This person mentioned in other complaints, Ray Cooper, is alleging that I must pay money today or that I will be sent to court tomorrow. This is for a very vague "overdue" payday loan from 2 years ago. He called from 646-871-3735, and requested that a fax be sent to another zip code, 212-298-9033. It was extremely vague, strange, and handled very unprofessionally especially for the alleged nature of the situation.

One thing for sure that I know is it has something to do with Pay Day Loans. Have you ever taken out a Pay Day loan online? I have, and someway or somehow these bastards got a hold of our information. If you did not take out a loan, then someone may have used you as a reference that includes your phone number. Whether you paid back or not, they are using stolen or bought information, perhaps by a third party affiliated with this fraudulent crime, to go after us and take money. Rather than doing things legally to collect money (if owed) than these sleezy clowns would rather just do things their own way because or perhaps they are operating illegally in the first place and can not go to a real courthouse to take further action. That's just my observation. (Maybe the original source that lended the money does not have a liscense to do business?)
I got another call on Monday morning. The mans fake name was Shawn Williams. Before he could hardly say anything, I told him that if he calls my number again, I'm going to call the police and get the FBI involved. He did not call me again. These people play on ignorance and emotions. That's how they feel they can get money from you. So do not give them anything. IF THEY CAN'T PROOVE IT, THEN YOU DON'T OWE IT!!! PERIOD.

I just got the same calls at work and at home....how do they have the nerve to say God Bless you and good luck, when they don't believe in GOD!. But.....they are also using a differenet phone number now...646-871-3764....

I just received a call for some guy claiming that works for "Back to Back" law office and that on Monday morning they are going to file a claim against me. He as foreign accent. When asked what the file number was he did not know. He wanted my lawyers name. He knew my particulars but when I asked for his license number he did not know what that was. I looked up the company that he said and not such company. I have receive calls like this before saying that there was going to action filed against me that can be stopped today. (Always Friday Hmmm.) Or on Monday they would file it, process it and see me all on the same day. I have no idea what this is about but someone has my information. Don't give this person any information and report it when you get the call.

Very haunting. I had the same exact details that happened to me as Mary (from above). THIS IS A DEFINITE SCAM!!!!!!!!SAME PHONE NUMBER, SAME AMOUNT OWED, SAME DATE, SAME PAYDAY LOAN COMPANY, SAME THREATENED CHARGES!!!!! What is crazy is that I had my male friend call the 646-871-3735 number back. My friend kept saying "Hello" "Hello" "Hello" and someone finally answered, with a lot of static in the background. My friend asked, "Who are you guys?" Someone answered, "We are a law office." My friend said, "Your lying, you're not no ******* law office!" Then, he said that the guy was actually laughing under his breath, trying to hide it. When my friend heard that, he said, "I'm going to find you guys." Then all them starting laughing under their breath. It sounded like the person who answered put the speaker phone on and that there were three or more of them in a hotel room or something, playing games.

A guy named Ray called and said if I did not cooperate that he would file charges against me in the local courts. He called from 320 054 4778 on my home and cell phone, but wanted me to use 646-871-3735 to call him back. He also said he was from a law firm in NY. I had the same thing happen a month or so ago and filed a complain with the State Atty General, but they said it belongs to the Banking fraud unit. They had most of my identity including last 4 of SSN.

I had a message from a foreign man claiming to be James Brown to call, or have my attorney call, this number immediately. Warned me to not disregard this message and to call NOW. If I or my attorney did not call back, all he could do was wish me good luck as this situation unfolded on me. When I returned the call, it was answered Beck and Beck law office. I ask him his name, also a foreign voice, and he said he was Kevin Matthews. I ask to speak to James Brown and he was unavailable but Kevin could help me. I ask him if he was an attorney and he said no, he was a affidavit processor and needed the name of my attorney because they are filing a lawsuit on me in the morning. Claims I had a NSF check from Sept. 2007 from Advance American Cash Advance and they were filing charges of check fraud and theft and that I would be serving time and have a judgment of $5485. I told him I had no idea what he was talking about and expressed my concern that he wasn't legitimate. Assured me that it was and that I was in serious trouble for violations and theft. He said my actual debt was $1495 (from a $350 loan + interest)and that he would talk to his superiors about an OCR and if they would approve a payment. Was suppose to call me back but hasn't yet. I told him I was checking this all out and needed some kind of proof before I would commit to anything. He said if things weren't dealt with today he would be filing the lawsuit in the morning. I gave him NO info. He already had my name, phone and email.

I got the same bogus call from "James Brown".  What a scam, and these people need to give it up.  A while back I got this exact same call, with the exact same wording from a "Fred Johnson".  I got the whole "the only thing I can do is wish you good luck" line.  They are obviously reading a script...do these morons really believe we are going to fall for their idiocy?  Do these people really believe we are that stupid?  Do not fall for this rediculous scam.

I received a call from someone named Mac Johnson and he sound as if he was calling from another country and he asked alot of personal questions and said that he was from Beck & Beck LLC law firm and the number that shows up on my phone is only a partial number of 320-054-778

This man also called my cell phone.  It sounded like he was calling from a car.  He had some kind of eastern accent and was hard to understand so I did not get his name, but he left a voice mail with the 646-871-3735 number as the call back number.  He said he was trying to reach my friend regarding a lawsuit she was supposedly getting filed against her and that I should advise her to contact him immediately.  I called my friend and told her about it and she informed me he had just tried to reach her at work.  This had happened once before and turned out to be a scam so we are more concerned about the fact that somehow this man got a hold of her work number and my cell phone number and new our names and that we had new each other.  I suspect he has somehow managed to illegally purchase or steal a pack of personal information that would include a person's references.  That is the only way he could know that my friend and I know eachother because we don't even live in the same city.  How would I go about reporting this to the FBI since that is your recommendation.

James Brown calls me or some other person with a foreign accent and gives an american name. They call my work and I tell them to stop calling and then the leave msg with my co-workers telling them to call Beck  & Beck Law reguarding a Law Suit. They are not allowed to give that information out to anyone. I tried to ask them what it is that I am being sued for, but they tell me to "PAY NOW" and all I can say, "Is if you DONT..God Bless!" The only thing to do is report the numbers, they will call from a ton of different phone numbers. You can never understand the people that are calling and im tired of this crap from them.

A James Brown calls me at least 5 times a day telling me to call him back at 646-871-3735.  I spoke to him and told him to stop calling me and threatening me.  I told him if he continues to call that I would file harassment charges.  This has not stopped him from calling.  Is there any way to stop him from calling?

A Ray Cooper phone #646-871-3735 is attempting to obtain personal information about others by claiming to work for me and my law firm, Beck & Beck, LLC in NYC,NY. He obtained our information from the internet, and is using that info to obtain personal info about other people by claiming to work for my firm. This man, nor his phone number, is not connected to my firm in any way. I was called by a NYC travel agency ON JAN 14, 2010 saying that he contacted them asking for info about their employee, asking if this man works for us. They were told he does not. I called this man, asked him who he worked for, and he told me "the NYC law firm of Beck & Beck, located at 110 Wall St, 12th Fl, NYC,NY. I have an office at that location, but on the 11th floor.  I have done so for about 10 years. DO NOT GIVE THIS PERSON ANY INFO.  HE IS NOT CONNECTED TO BECK & BECK IN NYC, NY IN ANY WAY.  I REPORTED THIS INCIDENT TO THE FBI, AND SO SHOULD YOU.

Got a call with them reading me an affidavit to a payday loan.
When questioned they had differing amounts and differing dates.
Then said officers would call to pick me up.
Then received a call from Sheriffs department asking where I would be so I could be picked up tomorrow morning at 11am.  Called local Sheriffs dept who do not have person of the given name listed at all.
Knew my social, my bank details etc.
Very very scary.  Will report to police if any more calls.

I received a phone call from an Indian speaking man. He told me that I would have charges against me for three things: fraud,closed bank account and owing an old debt. I remember taking out several PDLs in 2007 but I told him that I needed to have verification and documentation. He said that he emailed me with the details but I had an old email account at the time. I told him to re-send the details to my attorney's office by email but he refused. I told him that I would not pay anything unless I saw who I owed and the amount I owed. Additionally, I filed a Chapter 7 long after the loan was taken out, July 3, 2008 (if it was at all).I included a lot of Payday loans and don't remember any company or fake name of Advanced America Cash Advance. Some of the loans were actually paid off prior to the Chapter 7. law suit need to pay 5000.00 or will go to court.Havent talked to a american yet.
