This organization has gone by a number of names, including:
A.B.A. INC
JOHNSON AND ASSOCIATES
A.F.P.
A.C.M. GROUP
17291 Irvine Blvd, Suite 304
Tustin, California, 92780
They are committing the same FDCPA violations that got Asset Acceptance, another bottom feeder in hot water with the FTC in January:
A law enforcement action filed by the Department of Justice on the FTC?s behalf charges that Asset Acceptance pursued debts ? including time-barred debts ? in ways that violated the law. Among other things, the complaint alleges that the company:
claimed that consumers owed money when Asset Acceptance didn?t have proof to back it up;
failed to disclose that debts were too old to be legally enforceable or that a partial payment would restart the clock;
failed to give consumers verification of a debt when they asked for it;
provided information to credit reporting agencies it knew ? or had reasonable cause to know ? was inaccurate;
didn?t notify consumers in writing that it passed negative information on to credit reporting agencies;
didn?t conduct reasonable investigations when it got a notice of dispute from a credit reporting agency;
illegally told third parties about people?s debts; and:
used illegal debt collection practices.
In addition to the $2.5 million civil penalty, the settlement puts provisions in place to protect consumers going forward. For example, when dealing with debt it knows or should know is time-barred, Asset Acceptance must disclose to the consumer that it won?t sue on the debt and ? assuming it?s the case ? it has to tell people that it may report nonpayment to the credit bureaus. Once it has made that disclosure, Asset Acceptance can?t sue, even if the consumer makes a partial payment that otherwise would restart the limitations clock.
The order also prohibits Asset Acceptance from making material misrepresentations about debts; from ?parking? debt on a consumer?s credit report when it has failed to notify them in writing; and from violating the FTC Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in the ways alleged in the complaint.

I was left a voicemail by a man stating that I was going to be served at my job for a debt owed. He went on to say that if I had any questions regarding this matter to call Mary Lloyd at 562-231-6922. So, I called. She told me that she was collecting on a debt from 12 years ago that I never had. She knew my address and some of my personal information. She also was very rude when I told her that I never had a loan from the supposed creditor. When I began to inquire she was unable to divulge any information. She is fast talking,insulting,and very rude. She also said she had my social security number and would contact the IRS. I can not wait until these so called collectors (scammers) are prosecuted. I have vowed to her and her associates that they will be caught. I don't care how many miles I have to travel to see these scumbags found guilty. I am also willing to testify against them in any court of law. I have taken the necessary measures to protect my credit and . by contacting local law enforcement, the IRS, and credit bureaus. I will continue to follow this forum so that I may see and participate in the demise of these wretched souls.

These people called looking for my uncle saying they needed to serve him a supenor. (He doesnt even live here). I called them back later on accident because I had the number written down in a list with my Dentist Office who i was trying to call. I said I had the wrong number and some woman said "I dont think so" and hung up. A few seconds later she called back extremely aggressive and I called her a 4 letter word. She then proceded to freak out and insult me over and over and keeps calling back calling me names.

This bi*** just tried scamming us. Do not fall for her people. We called back she kept saying we were pieces of s***. Said my wife had out loans we didn't. She would not state a company name which they have to, the amount we owed. If a collector really wanted money most of them will work for you. Don't fall for her people. Hope this helps people out

Hello Atlanta,
I am sadden to hear that you too are a victim of Mary Lloyd and associates (Scott Taylor, etc.), and I am also very happy to here that you are FIGHTING BACK. Because, I just posted my complaint of these scam artist on this web site (5/8/12) and am ready to fight back as well. I even have a recording of Ms. Lloyd and her associate Mr. Taylor on tape harassing and threatening me with their scam and desperate Debit Collections tactics.
I am also looking to join with other victims like yourself to bring them to justice. Please leave a reply on my post (Lisa M.) and let me know if I can be of any help to you/your attorney in your fight for justice. Thanks.

Today, I received a call from a private number I answered (but normally do not). The caller who said that his name was Scott Taylor of Legal Support Services (with a private phone number) asked if I would be at home today, so that he could serve me legal documents from a legal source or attorney because I was being sued by a Mary Lloyd (an attorney or it's Rep.), and that I needed to contact her at (657) 859-4569 in ordered to get detailed information of the law suit.
So, I called her and discover while talking with her that she in fact was a disguised Debit Collector posing as a legal representative for an attorney's office and or Discover Card. She also led me to believe that the IRS was going to get involved if I did not make payment arrangement with her. When I asked what office that she was calling me from, she became upset, augmentative and defensive when she realized that I knew she was a Debit Collector trying to collect a debt from me (that I filled Bankruptcy for about 11-15 years ago, which is way passed the Statue of Limitations). And, when I told her to stop calling me, she hung-up the phone in my face.
I wanted help in bringing this Mary Lloyd, Scott Taylor (who are obviously working together and probably out of the same office) and their Debit Collection Agency to justice ASAP! They should be investigated and exposed harassing and threatening people, and for what they have done to me and are doing to others mentally and other wise.
I invited ALL victims of these Debit Collection Crooks to join together and fight them in the court of law, so that they and others like them can be STOP!-ASAP!
Please leave a contact number or email address on this complaint board web site if you are an Attorney/Lawyer working towards bringing these crooks to justice or a victim who need other victims to join with you. I have a recording of my conversations with both of the debit collectors as proof of their harassment and scam/fraud.Thank you.

Got a call from "Ms. Robbins" and she was immediately rude from the very beginning. When I told her it was my husbands debt she got even more irate with me and hung up. I called her back and she said she didn't have to give me her company's name since I was refusing to pay the debt. When I asked for what debt, she said she didn't have to tell me nothing. What a freakin joke. Seriously??? Yes in the middle of the afternoon on a Sunday, from a BLOCKED call, I'm supposed to call a 657 number back who doesn't even identify their company, just to call about an "issue". Sure! hang on a sec, let me give you my credit card information for a collection account of which you don't have the acct number, no company name, no other information except she was gonna call MY "local" police that I was harrassing her. So I kept calling and she kept saying she was going to report me. I'm calling her right now and she's screaming at me while I have the phone laying down and typing this. LOL!!

you seem to have issues you should pay your bills before a collection agency gets it....... you are the one who failed to pay your bills.... blame yourself...

Mary Lloyd contacted me on 4/27/2012 she told me that she is working with a law office and they were going to provide a court summons to me. She contacted my HR department and my labor representative to find out my correct address. I provided her with 200.00 the total bill is 453.00 she states that she was going to charge me 1053.00 with the court order. I said I will contact my attorney. He contacted her to determine if this is valid. She spouts off that I need to pay my debt in full by 5/4 and she wouldnt give me a date of 5/10 to pay the debt in full. I look online the next couple of days I see her company has been at it with fraudlent activities. They have contacted my cell phone after 9pm. They told my employer about my debt. I told them via email do not contact my employer and provided my direct home address. I also told them by email since she is not able to provide a original copy of the bill. That I wanted an original copy of the bill she Mary Lloyd seemed to get irrate when I said that and states that I was attempting to get out of our payment agreement. I reported her to the Attorney General of California, Michigan, the FTC and contacted another attorney online to represent me aganist their fraudlent activity. I also made a police report

this is a scam artist. file a report with the FTC and place a fraud alert on your credit report. 800-525-6285
Nissa (this is a scam) 2012-04-30 19:12:02 Unknown
this is a scam and the person that replied before me is probably one of them logging in. they have done throughout this entire forum. some of the posts have been removed but now all, as this one from "linda west". it's a scam. contact the FTC to file a complaint and then place a fraud alert on your credit reports. Start with Experian and then they'll contact the other agencies to do the sam. 800-525-6285 or www.alerts.equifax.com. If you notice accounts being opened fraudently, contact the FTC again and then your local police department.
good luck.
Nissa (fraud alert info for scam calls) 2012-04-30 18:57:36 Unknown
I have just filed a report with the FTC on these scam. The rep advised me that this is a scam and that they are aware of and to contact Equifax to place a fraud alert on my credit report contact: 800-525-6285 or www.alerts.equifax.com. Once you place a fraud alert with Equifax, they will forward the fraud alert to the other agencies. If you ever receive a fraud alert that an account is being opened by someone other than you, contact the FTC immediately to let them know and contact your local police department.
I do really hope a lawsuit will be developed from this information to send these folks a message.
Again do NOT pay these people. Make sure to save any vm messages they leave.
Thanks.
Nissa 2012-04-30 18:43:01 Unknown
Lindluca - these ppl are scam artists. get an attorney and do NOT pay them another dime. this is not a legit agency.
Nissa (do not pay these ppl) 2012-04-30 18:37:53 Unknown
I received calls from this number as well as a harrasing lady that claimed to work for an attorney. I immediately contacted my attorney and forwarded all information to them on this lady and my "real" attorney confirmed that this is a phone scam. The scary part is that they have some of your personal information. I'm not sure what they looked at (i.e. credit report or something else) but they were bugging me about a creditor that was taken care of in a bankruptcy.
As per my attorney, do NOT (i repeat) do NOT give these people the time of day. They are swindlers and will have your $1000/month coming in to pay their bills wherever they live/work. do NOT talk to them, they are rude and obnoxious and only call to irritate you during dinner, after work hours. I'd love to get together a lawsuit in reference to the personal information that they seem to have gathered on those of us posting complaints.
Bottom Line - do NOT pay these people, do NOT entertain their phone call and I also suggest saving their idiotic messages that they leave on your voicemail and take it to an attorney and sue for harrassment.
Enjoy your day
