I received one of these calls today as well.  I pressed 9 to the automated message so I could be asked to be placed on their do not call list.  I waited on hold for a few minutes before someone picked up the phone.  The guy asked if I was responding to the card services message to lower my interest rate.  I said I was because I would like to be placed on their do-not-call list and I informed him that the number he called has been registered with the national do-not-call list for well over the 31 required days.  He responded (and I am not making this up): "I'm on the national sex offender list but I still look at your daughter".  I told him that was extremely rude and that I would be reporting this call to the national do-not-call registry.  He then hung up.

It's no surprise that companies that hire scum like this do worry about breaking the law.  The only way we will get them to quit is by file complaints at https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx.

I am indebted in no one in any manner whatsoever.  I am on the Do Not Call list.  Please put a screeching halt to this nonsense.  Furthermore, how could such a bogus number get through to a customer's telephone?  Where does the value of Caller ID kick in?

If a company is breaking the law, REPORT IT at DoNotCall.gov (click on "File a Complaint") - they have to have complaints in order to move against these people!  You will need to tell them your phone number, the date and approximate time of the call, and whether or not it was a recorded message.

This may be a scam on lowering your interest rate. As of 10/27/2010, it is *ILLEGAL* for companies to charge up front fees for help on unsecured debt like credit card debt http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2010/07/tsr.shtm that states "fees for debt relief services may not be collected until ... the debt relief service successfully renegotiates, settles, reduces, or otherwise changes the terms of at least one of the consumer?s debts."
Just remember --- IF THEY WANT AN UPFRONT FEE, THEN IT'S A SCAM.

I received a call about recently receiving a letter indicating credit card rates increase.  If I wanted to talk to someone press 9, which I did.  A gal answered with asking if I was wanting to talk about credit card rates.  I told her I needed more info on this call and she hung up!  I tried to call back and got an answering machine saying the number or code that I dialed was incorrect.  I am suppose to be on the do not call list.  What the heck happen to it?

Rude...call at all hours, multiple times a day...suggest giving them fake info when they call, it is on their dime at time...perhaps when they have dozens of bogus accounts they might stop calling. ALSO VISA MASER CARD, GREAT WAY TO RERESENT YOUR FIRM!
