These people kept calling and would not leave a message. I called back to get them to stop. The woman said she was from the American Kidney Fund. I was informed that a truck would be going down my street next Wednesday and wondered if I had anything I would like to donate. I told them to take my name off of thier list.

I had the same exact experience. I must have seen this number on my caller ID about a dozen times over the last few weeks. I finally picked up the phone and was going to tell them to go away when a lady identified herself as Barbara from the American Kidney Fund. She said they would be in my neighborhood on Thursday and asked if I would like to donate. I told her I would and she said she would call the night before to follow-up.
She called as promised but it was weird that she called back again to ask if I'd seen another truck in my neighborhood the day before. She said a woman down the street from me had another truck come by and take her donation and they claimed to be AKF. This is actually what made me suspicious and I began looking into the number.
I found that the hours for AKF pickup are different than the ones she told me (she told me they pick up as early as 7AM and late into the night-I thought that was strange), the AFK normally sends me something in the mail instead of a phone call, and none of the numbers for the Atlanta office come even close the this one. I did a reverse lookup and the information was "unpublished or unavailable". So, I called the number back and it just rang and rang, no voice mail. Shocker. I'm going to leave a nice note on the door and if it really is AFK they can leave some sort of documentation and I will donate next time.
