I received multiple phone messages on my business phone from both a female and a male with identical scripts in very broken english with thick, almost unintelligble accents.

I wasn't born yesterday--and because these people are scam artists AND irritating me when I have real work to get done--I took a few moments out of my day to screw with them.

First, I called them back and asked them if they needed directions to the memorial service or the funeral showing.  The male on the other end said "I do not understand what you saying" (very broken english, thick accent).  I then asked, "Sir, what exactly was your relationship with the deceased?  Because the memorial is open to everyone, but the viewing of the body is for family only."  He started in with "you must relay a legal message to XXXXX XXXXXX" (my name X'd out for privacy purposes).  I told him that would be very difficult, considering XXXXX XXXXXX passed away six days ago, and my job was just to direct people on how to get to the memorial service.  He stuttered a bit, then said "sorry to bother you" and hung up.

Oh no, I wasn't done there.  I am just WAAAY too creative not to get even with these idiots even more.  I then went online and filled out every "have an agent contact me" scam I could find.  I entered their name (John Jackson) and their phone number (661-532-8529) for free insurance quotes, free daily horoscopes by phone, free debt relief help, free home improvement memberships, etc.  Hopefully that will cause THEIR phone to ring off the hook with telemarketing  scum and scammers.

But wait, there's more.  I couldn't just hope they would get lots of calls, I had to make sure of it.  So I signed into Craig's List for one of the biggest cities (most populated) that I know of.  I listed an ad stating that I was in search of a payday type of loan, and for anyone in that business to call me and help me through the process.  Again, I listed his name & number.

Then I went into my "spam" folder in my email and found any email that said something to the effect of "you inherited large sums of money from Nigeria" (as an example) and responded to those emails with his name and phone number as well.

Yes, it all is a little bit evil of me, but because these guys arn't in the U.S., I really don't think that our law enforcement is going to be able to do anything about it other than stick it in a file.  If I come up with any more creative ideas to get even, I will definitely come back and post again so that you all might have some of the same fun!

Good luck everybody and absolutely do not give these guys any of your personal information, much less your hard earned money.

These criminals have been calling me and my husband days and nights. They are driving me crazy to a point that I'll do anything to stop these harassment. I've found a post from this website in which the poster has some brilliant ideas to beat them in their own game. They use cheap indian monkeys to call us and we'll "ask" the general public in US to "stop" them. I wonder what will happen if I post a ads in Craiglist about giving away free big screen TV or video game with their return numbers (not the fake caller ID number!)

Now THAT's what I am talking about!

These a-holes were calling me 15-16 times a day, at home, at work...and I never had a "pay" loan.  (I filled out the form online for one, but when I read the "terms and conditions", I decided not to do it.)

Anyway, 5 days ago, I finally had it.  I googled the phone number & found this site.  I read a post from someone called "2 Creative", and decided to invest 2 1/2 hours of my day off to screw with them the same way 2 Creative did, and guess what?  I haven't heard a peep from them since!  It actually works...try it.  (I did have to hear a lot of screaming and cussing, but nonetheless it worked!)

Go get them everyone...look up the post from "2 Creative" and it will tell you exactly how to do it and finally get some peace and quiet.  (And SCREW those terrorist bastards!)

I think we're all victims of a breech of information.  Some organization we have a relationship with likely lost our info and these guys got a hold of it.

"I'm talking to you Mr. Watson."

I'm not stupid.  There's no way in hell you're getting any money out of me and if you think you're petty threats to come to my house frighten me, then let me tell you one thing, "I'm a Army Ranger and multiple tour combat vet.  I'd like to see you try."

I recieved the same phone call yesterday They claimed that I was the "Prime Suspect" in a case that was filed against me in my state. They also had the heavy middle eastern accent you all write about and they sounded as if they were reading a script. The 1st call was a message left on my cell and when I called the number the person claimed to be Jacob Brown from the Law offices of John Washington and Associates. They demanded that I pay the amount of $620.75 in order to stop this from going to Court today at 11am.  I needed to write a letter (affidavit- my word, not theirs). authorizing them to w/draw that amount from my acct. They wanted all my credi/debit card acct info including exp dt and CVV code, my SS#, mailing address and a copy of my Driver's License!!! They also wanted me to have this letter notarized. When I told them I had to pay for the notary as well, they said it was okay to send w/out it and they will notarize it themselves. That's what gave them away to me. I did some research on the number the call came from. it was an 818 area code (CA) and the Fax # has a 951 arrea code (TX). I have filed a complaint with the State Attorney General's office and with the FTC. Please, Please don't fall into this scam they will rip you off take all your money and then have the nerve to say God Bless you and Good luck. Are you F***ing kidding me? Hopefully w/ all of us filing these complaints and posts we can stop these ignorant b*****ds once and for all. So..." Good Luck" to THEM in trying to get way with This sh*

How coincidental that you used the same filthy language, same threatening tone and have the same clear ignorance of how to properly read, write or speak the English language.  We ALL know you are one of the scam artists, so quit wasting time.

Does your boss know you are srewing around on the internet when you are supposed to be on the phone trying to illegally get money out of people?

This company is disgusting and I cannot stand that they are trying to take advantage of people!! They claimed I had a court date TOMORROW in a state that I haven't lived in in years, and that I could pay $823 to make this "go away". "Ronald" informed me that he could tell me when the money was taken out and the account number it was transfered to. The acct was not mine and the timing was all wrong for it to be me. He then tried to explain how someone must've used my information, but it is still MY information therefore I had to pony up the cash (not in those exact words of course). The call came through a 2680005 phone number, so I knew it must be a scam because the majority of scams are coming in from different countries, and I'm sorry but they're calling me from a call center and claiming they're a law firm in California. I pity anyone who gets taken advantage of from these thieves. I told "Ronald" that if he ever conacted me again I would press harassment charges and for him to go to Hell. I suggest that everyone else do the same.

Yeah I got at call from a number 2680005. no area code just those 7 numbers. So I pretty much knew that it was a scam. I played along asked to speak to Christopher. Never said my last name. Said that American PayDay is filing 3 charges on me. And then they said for me to call my attorney. The Joke was on them. My attorney was right next to me and took the phone. Basically she put them in there place stating that they are fake and asked the address of the courthouse or the courthouse location. He couldn't answer. If a lawsuit is file on there behalf they should have at least the address to the courthouse. So smart of her. I love this woman. And she knows it. But it is a scam.

I have received several phone calls and voice messages from this caller who does not speak clear English. Threating me to respond. The caller knows my last 4 digits of my social security number. I had requested their address & name and the caller gets irate and very demanding and hateful. I had my attorney call  and then the caller gets demanding and hateful with her. I believe this is a scam!! Watch out. The number the caller gives to call back is 661-532-8529.. Something needs to be done with these people. The business needs to be shut down.

Legit collectors, per section 809 of the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf , *must* send you paperwork stating :
1. amount and the name of the current creditor (which may differ from the original creditor who might have sold your debt),
2. that debt will be assumed to be valid unless you dispute in writing within 30 days,
3. that if you do dispute in writing, the collector must mail you written verification of the debt,
4. that if you ask the collector in writing within 30 days, the collector must send you the name and address of the original creditor if it's different from the current creditor.
If you don't get the paperwork (you do not have to ask for it, the FDCPA requires the collector to send it), treat the collector like you would any SCAMMER.
Scammers are using bought/hacked loan application data to extort payments for fictitious debts from victims and victims' families and friends.
The FBI warns about payday loan extortion scams here http://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/paydayloanscam_120710
The BBB has issued several alerts on this scam, just google "bbb.org alert phony debt collector"
Report to the Internet Crime Complaint Center http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate.

Oh, this is rich... I called the number (blocking my caller ID of course), and a guy answered, claiming that this number was for his private cell phone It was obvious that there were other people in the background (all sounding like foreign accents). I told him I was from the Attorney General's office, and he got VERY flustered. I informed him that this number was being used in a scam to defraud people of money, claiming they refused to repay payday loans. He then tried recording the call, which I said I refused. When hw turned of the recording, this "kid" voice got on the line and said "do you want to talk to my daddy?" It was obvious that it was the guy trying to get out of this predicament. A couple of seconds later, he hung up.

Hi all, For the last few weeks, I have received the same phone call.  I know it is a scam, because I have never applied for an internet loan....The guy that has called my cell phone for the past 10 minutes, non stop says his Peter Barton, with JWC Lawfirm.  He claims I owe an "American Payday" advance.  I don't know how they got my #, but I continue to tell them that if they keep calling, I will be pressing charges against them for harrassment.

Last Friday, I thought I would play along with them....just to see how phony they really are. I asked their names, phone #, what company they are with.  On Friday, it was "Florida Criminal Investigators" today it is JWC Lawfirm.  This is really upsetting.  I asked them how much I owe, and they couldn't give me any details. He just kept threatening a law suit.

Well, once I was willing to provide him with my attorney's phone #, he kept sayint that he will setting for $800.00, I basically told him to f@*^ off.  I am so upset with these calls, and I have told them to STOP calling me several dozen times.  The # he gave me to call back is 661-532-3529, doesn't come up as a legit business, not that I thought it would anyways.....

Folks, I want to let you know that both the FBI and FTC are actively investigating this. I work for a federal court judge. These jerk offs made a HUGE mistake calling me. The FBI field office for my region of my state happens to be two doors down from ours. Each call I received was recorded, and the FBI is tracing the origin of the calls. Being that I work in a federal agency, the spoof number system DOES NOT WORK. What is distressing is that some of these calls originate within the US. However, that makes it that much easier to track them..... they will be caught!!!

They screwed with the wrong girl here. The last call I got, three weeks ago, I put them on hold and got the FBI agent , who took the call. We tracked the number to Texas.

Ding dong.......before they know it, they will be busted!

I have been getting calls from these same people stating that I still owe for a payday loan for the American Pay Day Loan company, for the last almost year. They started calling my place of employment right after I started to work there. I was almost in tears when the guy threatened to come to my place of employment and arrest me that I had a breakdown with my manager...she assured me that they were fraudulent and not to worry about it. I have told him that I never had taken a payday loan out and so it must not be me and he assured me it was by stating my banks name, last four of social, telephone number, address, email address, and place of employment. I did some research and all of this information is pretty easy for someone to get on you but one thing you should never do is verify any of the information or give them anything else. You have to ask them questions to get as much information as possible because after a while of answering the questions they get tired and angry and threaten you and then hang up. A reputable legit company would never act in such a way, and also if you tell them (or a real company) to stop contacting you for a debt (even a real debt) they legally have to stop phone contacts and have to send you something in the mail or summons to court. Since then I have told them that I have talked to the District Attorneys office as well as the FBI and they have gotten ballsy and stated that they were having the call recorded by the supreme court house. After they said that and I called them out on the lie he stated that he was forwarding the case to some agents who would arrest me since I was the lead suspect on the case. After I laughed and stated that I did not want his indian fraudulent a** calling me again and to get a decent respectable real job, he hung up. I get these calls about 3 or 4 times a month...I think I am going to start having fun with them and play some jokes and sign them up for calls for other known scam things...LOL this s*** is ridiculous...
