A woman with a strong accent asked for my name  but said my last name wrong and i mean its an easy last name and no one ever says it wrong. I got a little susp. I asked who she was she once again asked if this is me, i asked again who she was and where she was calling from, she hung up. Scam!!!!!! And if it is a third party from rbc what rude people they have working for them.

so they called and they know my name and mailing address there going to send me something... should i be worried  i did not give my credit card info. im so nervous rite now. i called the bank and said to wait what they send dont fill anything out and bring it to them

I've been getting calls from them from different numbers but the same person speaking about "personal info protection plan" on behalf of RBC. Just ignore them and hang up the phone.

Just got a call from so called 'RBC... whatever BS' trying to sell me something about security package.. DO NOT TELL THEM ANYTHING. Report to police or RBC security department. This retard did not even listen to what I was trying to say to him. FAKE.

How did they have my full address?  

Was suspicious when he asked to verify my name.  I said it without thinking and then when he asked my address, I figured it was a scam so I asked him to tell me and I'll verify.  Faster than I asked I was transferred to a girl who must have been listening to the call because she instantly went on to say "I'll help you verify you address".  I'm like "wtf, who's this?".  Then she spouted out my address and I told them to take a hike.

look, I realize fraud is common and that we need to maintain appropriate vigilance and protect ourselves from fraud.  However, WHY are people posting false information on this site regarding this number?  I was just called from 705 797 2495.  The guy seemed to have a lot of personal information about me, so I told him I wanted to call RBC to verify that he was actually calling me from a legit number, etc.  He was fine with that.  I called the RBC fraud prevention people, and sure I was given the run around being connected to a couple of different people before getting the answer I needed.  However, it DID turn out to be a legit number, so all of you people who are saying it's a fraud/phishing, etc, need to stop making stuff up.  People look on these websites for quick information (for me, while waiting on hold for 20 min with the bank; distracts me so I won't panic as much!) and having to sift through information vs fabrication isn't helpful.  Anyway, of course don't take my word for it, because you don't know who I am, but call the bank and get the information yourself.  Unfortunately, people will probably never see my post, because they will have to read through a bunch of BS to even get to it!

This number called me claiming to be RBC, insurance company and wanted all the information off every piece of ID so they can protect it if I ever lost my wallet, and help me replace all of them with one simple phone call! Total SCAM!!!!!!!!!

I received a call from "1-705-797-2495" A woman who couldn't speak English stated my name and then a man who could speak English took over the phone. He claimed to be selling insurance for Royal Bank the insurance started with an A I can't remember exactly. He stated this insurance would cover if I ever lost my wallet and to get everything replaced such as my passport, drivers license, SIN card, health card.... All I would have to do is just give him all my information on every piece I would like to be replaced if i ever lost them. And they would be replaced with one simple phone call..... I told him this was the stupidest thing I have ever heard of!!! and hung up! Total scam!! Do not give out your private information to these people!!!

Got phone call from this number, the person said as he is calling from RBC. I told him as I am now busy, and he said to call later.

Just got a call from one of them seemed kind of strange had my dad's full name, last time i encountered on of these, it was similar called multiple times a week and when i answered it was just no noise on the other line and eventually hung up on me. So i got fed up of receiving so many damn calls, so the last time they ever called here i told them; That the next time they decide to call here the RCMP will be contacted and I will be pressing charges of harassment and whatever the police decide to do with you. Funny enough after that i never had them call back, Ha! There all spineless money sucking shrimps, hope this helps you guys out!!

I have receieved several calls from someone claiming to be from RBC in the past month. At first it sounds like a real person, a man, but if you listen closely, it's  recording. If you ask it weird questions, it gives you weird answers. He claims to be calling regarding you RBC Visa and wants to sign you up for an Identity protection plan that's free for a month, you just need to confirm the spelling of your name and information first. When I asked "is this a recording?" it said "You're talking to a live person, but this is a computer". SCAM.

Have been getting calls form this # once a day for over a week now, as well as 1-519-266-6839, 1-91-778-373-5011, 1-403-456-6015, & 1-587-897-2743.  So friggin' annoying, I just added them to a reject list, so I don't even notice the calls anymore.

I have this number continually call my cell, its automated, for what, not known. Put it on reject list so now does not get through. No info on it either real peeved at these type of calls especially when my number is private not listed anywhere since I got it only thing I figure they got it is the number was previously used and reused again which happens a lot now with throw away phone. :(

I work for a large FI in Canada who investigates fraud of all types and this # is not known to us. DO NOT DISCLOSE any information to these people. Simply tell them you will contact your bank with the number on the back of your client card.
