.

They didn’t tell me where the job was located, but said it was in my area.  The guy told me after I finished the verification that I would soon receive a phone call for an interview.  It took the company almost a week to get back to me.  Sounds good to me…

Got a call form them as well...same scenario as above, except that I haven't applied for any jobs on the date they said (did update resume on Yahoo and Careerbuilder). I asked who was asking for verification of my information and they said "Windy City Careers." Never heard of them. We'll see. Call took all of 1 minute. Oh, she did want to know if I had online access at home...I'm thinking it's for some work from home scam kind of thing.

I receieved a call from this number a week ago. I've been applying for several jobs listed on Craigslist. One of the websites is Starlight Careers...had anyone heard of them? I'm afraid they're the same as the rest..full of crap! With today's economy being what it is..it's sad that so many of us are getting screwed! Like a fool, I gave too much info...but not my SS#, fortunately. But I did give my friends and previous boss's email address as they requested for references...dumb me!

From a company called Employment Select. A job I applied for. Spoke to their Verification Specialist. Hours of operation M-T 9a-8p, Fri 9a-4p EST.

My believe is this company has a shortage of employees who know how to answer a phone, much less carry on a conversation. I think they might be trying to hire qualified people to do this very job.... click

Sounds like the same scenarios to me. Got the call, didn't answer it as it had no name. My two cents, if a legitimate employer or staffing agency is looking for you specifically, they'll leave a message. Seeing as how Craigslist name was mentioned, it's most likely a scam

Just got a call from them.  I didn't answer it & no one left a message.  I have also applied for jobs online.

I recieved a call as well.  I held for about 5min.  They told me their company name was for Employment Select.  I applied for a job online line as well.  Here is the number they gave me to call back 305-749-0844.  No one answered, it said "you have reaseached a none working number".  I don't know what to think, but it is sad if it is a scam, because they are preying on people hopes for work.  Especially in economic times like these it can be hard to judge people; you want to believe then you don't.

I received a call from them a couple of days ago and I have applied for jobs on monster and careet builder. I just was on the phone 20 minutes waiting for a live person and that never happened.  I dont think its a scam however there is no reason to wait on hold for 20 minutes either

I just got an automated call from this number. They wanted me to wait on the line for a verification specialist. They said it had to do with a job that I had recently applied for (within the last week). It just all seemed too weird. I hung up. I called the number back and it said "this number has been disconnected".....Hmmm

This number just called my cell phone which I had missed.  Left no voicemail.  I have not applied for a job with Craig's List but resume is online in numerous places.

I applied for a job online (from Craig's List); this number called me; identified themselves as "Employment Select", wanted me to wait for a verification specialist; he came on the line; it was very noisy in the background, he said I applied online for a job on Dec. 21  and he named the job I had applied for (both the date and the job title were true)he asked for my # (which they had called) and it disconnected.  I tried calling the number back but "all circuits are busy" (numerous times) and it wasn't my "circuit" because I could call other numbers.  They have not called me back.

My cell is currently broke so all calls go straight to voicemail.  there was an automated messaged about holding on the line for verification then it hung up.  i dont even remember applying for a job in the last week and since they didnt leave a company name im not going to bother.

Employment verification...   Just asked about my basic public information. Name, address, phone number, and salary range. I am pretty sure my range was out of the company in question as the questions were over then.

Filled out an application at http://workcareer-systems.com/ for a clerk court position.  Got a phone call didnt answer, they didnt leave a message. Went on website that jamie above mentioned, http://employmentselectcareers.com/ and saw the same exact position.  Def a scam just trying to get ur phone number to harass you.  Was contacted by the 646-520-0695 number though, but believe its the same company.

After taking call on cell phone and waiting about 2 minutes a person says I need to be in front of a Computer to be able to talk to me. Could no or would not give me any info other than I had filled out an online application on Jan3,2009. Don't remember since I have filled out so many, but gave me # 305-749-0844 to call back.Big surprise # not good, called # on caller ID and not answering on Saturdays. Look the # up and the Company name on www.ripoffreports.com and see what else is being said. Also keep a close eye on your cell phone bill and account as this is the only # they call on and want to know your carrier.Sad Day with the economy as it is and this is happening, Where is the help for the little guy!!!???

I find this one (the big bad repo man) hard to believe. My wife received a call on her cell, and we are not in the position of having anything repossessed (Though there is an '06 SLK280 I wouldn't mind getting rid of).

My wife's cell is not on any official paper work, therefore not subject to any collection calls even if warranted.

However, she is looking to reenter the work-a-day-world and has included that number on her Careerbuilder contact information.

BTW, I am a PI and the triangulation of your cell phone is a bit too TV, and very expensive. Unless you are a couple of payments behind on your 1931 Bugatti Royale Kellner Coupe, or close personal friends with Semion Mogilevich, I think you are safe from the boogie men that are that well financed.

I just got a call on my cell phone from this number and could not answer it as I was in the middle of something at the time.  They did not leave a message.  

I am glad I read this information. I too have been looking for a job.  Due to not having a job my car was repo from my front yard because I couldn't pay for it or the gas to drive it.  If indeed this is a repo company I am not sure why they would be trying to track me down at this point.

Called me and nobody spoke for about 30 seconds then a recording said "We are calling in regard to a job application you recently filled out. Stay on the line and one of our representatives will be with you shortly. Please be near a computer with Internet access and we will be with you shortly to verify your application." Then in about 10 seconds the call was terminated.

I received a call with no message- I looked up the number and I also just applied for jobs on line.
