I just recieved the same call...I live in TX. What can I do about this. They state I owe 986.23 and if I don't pay I will be arrested and taken to jail for 30 days.
I Got the EXACT same call. TOTAL BS>>>
I got a phone call at work threatening to have me arrested for theft and fraud. They could not tell me the date that the event happened except that it was prior to a month ago. They then called me at home and gave me the name of a company they were with and when I tried to find it online, no company existed.
How do I block them
How can this stop they are harassing me at work my boss
Yes how are they getting our work numbers they are harassing my boss
Called my job telling my job I'm wanted I could lose my job just called me we got into an disagreement over phone can we stop this
Just received the same call. I told them I was not aware of what they were speaking about so they transferred me to a person to explain it. They claimed I owed a payday loan and I had severe charges pending against me and I would be arrested Monday morning. I told them to send whatever info they had to my home and she said no you will just be arrested Monday morning and hung up on me. I knew it was a fraud from the beginning. A law office will never call you and tell you your charges and that are you going to be arrested the courts just issue the warrant and come and get you, then you have to get an attorney. Do these people really think I am that stupid!!!
bothered me on my cell phone and now at work, isn't that illegal, what can i do to stop these scammers
I just received a call from them today. They said that they would be calling the FBI and that I will be arrested tomorrow at work. They wanted me to pay $100 today via green dot money pack. I asked "Erica" if she could provide me with an address or a W-9 form and she got very upset. They have very heavy accents.
They don't even say they are debt collectors. If I remember right when collecting any type of debt they have to identify themselves as such.
Fact is you CANNOT go to jail for unpaid loans no matter what these people tell you don't be scared just avoid them or give them a piece of your mind they will stop
This just happened to me it is fraud
I got the same thing today. i was a little mad called back and its saying it a vet office
Continue to receive phone calls at work and my cell phone from "Wilson" and some other name law offices. Told me that all the paralegals had gone home for the day. This has something to do with a pay day loan...say its with Cash America...that if I don't pay...I'd better have a good attorney because they will send an arrest warrant out for me.
I told them my husband would call who is a police officer and they threatened to shoot him down. I would say start there and tell them you will have your spouse call who is a police officer.
Once they make a threat on someones life, well, it is obviously not legit.
Well the just happen to me on yesterday. They left a message at my job and I called back, but they were very rude and then had the nerve to hang up in my face. I spoke with an office about the situation, but I am just like everyone else how and where did they get our info..I also get calls from other #'s that show up as Iowa, Kansas, Florida and etc.. I just ignore the calls.
This is a scam. And yes, you should file complaints, so should your employer. File reports with the FBI, your state attorney general and Department Of Justice,FTC & FCC..

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
? filed under: Press Release
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.
Yes you do. I've noticed a lot of these rotten scammers are preying on women. Doubly rotten. They prey on people who might be in difficult situations and might not know the law or feel uncomfortable going to police or attorney general.
Ignore it. Total scam. Be on the lookout if anyone calls you with an Indian accent threatening you. There is no arrest for civil debt in the US. There are no debtor's prisons. Police do not get involved in ordinary civil disputes. Only a judge can issue an arrest warrant and only if duly constituted law officers make an application and there is reasonable cause. And that is only in criminal matters. An ordinary debt is not a criminal matter. They are trying to SCAM YOU! Ignore it and go to local police and make a complaint. If they can't help you they can at least refer you to your state's attorney general.
They called my job spoke to my supervisor said I was involved in criminal activity that I need to send 1250.00 by Thursday via money pack for a loan I did not take out. When they called from 661-451-2085 they said there name was Jon marshall and that he was a paralegal when I asked more questions he transferred me to some one else . Then they asked me to verify my social and I told them I don't give that out. How do I stop these calls at work and cell??? Do I need to contact my local state's attorney??
I have been getting calls from this number and they have threatened to send the cops to my job and home. Saying I owe 493.00 dollars and if I don't pay today, their sending the police. I'm concerned about them having my information too. What can I do?
I got a call from this number this morning leaving a minute long voicemail saying that a guy named Ricky needs me or my attorney to call him back if not I'm going to get arrested. I searched up the number and seen it was a scam. I called him back letting him know I called the police and was reporting him, and to. Stop calling me and he said I was going to get arrested, then I said about the police and he said bye. I'm scared that he has all my information and can do whatever with it. What else should I do?
Just revived a called from Daniel brewer with a hard Indian accent stating I took out a loan with USA cash and that I had to pay 8,000 dollers or I would go to jail... When I question him he got defensive and when I told him payday loans were illegal in PA he hung up on me!!!! Wow scam scam scam
called me tried to tell me this that I would be arrested, I told them call my number again and I will call the cops on you.... I am so sick of scams. when I called them back once they answered the legal services. what ever Scam Scam Scam dont even wast your time on the phone..
I just got a phone call from them, claiming the same thing, I just filed a police report, if they call back I got a number fort hem to call!! Suckers!
They normally don't give a name when they contact my cell phone today they called my job and left the name John Smith 661-451-2085 x714. They only say they are from a law office and I'm going to be arrested. When I called back a woman with a heavy indian accent answered the phone with law office but because upset when I questioned her about the call.
By law they must provide you with a letter (by US Mail, not fax, text, or email) if you ask for proof of debt.
Same things is happening to me right now every time I try and get more info they say sir you need to pay this when I asked regarding that I don't have them in my bank statements or received letters or emails from this company they stated they do things privately and ddidn't want to bother me but would be arrested if I didn't pay $589.23 by tomorrow.
Denise they did same thing to me saying that if I don't pay today they will arrest me etc they want $589.23 from me by the 27th I got a call last week thursday saying I had til end of day to pay I was able to negoiate with them t o cut it to this week
I was threatened to pay out of court or be arrested at work that evening or the next day. One week later no arrest. This is a scam. They use scare tactic to scam people out of money. No debt collector is allowed to use threatening calls or ask for money in the way they are asking. I am surprised to find that they are still using the same number. I have called them several times calling them out they are scam artist.
