There is little reason for a commercial fundraiser to spoof. Their tactics are persuasive, sometimes fraudulent, but not hostile enough to require fakey phone numbers. VOIP numbers are cheap to obtain besides. Those call centers all use *predictive* dialers. Possibly they could dial a whole town sequentially, but the greater likelihood is that your number has landed in a hit list which paints you as a potential donor.

Eight calls a day for weeks at a time from a single commercial fundraiser is not what I would consider "inconvenience". That's what my parents suffered a few years ago, and it's damned obnoxious when they had already donated comfortable amounts. The calls came on behalf of several charity clients, regardless of donation history. Give to one or two, and watch your phone number populate across other lead lists. The hired callers gulp down 50 to 90 percent of collected funds and the "charity" groups are often secretly profiteers themselves. This does not describe harmless annoyance; it's a crime with no law to forbid it.

To stop the madness, I didn't fool around with blockers and chasing after ever-shifting numbers. The fundraiser got orders via Certified Mail to knock off for good. So far it hasn't dared call again. In comments from November 2012 and June 2013 linked below, I've discussed my approach.

ASPCA only hired the commercial fundraiser. Your greater ire should go to the latter. The fundraiser's name has been cited in this thread as well. Did you miss that in your search engine strafing run?

You've made the tiresome error of thinking a no-call list will cover all call categories. Here is the FTC FAQ page which the DNC site repeatedly invited you to read before you registered your numbers.

ASPCA is making me crazy.  They call every day and sometimes two calls each day. I always let the call go to the recorder and never answer.  No message left, just a hang up.  I checked this number on the Internet and found the number StategicFundraising for non profit s.

ok, as far as the DNC list goes, there are many organizational groupings that are exempt (such as non-profits, political, etc.)

the real problem here is that these scum SPOOF other numbers.  in other words, they any ol' number as their ID and have robo-dialers dial number after number.  no one "got" your cellphone number, it was just the next number in the sequence that the robo-dialer was dialing.

i understand how it can be annoying but there are apps and the like to help block this sorta stuff.  in the grand scheme of life it's a mere inconvenience.  i'm quite sure you have actual "big things" in your life worth worrying about much more than this minor annoyance.  i know i do.

This is the ASPCA.  I support them, but now they are calling again.  There's an app you can install on your android. It's called Calls Blacklist.  It works great and very user friendly.  The numbers I have added no longer are able to call.

They call me anywhere between 3-4xs a day with in hours of the last call.  I had to DL an app to block the call.. So will see if it works!? Hope it does just freaking annoying!!

It's the ASPCA and they call me almost every day at least twice.

Call early in morning, no one is there when I answer.

I got calls several times from this number - they never spoke or wouldn't leave a message.

I finally did get someone who tried to launch into their speech but (I was previously a phone solicitor and this does work) either tell them 'you just got laid off and your wife/husband just ran off with you sister/brother, etc.' .... or this is one I enjoy doing when I get a solicitor, I tell them (hang on to your hats) 'I can't donate because I just lost my wife/husband and my job all in the same week can you believe hat? and then, go figure, I just got this notice that they were foreclosing on my house that I was born in XX number of years ago, you know I remember things were so different back then, when you could walk down the street and never lock your door, and the school house was just down the road, heck, there was a little ice cream store on the corner down there that well I shouldn't bother you but haven't you noticed that things have changed so much, take these new smart phones, why did they have to lose the buttons? it makes not sense that people don't have home phones anymore but use cellphones, on and on' .... get the picture?  Those were calls we use to delete so fast because you couldn't get a word in edgewise.  But my most favorite is always answering the phone, 'Sallies Hair and Beauty' can I make an appointment for you today?  Oh, I don't think we have a (your name) here, (then holler), 'hey, is anyone hear named (your name)? do it really loud and keep the phone receiver close,  then say to the solicitor that there's no one hear by that name but can I make an appointment for a hair cut?  Have fun making up stories!

We get multiple calls from this number by never answer or call back if I don't recognize number.

Apparently the ASPCA has several different #'s they call from.  The calls I'm getting from them show different #'s, i.e., anonymous, ASPCA, this #646-582-8971, 800 #'s, etc.  I've donated to them in the past when I can, but now that they've started harassing me with these calls, I'm stopping!

I receive at least three phone calls a day frrom this number.  I have answered and requested they not call numerous times.  The calls persist.  Enough is Enough.

646-582-8971 calling me everyday and never leaving message.  Finally I call it back and reach a voicemail message that says something to the effect that they're Strategic something and that if you've been receiving a call from this number, it's probably in regards to fundraising for some political cause of which I'm signed up for and that if I want to be removed from their call list, to press 7.  However, the whole thing seems suspicious to me and I'm not signed up for any fundraising/political causes, etc.

I've gotten at least 20 calls from this number over the past month. The calls come any day of the week, once at 8:20 am on a Saturday, and always shows up on the caller ID as ASPCA. We ignore the calls, my message is never left. I finally answered today and a middle aged sounding lady asked for someone named Susan, then apologized and hung up when I told her she had the wrong number.  No Susan here...

I'm glad I found this info. I didn't want to call back bcuz I was afraid that would only encourage them,they also would not leave voicemail, I know it's as simple as not answering,but what if ur waiting for an important call? I'm waiting for a few ,but still decided not to answer bcuz it was a different area code.

I'm just very surprised they don't leave message,seems kinda ...sneaky?? Hard to believe from a reputable foundation.

Also I never provided them with my phone number,I would of never known it was them.

If we don't answer the phone, stop calling.
Why don't the ASPCA callers leave us their home phone numbers so we can bug them all hours of the day, and night.
The ASPCA are f@!#ing pests!
And for that, we will never donate to the ASPCA again, and will tell everyone we know to do the same thing!

Lighten up people it's just a phone call I get them too.

  If your not expecting a  call or don't recognize the number simply don't answer.
But instead people want to answer than complain about it.

  Even if you didn't answer are phones calls really that bad?

Yea, the scumbags called again and, as usual, left no message. Do not call registration not worth the cost to fund it. Caller ID says that it is ASPCA. Maybe a self inflicted wound as my wife is dumb enough to contribute to them. Hopefully, not stupid enough to give them a phone number. Certainly not gonna let that happen again. Lesson learned, support nothing that needs any personal information!

It comes up ASPCA on the caller id.  They already called me 18 times on my work phone in the past two weeks and never left a message.   It's downright annoying.  I am on the do not call list.

I have been called four days in a row, no message. I am on a do not call list, not sure how they got my cell number....
