Another scam robocall about lowering credit cards.
Since they refuse to stop calling, best thing to do is get back at them by wasting their time and giving them bogus info.
Saavy 2011-06-06 20:54:15 Unknown
Your are SO right, Patti, especially about the 'wild west' comment. Thanks to the Regan-Bush-Bush2/Cheney years, almost ALL our consumer and civil protections have been nullified.
John from Missouri 2011-06-06 20:54:15 Unknown
A while ago I chased this number down, cardholder services might be Discover Card. I filed a don not cal complaint with the Missouri Attorney General's office - they directed me to Discover Card. I wrote Discover Card - the calls went away for about 6 months. They returned last night. It's my phone, they have no "right" to call me and I really get angry when I get these calls that interrupt my family time. I will cancel my DC if I find out it's them again. We have been cardholders with DC since 1984.

They call every day. Back to back to back to back calls. It rings about 10 to 15 times before they hang up and call right back. We did answer it a few times but no one says anything.

Caller ID shows this call is originating in "Center, ND"
There was a recorded message in voicemail, but it began in the middle of the message, and no company was identified. Message referred to "lowering your interest rate."
We are on the Do Not Call list.
Pluff Diddy 2011-06-06 20:54:15 Unknown
These so-called people are the scum of the Earth. They are cowards.
Flatulate in their ear if you get the opportunity - that they will understand - but be careful they may construe that to be a reply of "yes".
Dave 2011-06-06 20:54:15 Unknown
I wasn't home for the call, so it wasn't answered. I have noticed that we get many phone solicitor calls weekly, but since we have the answering machine set to 6 rings, 90% of them disconnect before the machine answers. I believe most of these calls are computer generated and the computer is programed to let the phone ring 4 times. If there is no answer by then they go to the next number.
Doug 2011-06-06 20:54:15 Unknown
Same as everyone else said. When I asked them not to call again (after the 4th time I pressed 2 to be put on their do not call list) they hung-up on me. Next time, they're getting an earful!
Patti 2011-06-06 20:54:15 Unknown
If you are not expecting a call- don't answer it, let the machine pick up and it's safer to listen
and not be live on the air with them. Unscrupulous types will record you saying 'yes' and use it
to justify bogus charges on your bill, which they will prove with the tape of a voice on your end
saying 'yes'. They did this with our daughter, who was home from college one summer,
and asked her to 'verify' our billing information, which she was glad to do. I'm not saying this particular
number is behind such scams, just saying BEWARE and it's better to be safe than sorry. If you do
answer and they seem to be working REALLY hard to get you to say 'yes' repeatedly- hang up quickly.
The US is like a third- world country now, like the wild west again in some respects, and the sooner you 'get it', the better.
gfgayle 2011-06-06 20:54:15 Unknown
This is a totally unprofessional company. First, the call is an automated call. It begins stated that there is a possible problem with your 'card'. Second, they never mention what 'card' is involved. Third, when I responded to their "Please press one'" option I had to wait almost a full minute for a representative. When the rep came on the line I expressed my desire to be removed from their call list he promptly hung up without a word to me.
Locke 2011-06-06 20:54:15 Unknown
Claimed to be Rachel from cardholder services. My wife hung up on them, had I answered I would have tried to get the name of their company to file s Do not call list violation. Beware, it's a scam, they are a credit card fraud ring. Caller ID said "RESET"
Mandy 2011-06-06 20:54:15 Unknown
They will not give you a name for a comapny, I ask every time and they just hang up on me.
Patricia B. 2011-05-16 22:07:26 Unknown
I have gotten repeated calls from this number. Is this a scam boiler room or credit card sales tactic?
Bill Austin 2011-05-13 20:13:32 Unknown
I am on Do not call list
Jack 2011-05-13 19:31:39 Unknown
If it's not your cell phone/aka using minutes, the best thing to do is pretend to be interested and waste as much of their time as possible. Best case, they'll decide your number is too much trouble. Worst case, you wasted their time and got some entertainment out of it.
You can even try to get them to call you back at another number, and give them a bogus number like an ISP dialup number.
Furm 2011-05-13 16:32:24 Unknown
Keep getting this message -- call back and enter 1 to be discontinuted from their program and it doesnt work. What does it take to have these calls stopped or at least legitamize the caller? I havent been able to answer the call and there is not message left.

1. ALL are SCAMS/ID THEFT attempts using the themes of "lowering interest rates" or "winning a home security system". ALL attempt to get CREDIT CARD NUMBERS and/or personal info such as SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS.
2. ALL are ROBO-DIALED, thus the reason that many are 'blank' or 'no one there calls' or don't leave a message. (These are computer generated calls that, dial as many as 10 numbers at a time. The FIRST one answered goes to a live person in a "Boiler Room" Call center (TELEMARKETERS, so to speak) who then pick up their handset and proceed to launch into their SCRIPT to try and either SELL to you or STEAL YOUR INFORMATION FOR FRAUD PURPOSES. The REST of the calls in the bank of 10 are put into ?limbo? or dropped for the moment, BUT the COMPUTER RECORDS THIS and PUTS THOSE NUMBERS BACK into the SYSTEM to CALL AGAIN, later.)
3. ALL are using ALL or mostly FOREIGN ACCENTED CALLERS, of hispanic or ASIAN-INDIAN origin, thus..
4. I suspect these are all ONE AND THE SAME "Company" which is using various "SPOOFED" (false, pretending to be somewhere/someone they are NOT) NUMBERS and PROBABLY NOT EVEN ON U.S. SOIL; probably GENERATED OVERSEAS in some SQUALID GOD FORSAKEN COUNTRY with NO RESPECT or MORALS for US VALUES and LAWS. This call came in while we were at work. For once they left a (partially) recorded message, but I've heard it all before, so I didn't miss anything. This is a 'new' number on an OLD SCAM; all of which have this is common:
1. ALL are SCAMS/ID THEFT attempts using the themes of "lowering interest rates" or "winning a home security system". ALL attempt to get CREDIT CARD NUMBERS and/or personal info such as SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS.

Caller ID said Mastercard. Mastercard and Visa do not call people to lower rates - this is an overseas scam where they fake the caller ID in attempt to fool you into giving up your baking info. this is extremely difficult to track down the scammers because they are overseas and the numbers displayed on caller ID are usually faked.
Best thing you can do is answer the call, press the option to speak with their operator and lead them on for a while. After you've wasted their time, politely tell them that you werent interested at all and that you were just wasting their time just like they did to you by calling in the first place. Typicaly call center reps are graded by their handle time and close rate. if you waste their time and they don't close they might get annoyed enough to put you on a waste of time list. trust me, they don't care about a do not call list.

Amazes me that these companies are not shut down. They call from a different number every week or so and always offering to lower my interest rate. As the others have stated, they are phishing for information so they can defraud your account and play havoc with your credit rating. Do Not Call list, means Do Not CALL!
