I thought the NRA was not going to let the guns with more than 16 rounds be pass, but I am hearing that in Denver it has passed and now Governor Hickenlooper is going to sign it into law. Where are you NRA?

Been getting calls from these jack***es nearly every day for 3 months (6pm like clockwork).

I have answered and talked to them twice... The first time, They said they were with the NRA raising money, and were looking to talk to my 14 year old sister. I told them to screw off, and remove my number. The lady then tells me that if I "donate $10 to the NRA" they will stop calling me, then seemed taken aback when I said Hell no.

2 days later, I answer and talk to a guy. I tell him about the previous call and he says he is sorry, there must have been a mistake and he will take my number off.

1 month later, the calls have started coming back in. I've reported it to my local Govt. but they haven't gotten back to me at all, so it doesn't seem anyone cares.  I have started answering and screwing with them now. Hopefully I can waste enough of their time that they give up.

I doubt this has anything to do with the NRA... I am betting it's more likely a scam using the NRA's name. DO NOT GIVE THEM MONEY. DO NOT TELL THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO.

hey everyone, i have trouble with the National riffle association calling me to,
I found a phone number with a live person  click on #1 option for membership to get through to live person.  then tell them your problem.  They willf  forward u to a dept that suppose to take care of it, but i was put on hold for a long time, so tell her to connect to a person directly, not to go through the hold crap.   Ask to speak to her supervisor as that who she got for me to speak to anyway.  The supervisor to my info and said she would take care of it- it would take 2 weeks to go through the system.  Here is the number to try.   1-800-672-3888.

Receiving calls from 703-656-9940 at 8:30 in the morning. Very annoying,, the calls are coming in every day.  Caller ID shows NRA.  I have had nothing to do with the NRA.  There is no one there when I pick up.  I am on the do not call list.  How did they get through.  I would like to stop these calls.

Try this : When the message ends, press  #.  When  I did that, a woman answered and I asked her to put me on the NRA do not call list.

Good luck--time will tell if it worked for me.

If you receive calls from this number or any other that has the NRA listed in the caller ID, just call the NRA at 1-800-672-3888  choose an option, maybe the last one would be the best, and tell them to remove your phone number from their list. If the phone calls stop then it was from them...I believe the will and have to honor your request to stop calling, but if the calls continue then it could be a scam just using NRA as a caller ID.
It does make me sad to think that the NRA would actually stoop to telemarketing, but the person I spoke to did admit they have a list of numbers that they call for purpose of trying to gain support and get more people signed up....I told them they will only hurt the image of the NRA with a telemarketing campaign.

They keep calling and asking for my boss, who is rarely in the office.  When I ask them if they want to leave a message, they say "No message" and will call back.  They just called and hung up on me.

Several times a day with no answer, i might write a letter to the ny state attorney general's office.  They might be a political organization but there must be some law against harrassment of this scale.  I bet it's either an automated machine or there are people that get paid for completing a quota and they do these call and hang ups to meet it without actually talking.

Thank you very much for this information.  I did call the number and pressed 1 then pressed 3.  They said by law on the recording it make take up to 30 days to remove.  I hope not, but thanks for the information.  We spend more wasted time trying to get rid of the unwanted call, and lose our important ones, such as our customers.

They also call businesses - just received a call from this number, asking for the owner of the company.  Told him he's not available and offered to take message. He refused to give me any information and I didn't have a chance to tell him to take the owner's name off their list. "No, I'll just call back later" - then he hung up.  Called the number back and yep, a recording saying it's the NRA.  Of course, no access to a live person - that would be too professional and above board.  Guess their strategy is to be sneaky and rude.  No surprise.

One of several professional “Call-Centers” the NRA hires to dunn people for contributions under the guise of conducting surveys.  The NRA’s headquarters are in Fairfax, Va, not Manassas but these guys are certainly in the neighborhood. Last year, they did the same thing, but with a different survey firm which drew many complaints for their rude and unprofessional behavior.  Sounds like little has changed.  Blocking the number worked for the last one, I’ll see how it does this time around.

UPDATE: Blocking the number seems to have worked. No more NRA calls.  This should put to rest any rumors that this is actually National Recovery Associates (one of the most disreputable zoo of vermin in the collections industry) Single-number blocking almost never works on collectors as they have too many phone lines.  Besides, anyone who would deliberately sully the public image of a nationwide organization of heavily-armed, well-trained marksmen would have to be either very brave or very stupid and debt collectors have never been known for either courage or smarts!

Asked to be taken off the call list (don't own a gun, never will). He was very polite and said he would.

We keep getting calls from this NRA# and they always hang up.  Or, they ask for my husband and will not leave a message for him. The caller will not take a "NO" or "STOP" for an answer. He just said "I'll try to reach him some other time". When I call 703-656-9940 a recorded message will state "Sorry, we missed you. The NRA attempted to reach you with some recent updates"

The NRA is not the NRA you are thinking of. It is the National Recovery Association. That is why there is no one responding. They pester you until you call THEM. Do not fall for their tactics.

The asked for my husband, that I got rid of 34 years ago.  Then I said what do you need him for, he said The National Rifle Association.  I just said we don't believe in guns at this house.  He answered, you don't have to believe in guns, does that mean Mr. isn't there?  Kind of personal if you ask me.....how rude.  It was 8:10 p.m. when they called.

They call at least every other day, it seems - always around 4:00pm. I finally called the number back and discovered that it is the National Rifle Association, but the recorded message says they have an important update for me. I have never been a member of the organization, nor do I even own any guns, so what "important update" could they have for me?

It's a collection agency, although they list some of their numbers under "NRA" (this is NOT the "National Rifle Association," although it may be convenient to them for you to think so.)  They buy bad debts for pennies on the dollar, and then try to collect them.
They use computer-assisted telephone dialing equipment to save them time.  If one of their "agents" (collectors) are free when you answer the call, the signal goes to the next agent.  If no collector is free (off the phone when you answer,) the computer disconnects the call, and starts all over again.
That's why there is often no one there when you answer the phone.  You can ask them to "put (your) number on the do-no-call list," and they might or might not.  There ought to be a law... oh, wait, there is!; just not enough penalties to bother them, I guess.

Continue to get called around 6pm or 8:30pm and frequently get a hang up as I soon as I answer. It appears to be the NRA and I have asked to be taken off the call list to no avail. Would love to know how to report them as I do not believe they should be calling us as we have no association with them and they are now really harassing us since we have asked repeatedly that they stop
