Forgot to mention - be sure to call PG&E Customer Service and file a complaint with them about this company deceptively claiming to be managing rebates in their name (provided the pitch you received claimed they were doing this as part of a PG&E program).  Provide the website or office # to PG&E so their legal reps start to get information that may get them to come down on these robocalling scum.

The company is "Energy Savings Group".  Their schpeel sometimes claims they're affiliated with PG&E - but that's a bogus claim ("Professional Gas & Electric", not the "Pacific Gas & Electric" utility which serves customers in the 707 area - and much of Northern California).  On pushing one of the many callers for information, they claimed they're "NREC" - but I can find no information on such a company.  There is a _reputable_ solar outfit called REC Solar -- these robo calling bozos aren't them.

Good news though: if you go to energysavingsgroup.info, it presents a barebones webpage and three phone numbers - Peninsula (650/396-8155), San Francisco (415/889-4944), and North Bay (707/780-8165).  The NB number rings through (unlike the bulk of numbers associated with this business, which either claim to be disconnected, or have a constant busy signal).  The girl who answered was rude and hung up when I asked if it they were NREC.  I called back and indicated that I had asked because I'm getting lots of unwanted calls, and she said they'd remove my number - but didn't ask what it was (I was calling from a blocked number...).  When I called later in the evening, the same voice is on the outbound voicemail stating the company name (Energy Savings Group) and soliciting the caller to leave their name and number and they'd call back.

The website is hosted by tucows and has a "private/anonymous" domain registration (i.e. points at the registrar, not the registrant).  Don't confuse these crooks with ejustenergy, which does business under Energy Savings Group and Energy Savings Corp in other states - they do business in California as "Commerce Energy", and the website DNS, Mail, and webhosting are different for energysavings.com &  justenergy.com compared to the .info site.  Likewise, this is not the company going by the same name in Arizona (with a website of esgroupaz.com)

The .info website claims a copyright of 2011 to KGK Consulting.  Checking page sources show that there's an underlying website at: http://energysavingsgroup.squarespace.com, where it appears to be website ID# 930362.  It appears that they have some JS intended to grab Yahoo logins embedded into the page, so beware.

I hit up the California Secretary of State site and performed a Corporation Search - there's no Corporation or LLC legally going by "NREC" or "Energy Savings Group" in California.  The SoS site does return searches for corporations incorporated in other states (I easily pulled up Delaware, Texas, and New Jersey incorporated businesses on the CA site).  Sadly, you cannot search for Fictitious Business Names online in California - in 2013, you still have to go to a county registrar office or send a paper letter to the Secretary of State office requesting information on a given fictitious name filing.

Everything about Energy Savings Group screams "scam" - they're violating the Do Not Call registry, they're rude, they don't stop calling when asked to (if you're rude and won't stop calling, why would I *EVER* do business with your company?).  The website is shoddy and lacks any real information except phone numbers, and there's no mailing address to be found anywhere.

Call the numbers from their website and solicit information from them.  Don't forget *67 before you dial!

This company is connected to some kind of solar energy. Very argumenative and hard sell. I demanded that I be taken off list multiple times.  Now I recieve multiple calls daily.  No response on their end.  When I call back, the phone number has a recording that says its disconnected.  This seems to be a very shady set up.  Anyone have any idea on how I can get rid of there persistant harrassment?  Would appreciate any feed back.

I received a call from this number once a week.

I now press one to talk to an agent.  When the agent comes on, I tell the agency to go "Fxxx" himself, and spent the next 20 seconds swearing at the agent.  Do give the agent an opportunity to speak.

Hopeful, with enough of these calls the agent will look for another job.

I just received a call from this number and my caller ID said out of area, which I thought was very strange since I'm in 707 area.  I didn't answer the call and they didn't leave a message.

Got a call today.  No sound when I picked up.  I am in North Bay, so I am sure it is a telemarketing call after I read these posts.  Interesting that non-profits don't have to follow the do not call list regulations.  Non profits almost ALWAYS hire another company to run their call lists.  They then offer that company a percentage of the profits.  It can be up to either 28 or 35 percent I believe?
