For at least the last year, an illegal group of debt collectors have been terrorizing consumers, their family, friends, and employees threatening to arrest the individual of an unpaid loan or other debt (their generally don't even owe). Be aware debt is a civil matter, not a criminal matter, and you can't be arrested. They threaten a warrant if the victim does not pay a sum of money by the credit card over the phone.

Some of the people they are calling do not owe a debt.  Others they are calling have already settled their debt with the organization who owns the accounts. Even if you do owe a debt, do not be deceived by the actions of this group.  Many of the accounts they are attempting to collect they do not own.  In other words, if you pay these people, that is not going to clear your debt with its rightful owner.  

Although when pressed the callers give the victim an address in Columbia South Carolina (usually a vacant lot) or Atlanta GA (often a parking lot near the bus station or a Peachtree Road Address). They are actually out of the Charlotte North Carolina area. The scammers are using the following business names (and there are many others, and they seem to create new ones daily).  They will normally answer the call back number as ?Investigations?

I took a $400.00 loan from American Web back in 2011. I have made payment arrangements with this company. This morning I received  a call from an investigator Stephanie Grace. She told me if I didn't pay $820.00 within the hour, I would be arrested for fraud. Then when I called her back, I told her I had arrangements with American Web, then she said pay $289.00 and the Arrest would not happen. My son paid the $289.00 for me, then i called an attorney because people were telling me this was a scam. Now I have to tell my son to flag his account, Mad as hell..

got the call when i called backed told me i had to pay and when i said i wouldnt pay she hung up on me lol then said i would be picked up

SAME CALL SAME MSG I OWE A DEBT FOR A LOAN I NVR TOOK OUT AND THAT I WOULD BE PICKED UP IF I DIDNT PAY THIS FROM DETECTIVE GRACE.. ANYONE BEEN PICKED UP YET FROM THIS CALL?

I received a harrassing call on 1\24/13 stating that I owed money. Everyone is right it sounds like a scam.

I received the same call on 1/20/14. They called my relatives too. Their approach sounds like a scam.

Just recieved a call stating i owed money and if I didnt pay in an hr a warrent would be issued for my arrest. The woman said her name was Investagator Grace and she was calling from my county yet the number she gave is from Atlanta GA. Was very rude as well.

Supposed harassing investigator stating if I don't call back there will be a warrant and/or files charged against me. Yea good luck, I don't owe anything nor am I stupid enough to call you back.
