I got the same call saying they were from the treasury department and they asked for the way wrong name.   This is a scam 100% and I would never answer or call this one back.

It left a message saying they were from the Department of US Treasury.

You can not even call this number back.

This is a scam trying to get your personal information. The US Treasury has warned against these types of calls and has said they (the US Treasury) would never ask for personal information. These scammers have programs that auto obtain random phone numbers and they call hoping to get your number. They also buy your number even though you may be on the Do Not Call list. Do not give out your information nor call them back.

I received a call from this number and it looked suspicious so I didnt answer.  A woman left a message claiming to be from the treasury department, but they addressed me by the wrong name, told me to call a 1-888 number, and gave me a reference number to give to the person who receives my call.  The number does not come up on google.  I went to the treasury departments website and their contact number is (202) 622-2000.

I answered, person stated they were from "A Bank" and needed me to verify my checking account information because my account had unusual activity of large purchases on it. I explained to them that I am not or ever was, or anyone in my family for that matter been a member of said bank. They tried pushing the issue and I simply told them that I knew this was a scam and would be alerting the proper authorities. They hung up after cursing me.
