Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

I have received 5 calls today from 678-545-6781 telling me that I need to call back it's regarding a legal matter and good luck.
All I have to say good luck to them if they think I will call them back. Do not answer your phone if you get a call from them just egnore them.

Answered the phone, it was a recording about a serious legal matter and to press one to be forwarded to the person handling my case.  I pressed 1 and the phone hung up.

keep receiving calls from 678-545-6781 in the early mornings. 2/25 @ 6:58am and 2/21 7:18am...not only not ligit,not leagal times to call per Ca law

These calls are co9ming several times a day. They never leave a message and threaten to serve me papers at my work. I have done no business with this company

How can I get this to stop?  I got same call that said the Tri State Attorney stuff....

Got a call from Stacey Davenport for Tri-State Attorney Services.  Called my house phone, work, and cell.  States I have an unpaid payday loan from 2008.  I asked for written documentation and she said papers would be sent to my work place for garnishment.  I haven't ever had a payday loan, but she had all my info.  Is this company legit?

Thanks Gunnar.....I'm sick of these calls....I leave no.I don't know go to voice msg...and I check them out and report them than block them....plus I'm on the do not call list.....

She's just another fraud! The scammers are getting antsy. Starvation does that to people. The public has caught on to their games. Their "take" is dropping precariously. The domestic frauds are digging deeper, the foreign frauds are resorting to even slimier tactics. These are good signs! Maybe we can put them all out of our misery soon!
Sites like this one are putting huge dents in the bogus & fraudulent debt collection racket. Which has been objective of the regulars here for years. Reading the "Shill" posts is proof of our success.
Know your rights as a consumer under the FDCPA. They're not complicated. Just Google it, or use a link provided on this site. Then pass that knowledge on to others. "Knowledge is power".....the power to hammer bogus & fraudulent debt collectors!

I got a voice msg on my phone...a Mrs Ray saying its urgent to talk to me cause their sending a file to my county for wage garnishment the next day and for me to call this number and ext.1118 and good luck to me....Never said company name or anything...

dear payday loan scammer--the next time you call i can press a number on my phone to the fbi who can trace your call and be there in a flash --even in India! or wherever you might be located.  unlike you threatening to serve me and wishing me good luck.  get a real job losers
