I also got the same text message about having a negative balance for an account I know nothing about. When I called the number it ask for my sixteen digit, bank card number, of course I did not respond! I'm so glad I looked this number up and saw these postings. What a scam!!
Jayvee 2012-12-04 02:48:13 Unknown
The automated [computer] will ask you for your 16 digit card number, your expiration date, your 3 digit code on back of card, AND YOUR ATM PIN NUMBER! Sure, I am stupid, so I entered 16 zeroes, 10/2011, 987, and 9080. The poor quality computer voice said that no live help was available, then concluded that my card was activated. I am very impressed. Now where do we report these scammers to? More Google searching.. Unless you lead a very boring life, please do not respond to these thieves, and if you do, please do not give credible info.

I received a text from 646-524-1395 stating that a check order for my checking account was placed on 12-1-12 please call immediately. I called the number from a different phone and never got an answer it was always busy. I called my bank and put an alert on my account. I have not ordered any checks. I would like to know if there is a way to turn these people in! This is crazy that this many people have been notified.

I got a text from them this morning stating my NCUA account had fallen to a negative balance. I've never had a credit union account! Definitely a scam I will not respond. My 86 yo mother was contacted by someone saying that my son was in jail and they needed her to send $. There are so many scammers out there. Beware!

Also got reports of people getting this same message"alerts@onlinem .gov with a msg. stating: Alert Banking: Yoir N.C.U.A. Balance fell to $-14.51 on 12/02/12 at 12:46 PM ET. Please contact us immediately 1. 646. 524 .1395"
Funny, the numbers are identical to what Louise posted above.
I work at a credit union and many members are calling in with IDENTICAL numbers. Obviously a scam! You do know that is thousand times easier for scammers to rob people electronically than to roll up to an institution wearing a mask and carrying a gun. This is the new wave of hold ups. Expect more text, phone and e-mail scams like this to continue as people hide behind their computer screens. Its a safer, easier and more effective way for thieves to get money from the uneducated, rather than risk going to jail in a physical hold up (heck most banks have funny money - insured designated cash to distribute in a hold up, where an ink pack explodes and ruins the cash after they leave the premises).
Why risk your face on camera when these scumbags can hide behind their fancy computer screens!

I got the text as well about checks being ordered on Dec. 1st. My first thought was that it was a scam and I'll bet they want an account number from me...I tried to call immediately after receiving the text and the line was busy. Figured I'd look it up online. Can you say SCAM?
julie 2012-12-03 01:39:15 Unknown
Of course they want your routing numbers! What better way to access your money?
Gina 2012-12-03 01:36:11 Unknown
Texted "ChecksOrdered@alerts.com". Call the number from a land line. Right away it asks for your routing numbers. Bad News! Definitely a Scam!

It's a phishing expedition. Some one will undoubtedly call and give out personal information and get scammed. DON'T CALL.
