Every single month or 20-25 days, we get calls from AMVETs requesting donations. No matter how many times I ask them to take the number off the list, it falls on deaf ears. Today, not once, but twice we received a call from (703) 539-5977 claiming they are Wells Fargo. The first time a man called (and clearly didn't know the person he's asking for because he didn't even know how to pronounce the last name) and I said if you are trying to sell something or asking for a donation please don't call back ever again,... the phone is reserved for friends and family alone. One hour later a woman called from the same number asking for the same person (without mentioning the last name.) I don't know what any of this is about other than someone getting the impression that I'm their secretary that working for free.

JUst called and I answered but do not answer.

They've started up again!

Came up as Local Call... seems to call every evening around 8pm...leaves no message.

Said "Local Call."  No message left.

(703)539-5977 -- they left no message. When I called back I got an AMVETS recording. I am a veteran and this ticks me off that and organization like this would call at 8:57pm on a thursday ....... second day in a row.

They've been calling various times of the day every day for the past couple weeks from this number and another number, and they just called at 8:25 PM  WTH?!  Seriously?!  I'm trying to get my 4 year old in bed.  So I answered and told the lady on the other line just that.  She didn't seem to think it was that late.  When you're pregnant and have other young children, yes it is.

If this is AMVETS at 703-539-5977  Caller ID Vienna, VA and Caller ID "Call Center, MD" iat 240-210-7080 is also AMVETS then they called me 2 times Today A SUNDAY at 1:55 PM (Call Center) and 2:49 PM (Vienna). I let the answering machine pick up as usual both times and both times NO MESSAGE.

On IGNORE in a manner of speaking.

It is Amvets - I answered the phone and the guy was all perky and determined to get a donation.  I told him no, then he came back with something else, I told him no, then he came back with wounded soldiers, etc., I told him no...then he came back with something else...I hung up.  

I am not in a position to donate to you, please accept that and leave me be...I don't hate your cause, and I'm not trying to me cheap...I'm hardly making ends meet.  Leave me alone already.

Calls every evening around 8pm, comes up as LOCAL CALL, they never leave a message and seem to hang up before my machine picks up...it's as if they know. ;-)

Just got a call from this number ID said Vienna, VA

If it is AMVETS as others have said they are a LEGIT Non-Profit Organization. I don't know why they don't leave any message. A few years ago when I was living at my family's home we used to get calls from them periodically when they were coming to our neighborhood to collect goodwill clothes/misc items and they used to leave messages.

These calls however are asking for donations so maybe the laws about that are different. Still the caller ID should say AMVETS then.

getting calls from this number and it's not local. Just plain idiots. Phones suck. I'm going to live in the woods like a hermit.  I HATE MY PHONE.

I dialed the number and it's AMVETS. No biggie no worries no fraud.

got a call from that number as well. Left no message adn when I did answer, just a lot of static.

Obviously fraudulent caller ID information. They may be a collection agency. I have receive numerous calls from collection agencies (or maybe just one with fake caller ID info) asking for someone else). Collection agencies are known for not being intelligent enough to use a phone book, and for not believing it when they are calling the wrong number. Although they lack a 3rd-grade education, they insist that they are calling the correct number. If you receive multiple calls from them (I got only two), you should go"https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/" and file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission for violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Called number back. Got recording saying that the call was "the automated answering system for Amvets and they were sorry for the inconvenience but if you would like to help out please call their 800 number...."

Called @ 8:21PM EST. No message left.

Called Saturday 5/10.  Left no message.
