I looked at my husbans phone around 10am, and it said he had a missed call. But the scary thing was the time they called was 9:11am on the dot. He called back but it was a machine wanting him to leave a message. It look like it's a cell phone number. But I strongly belive that it is a frud, when they don't tell you where they are calling from.

I'm getting these calls throughout the day and night.  When I call the number back, it goes straight to a recording (female) to please leave your name and number.  It never states who or what this is.  So...I hung up. This is very annoying, considering I have 2 small children who I stay home with.  I don't want any phone calls coming in that arent' valid.....this is my cell phone and is a tremendous pain when it comes to my kids.

I received a call, and they identified themselves as the Orlando Sentinel wanting to renew my past due subscription.  After finishing the call, I became suspicious.

Between 12/14 and today, 12/21, someone from this number has called my home seventeen times.  My elderly mother is staying with me while recuperating from surgery and when she answers the phone, they will not identify themselves.  I was home today when the call came and the man identified himself as representing the Orlando Sentinel.  I find that strange as the number is from Twin Cities, MN.  He said my newspaper subscription would be cancelled unless I gave him my credit card number. Yea Right.  I called the Orlando Sentinel but conveniently their billing department closes as 4:30.

So, I've begun receiving "the calls." Thanks for the heads up on the Orlando Sentinel. I paid for a three month subscription in July. I let it expire (deliberately), but they keep sending newspapers every morning. Recently, the Sentinel had the nerve to call me and tell me that I was delinquent in paying my subscription! Hahahaha!!! I politely explained that I only paid for a three month subscription and no longer wish to receive the paper. That was in November... I'm still receiving the paper. And from the looks of things... I'm receiving the calls too.

Has called me three times today and hung up immediately after I answer.  I'm in Orlando and also subscribe to the Orlando Sentinel, so assuming it's the same deal.

I have also been getting calls from this number.  They never leave a message and when I call back, it goes straight to a recording that plainly states to leave your name and phone number.  The recording DOES NOT identify the company or anything else.  These calls have been very annoying and happen from morning until late evening, disrputing my work at home, activites with my 2 girls and even dinners.  Finally this morning while talking to my mother, this number beeped in so I answered it. I waited on the dead silence line and a female came on and asked for me.  I didn't identify myself but asked who it was and she stated Tracy. She then began talking and said she was with The Orlando Sentinel newspaper (which we do subsribe to) and our account had been sent to them for payment??  WHAT??  The newspaper isn't a credit card.....we weren't up for "collections"!!!!  And we pay 3 months in advance for our subscrption....so why was our account fowarded to this company for payment???  Sounded fishy to me.....she was adamant about recieving payment over the phone since our subscription was "red flagged" for termination (pretty harsh standards there....I almost thought this was my insurance company).  I explained to her that I was not giving a credit card over the phone to anyone and why wasn't I notified by mail that our subscription was due or overdue or soon-to-be terminated????   She couldn't answer that....then proceeded to ask me for payment by check.  No thanks.  No one that I'm unsure of will have access to my credit card number OR most importandly my checking account.  She left a call back number, which is different than the original number she called from, and again it's the same old plain recording as before.  I'm in the process of contacting The Orlando Sentinel myself.....if this is their standard practice for "collecting payment", I'm canceling the subscription.  However, I doubt it, I have a feeling there is something more to this number, whether it's fraud or what I'm not sure yet.  Be Aware!!!!!

I've been getting calls from these people over and over again and NEVER is anyone there to say anything when I answer.  I assume it's Orlando Sentinel too b/c they did this to me once before when they wanted me to renew.  Except THAT time I as routed directly to OS (local #).  I did WANT to renew, so I renewed through the paper.  I am sending them a letter asking them to stop this random MN person from calling!

FYI...I have been getting this annoying call for at least 3 weeks from this phone number...I have called many times to get an recording and to leave message...finally they called this evening and I answered and it was the Orlando Sentinel.  I live in Orlando, FL wanting me to renew my subscription.  He was in St. Paul, MN.  Not very nice...the rate was very high compared to what I have been paying.  I plan to call Orlando Sentinel locally and direct.  He could not tell me when my subscription expires (even though I know.)  He wanted me to pay over the phone...watch it...I am not sure this is a fraud or not.  Beware.......

Having been trying for hours to find out who is making these calls - 4 at work alone.  Annoying beyond belief!

Has anyone been able to find out who is making calls without paying an arm and leg for it?

YES!  It's been calling me every day, all day, for weeks now.  When I answer, the call immediately disables.  When I call it back, I get a recording also.  To the person who called the number back and left a msg, did the calls stop after that?
